Dream Chase (iii)

I took a step forward, and suddenly my head ached. I felt dizzy as my vision got blurry.

When I opened my eyes, I found myself in yet another place.

I glanced around, thinking I might know this place, or find someone, but I couldn't see anyone around.

I was standing in some hallway that led to a balcony.

Is this place a castle... or a palace?

It's so dark that I can't see anything other than the moonlight coming from the balcony.

I tried to walk but... my right leg was missing.

Many emotions, including pain, rose in my body.

Both my hands were missing too.

And the blood was dripping down from there.

I was cut by someone? But who?!

Why? I was perfectly fine just a while ago!

What the hell is going on?!

I want to wake up from this nightmare already.

I lost my balance and fell down.

I tried to call for help, but words weren't coming out of my mouth.

I could feel my soul leaving my body.... is it my body in the first place?

My vision got blurry, and I couldn't even keep my eyes open.

The pain is fading away.

What's going on?

I feel soft around my head.

I felt as if I was on someone's lap.

I opened my eyes to see I really was in someone's lap.

I couldn't see who it was due to the dark and my blurry vision, but I could tell it was a girl.

I could hear a sobbing sound.

She was crying. She was crying so hard that her tears felt like raindrops when they hit my face.

Who is she? Why is she crying?

I don't know who she was or why she was crying, but I know that she was crying for me. She is mourning for me.

Why do I know that? I just know it.

I could feel my heart getting stabbed with her every sob.

"Please... please don't die," the girl said as more tears fell on my face.

I tried to touch her, but both of my hands were...

"Luka. Luka! Wake up! School is over, and we have missions today!" Ana was shaking Luka continuously.

"Mmm," Luka moved a little.

"Hey! Wake up"

Luka opened his eyes and said, "Ana?"

"Get up already!"

"Hmm," Luka rubbed his eyes. as he leaned back.

Luka glanced around as he thought, 'I fell asleep in the classroom?'

'I feel like I had some kind of dream.'

"What happened? You didn't get sleep at night?", Ana asked with a concerned look in her eyes.

"Well, last night...." Luka stopped and thought, 'Wait! Should I tell her about last night? About that monster?'

'But if I told her, she is surely going to report it to experts, and it's going to be a lot of pain afterward.'

'A monster inside the barrier is a major issue.'

"Yeah," Luka groaned as he said, "I was playing games all night, so I didn't get any sleep."

Ana smacked on Luka's head and said, "Why would you play a game when you have to go to school the next day?"

Luka grabbed his bag and stood up.

Suddenly, he felt dizzy when he took a step forward and ended up sitting back in his seat.

"Hey, are you okay?" Ana rushed to Luka as she grabbed his shoulder and said, "Does your head still hurt? Maybe we should go to the doctor."

"It hurt because you just smacked me on the head."

Ana's eyes widened in shock as her eyes got teary, and she said, "I am sorry."

Luka chuckled and patted Ana's head as he said, "I was kidding, idiot."

'It's so fun to tease her.'

"Stupid," Ana puffed her cheeks and said, "I am really worried about you, you know?"

"It doesn't hurt. I just felt dizzy for a moment." Luka got up again as he said, "I think it was most probably because I just woke up."

"I see, and...."

"Hmm?"

"Are you still having nightmares?"

"Huh?"

"You said this before, right? That you are having terrible dreams, but you can't remember them."

"Ah! Yes. But this time, it feels like I had a pleasant dream."

'I don't remember it though.'

"I see" Ana sighed in relief.

"Maybe nightmares only come when we sleep at night?"

Ana squinted her eyes as she said, "What's with that?"

"No, I was just thinking."

After walking out of the classroom, Ana glanced at Luka with her flushed face.

"So..."

"Hmm?"

"Did you dream about me?"

"Why would you be in my good dreams?" Luka replied with a straight face.

"Wha--!"

"If you come to my dream, that will be the best dream ever."

'Did I just say something very embarrassing?'

Luka glanced over at Ana's face, and it was bright red.

'Yup, I did.'

'And I haven't had those dreams of Ana for quite a long time now.'

As they were walking, Ana suddenly grabbed his arm.

Luka jolted as he glanced at Ana.

Ana's face was flushed to her ears.

'You should have hugged me instead, idiot Ana'
