Chapter5

#Chapter5

Armarria’s hands shook, her stomach felt nauseous, as Savion sped away. Her head spun as blood ran down her nose.

/"You should relax. If you are not used to your powers it will cause different side effects./" Savion’s voice was fading in and out as she swayed.

/"You killed that girl./" Armarria placed her hand over her mouth.

/"She was already dead to begin with. I did not have a choice./"

Armarria laid her head back. /"What do you mean dead?/" She looked at Savion for answers. /"She was walking and talking./" She paused remembering her movements. /"A little zombie-like maybe./"

Savion glanced at her. /"The Cloak has become more powerful than I realized. This girl was killed and brought back to life with those powers. She did not kill you though./" Savion turned his eyes back to the road thoughtfully.

Armarria heard the accusing tone. /"You won’t have to be suspicious of me. I have no clue what the hell is going on./" She hugged herself. /"So much for normal./"

Savion realized he was acting colder to her since he arrived. He was angry at himself for allowing this to go so far. Also, he didn’t understand the emotions he felt for her at the moment. Whenever he killed a being, it took a toll on his soul and he would become distant as the darkness subsides.

/"My apologies./" He whispered, afraid to lose himself, but he already knew he was changing. She turned to him as she began to speak, but paused.

/"Savion…./"

The sincerity in his apology made her heart flip. She was the stupid one for not listening to his warning. The need for normalcy almost killed her and Ryan. Her thoughts of him soon were interrupted as Savion’s phone rang.

Savion answered instantly not needing to see who was on the other end. He placed the phone to his ear but never said hello.

/"The girl is with me. We were attacked./"

/"Did you kill again?/" Savion remained quiet. His brother knew the answer. /"How far away are you?/"

/"We are an hour out./"

/"Hurry./" Shadow hung up the phone.

Savion moved the phone away from his ear. /"You and your brother are close,/" Armarria observed, almost sarcastically. /"I can tell you guys don’t have the average brotherly love thing going on, but I can also tell you guys care about each other... in a manly type of way./"

Savion laughed softly. /"Shadow and I have been through many battles together. We have seen the same hell. Many assume him the violent one because he is the quiet, blunt brother, but little do they know./" He turned to glance at Armarria to see her reaction but she didn’t seem afraid.

/"I see the way you treat your other brothers and sisters as well. You are not the monster./"

Savion continued to stare at the road. He knew the demon inside him was growing after every kill. He couldn’t think in the process of doing so and violence seemed to be his only way. Those bastards at the facility raised him well. With much precaution, they arrived at the house Savion built.

He pulled into the garage and closed it firmly behind him. /"I hope one day, Armarria, you will grow to like it here with us. I see the regret in your eyes already from leaving your boyfriend back there./" He didn’t sound bitter about it though, maybe a little hurt, but Armarria wouldn’t catch that.

She smiled faintly. /"I don’t have much of a choice./"

They opened the car door and entered the house. The kids greeted Armarria and Savion excitedly.

/"Miss Armarria I’m so happy you came back!/" Sara proclaimed, giving her a hug on her legs. Armarria smiled and picked the fragile child up in her arms.

/"I’m happy to see you guys./" She nuzzled the little girl until she laughed. Melody just smiled. Jet ran back and forth.

/"I can teach you everything I know about cooking and then we can cook together./"

David looked over at her shyly. The reunion was soon over as Shadow walked up to greet them. Armarria placed Sara down on the floor and she scurried off instantly. Armarria wrapped her arms around herself as she could feel the cold shudder down her spine from the way Shadow looked at her, he wasn’t happy.

Savion jumped in the way protectively. /"Everyone else here may be happy you are back, but I warn you./" He spoke past his brother. /"I will not hesitate to kill you if you hurt anyone in this house, or if you mean any harm to this house./"

/"I don’t./" Armarria started. /"I promise I‘m not trying to…/" Shadow began walking away, turning his back rudely as she spoke.

/"Shadow do not walk away. We have much to discuss./" Savion spoke softly and unrushed.

/"In the kitchen,/" Shadow said without stopping or turning around.

Savion held onto Armarria’s bag, leading her down a hallway. He walked to the first room on the right and opened the door.

/"This will be where you sleep./" Armarria looked around the room.

/"Not the one upstairs?/" Savion placed down her bag.

/"No. This one has its own bathroom. And it is right next to mine./" He winked as she blushed. He gestured for her hand. /"This way to the kitchen./"

Everyone has gathered around. /"Explain the attacker./" Shadow stood with his arms crossed. Savion looked at David.

/"It was the Clarissa girl from Las Vegas. Apparently, she died last year and the Cloak retrieved her dead body. The rest should be self-explanatory./"

David gasped. /"That poor girl. To have to die again./" Savion glanced at Shadow. They all knew without a doubt Savion had to kill her, again.

/"She was already dead David. No need to feel sorry for her./" Shadow responded, arms still crossed.

/"She was still a person, Shadow. Do not take their humanity away from them./" Savion replied angrily. Armarria looked down, feeling guilty of what she had caused by simply being stubborn.

/"They were after me. I saw them./" The kids rose in fear. /"In a vision, I saw one of them./"

Shadow scoffed. /"No one has seen the faces of the Cloak just their veils they wear to cowardly hide from the pain they inflict on others./"

Armarria bit her bottom lip. Shadow’s voice never left his regular smooth sarcastic octave, but the words stabbed her nonetheless. The hatred for the group radiated to everyone in the room.

/"They are going beyond what we saw at the facility in Toronto, Shadow,/" Savion spoke calmly. /"They are bringing people back from the dead and creating reanimated weapons. Whatever they are planning, they wanted Armarria alive. We may be able to find them and stop them with her help./"

Shadow unfolded his arms and walked over to Armarria. His size and height made him, even more, intimidating up close as he peered down at her. Savion was there beside her, extending his arm to touch his brother’s shoulder to warn him not to go too far. Shadow glanced at him, then back at her.

/"Can you really help us? We have been hidden for five years. Five years we had to keep them safe./" He pointed to the children quiet at the table. /"The Cloak scares the shit out of all of them. You went through nothing. How dare you come in here like you are some savior./" Armarria could only meet his deadly glare. Her words were lost.

/"Shadow, she is not claiming to be our savior./" Savion had to dive in to rescue her once more from his brother’s interrogation. /"She is lost just like the rest of us, trying to find her way./" Shadow jerked away Savion’s touch on his shoulder holding him back.

/"I vowed not to hurt her unless provoked and I will keep that promise. Las Vegas seems to have the rest of the answers we need. I am leaving tomorrow morning to get answers./" Shadow backed away from them giving Armarria some room to breathe.

David stood up before Shadow could walk out. /"Shadow./" He turned back to the boy. /"I don’t want you to leave. We won’t be there to help you if something happens. I charted Las Vegas and the enhanced activity there is off the charts./"

Melody sniffed. She looked at her brother pleading as well. There was sympathy in Shadow’s eyes Armarria had to admit she never thought he could show. It was clear the kids were his top priority above all else, even himself. She understood that to be a similar trait both of the twin brothers possessed.

/"No one will capture me again. I will go out and find information on the Cloak and see what they are planning and that is all. Get the files ready on everything you have David. I will need an early morning flight./" He disappeared.

/"In the meantime, we will be training while Shadow is away to prepare ourselves for any danger. Understood?/" Savion announced to the children. /"At least six hours of training every day./" The kids just nodded and disbanded to their rooms. /"We should all get ready for tomorrow./" Savion turned to the only person left in the kitchen. /"Training includes you as well./"

Armarria looked stunned. /"Me? What can I do? I’m useless. I feel so responsible for all this. If it wasn’t for me…/"

Savion moved forward and planted his hands on the wall extending his long arms beside her face. He looked her directly in her eyes. His dark auburn pierced her soul until her breath was caught in her throat. He was more intimidating than Shadow.

/"Don’t speak those words again. You are worth it Armarria, understand? We will figure it out but until then I will not allow you to put yourself down./"

Armarria shuddered, not in fear, but in anticipation. He was so close to her, whispering in her ear. She knew from his demeanor that Savion was demanding and overwhelming. Power poured from him.

No matter how gentle he was with her, he was still ruthless when it came to getting what he wanted. That much she knew would be a life changer. With much hesitation, Savion kissed her neck gently. Her body reacted, catching on fire as hot liquid began to pour down below. The passion they made a few days before hadn’t left either of their minds nor did their bodies forget how great the other felt.

Holding back with all the restraint he could muster, Savion pulled away. /"Goodnight Armarria./" He placed his hands in the pockets of his jeans and walked out of the kitchen.

/"Goodnight Savion./" She whispered, leaning against the wall, trying to calm her body and mind down before walking to her new room.

Savion laid on the bed wide awake as the images of the girl he killed haunted him. She was there every time he closed his eyes. Any other kills he could sleep over but this girl was so innocent, just following the orders the Cloak had given her. He didn’t understand why he couldn’t shake her off even after knowing everything.

He looked over at his clock. It was only two o'clock in the morning. He stood up placing on a pair of sweats. Maybe a morning jog would clear his head. He opened up his door to see Armarria walking into her room. Her shirt hung over her body seductively causing Savion to become hard just looking at her.

/"I’m sorry. Did I wake you?/" Armarria glanced at him with pure lust in her eyes as she stared at his abs.

/"No. I could not sleep. You?/"

Armarria took a sip of her water she’d gotten from the kitchen. /"I couldn’t sleep either. New places take me a minute to become comfy./" Savion nodded once and began his journey to his run before he succumbed to his desires and ripped her clothes off her body.

/"Are you leaving?/" she asked curiously.

/"Going for a jog to clear my mind. I am hoping it will help me sleep./" Armarria took another sip of her water. /"Be careful./" She opened her door to enter her room as Savion continued his quest towards the back door. The sexual tension between them was going to explode sooner rather than later.

Savion knew with her so close now he couldn’t resist her for long. His body heart and soul seemed to reach for her in ways he couldn’t understand, but he wasn’t afraid of it. The connection was very new to him so he had to be careful with her and take his time. She wasn’t mentally prepared for a man like him. He would push her to her limits, to the point of no return, in a good way.

He wanted to force her insecurities away and make her feel worth it because she was in his eyes. He took off in a sprint down the yard into the park. The land they had was huge. It was a football field and a half of pure land for Savion to build. He started building along the edges with tall fences so no intruders could look inside the land and it will be harder for them to climb.

Cameras were placed along trees and poles so they could have eyes and ears on everything in case they were ever under attack. If there was only one thing Savion and Shadow agreed on, it was being prepared. The Cloak was getting stronger every day, recruiting new G.E.M.s at every turn, G.E.M.s more powerful than he could ever imagine. Savion began to run faster at the thought of The Cloak.

The pain they inflicted on him and Shadow, his younger brothers and sisters. The constant training and probing. He stopped and screamed, punching a tree, causing it to break into splinters. The uncontrollable memories ran through his mind. He panted, breaking out into a sweat.

/"Night terrors again?/" Savion heard a familiar voice as he leaned against another tree, defeated.

/"I see them. All of them. Those people the Cloak made us kill./"

Shadow sighed. /"Yes, I think about that day as well./"

Savion wiped the sweat from his brow. /"How can we determine if we are the good guys? We are no better than them./"

Shadow crossed his arms. /"The last time I checked we were not killing and experimenting on people Savion. We are not like them, but if we must be the monsters they made us into in order to stop them, we will own that shit./" He grabbed his arm and pulled him up forcefully. /"Are you going to be like this while I am gone? Do not forget that we have to protect those inside the house./"

/"Even Armarria?/" Shadow’s hesitation made Savion laugh. /"You might have a problem with the opposite sex./"

Shadow frowned. /"I do not have time to see a pair of nice legs, Savion. I cannot afford to lose focus and become distracted by mere vagina./" Savion laughed a little harder at Shadow’s matter of fact tone.

/"Yes, I suppose not./" They were quiet for a moment.

/"Why are you out here?/" he asked. Shadow turned his back.

/"I came out here to do a sweep of the place before I left. To make sure all the cameras were in place and functioning. Also checking the perimeter./" Savion looked around the semi-dark yard. /"You worry about me not being able to keep the kids safe while you are gone./"

It was a concern that was written all over Shadow’s face. Shadow didn’t turn his body, only his face slightly.

/"Well can you?/"

Then he disappeared, clinging to the darkness, having the final word and leaving Savion in the field in deep thought.
