1 Uneasy

Have you ever wonder what's going on around you when you aren't able to see it.

Throughout all lives there is always a spot where people don't look. It can be under a bed. A random wall outside a building. Behind a bookshelf that hasn't been moved in years.

But there are people in life who can tell when a spot has been "abandoned". They are called seekers. Seekers have a natural attraction to these spots where no one else goes. And all seekers can awaken their ability at any point in their life. It can be when they are less than a month old or it can be on their deathbed.

Abandoned spots in the world are full of mysteries and only when a seeker discovers them will they know what they will get. Some seekers get very lucky and get abilities that can extremely help them in their lives. While most find unimaginable things that could lead to their deaths.

All things are born from the abandoned. The Big Bang started in a completely dark universe that didn't get any light for trillions of years. Every sun, planet, and moon is also born from an abandoned spot. And all life comes from some forgotten spot in the world.

But just because the earth is very populated doesn't mean that there aren't spots that still haven't been found.

New York City, United States

In a very old and decrepit house lives a man, a woman, and their child.

The house is only one story with all the windows having at least one or two holes in them. There are two bedrooms, a small den, a very dirty bathroom, and a kitchen that appears to have not been used in years.

The man is passed out on a couch with glasses of different kinds surrounding him. The man has gray stubble all over his chubby face with dried up vomit around his mouth and beard. He also had short black hair that was so greasy some might say that he had never taken a shower in his life. While the woman was sitting on a chair near the corner of the house. She had huge dark circles under dark blue eyes and blonde disheveled hair that went down to the middle of her back. She was obviously a very beautiful person but now she looked akin to a zombie. She was staring at her husband from across the room. Her name was Michelle and her husband's name was Gerald. They used to be a very happy couple until Gerald lost his job and started to drink away his sadness and shame. Michelle had bruises all over her body which made her unable to go outside most of the time because Gerald didn't want anyone to find out. She had been trying to figure out how she could leave Gerald with her son Madd.

Madd was currently in his bedroom. He was in his bed looking through the crack of his door to make sure that his mom was ok. He was aware of what his father did because he included him in the beatings. But for some reason he treated Madd a lot worse than he treated Michelle. Other than physical abuse Madd also got sexually and mentally abused. Because of that Madd always had a problem with interacting with other children around him other than his best friend Derick. Madd couldn't even remember when they became friends but he did know that they have been friends for a very long time.

While Madd was looking through the crack he noticed that something seemed to be moving behind his mother but he couldn't really tell what it was. He couldn't figure out if he should tell her or just ignore it. If he accidentally woke up his father, no one would be happy. So he just decided to ignore it and kept watching his mom. He had always been very protective of her because of his father. Some might call him a mama's boy.

*sssscccrrraaatttccchhhh*

While Madd was watching his mom he heard a very long and quiet scratch coming from somewhere. He thought that it was probably a tree branch and went to look back at his mom.

She was now looking at his father with what appeared to be with a happy expression.

That really confused Madd because it's been years since the last time his mom had smiled at his father.

'Is mom ok? Maybe I should check on her if she keeps doing that.' Madd thought.

*sssscccrrraaattttcccchhhh*

Madd heard that scratching noise once again but this time he heard it clearer. He looked in the direction where he heard the sound and he looked at his closet. He never liked this closet because it would always make him feel a little weird whenever he was near it so he hasn't been around it in years.

Madd got out of his bed because he was sure he heard that noise from his closet. 'Come on, you can do it. You just turned 13 be a man.' Madd thought to himself.

When he was right in front of the closet door he started to hesitate. It had been years since he even touched the door knob let alone go near the door. Just before Madd was about to open the door, a noise came from the den.

Madd started to get worried so he abandoned the closet and went to peek his head out his door to see what it was.

Everything looked normal except that his mom wasn't on her chair anymore.

'She never leaves that chair until dad goes to the bedroom. Where did she go?'

Madd decided to go out and take a look to make sure everything was fine. His mom was too important to him. He couldn't worry about anything else.

*ssssccccrrrrraaaattttcccchhhhh*

He heard the noise once again but much louder and in a different spot around the corner. It was an empty spot behind the couch that Madd mainly used to walk around all the beer bottles that his dad left around.

*bump bump*

Madd heard his heart beat in his ears. 'Come on dude just go out there and see what it is.' He managed to convince himself to look around the corner.

He slowly peeked around the corner, with his shaky hands gripping the edge as hard as he could to stop the shaking. He saw what appeared to be the figure of a person. He went back around the corner because he wasn't expecting anyone to be there. 'Did I really just get scared because mom is standing there.'

Madd got back his courage and peeked around the corner once again but he saw nothing.

'Weird, where did she go?'

Madd didn't hear any footsteps so he started to get really confused as to where his mom went. He decided to walk to the area where he previously thought he saw his mom.

When he got there he couldn't find anything different so he just forgot about it and thought that the noise he heard was probably from his mom and went back to his room. He saw that his dad was still passed out as he walked back, so his mom couldn't be in any real danger at the moment.

Once he got back in his bed he saw his mom sitting back in her chair at the table.

'Thank God she is back. I was worried for a little.'

But when Madd took a closer look at the person sitting in the chair they didn't really look like his mom. Even though he couldn't see the face of who was sitting there because of the poor lighting he was still able to tell the body shape of someone. He went up to his door once again to try and get a better look.

He saw a tall silhouette of something sitting in his moms chair and it's not just tall but terrifyingly tall. Just sitting down it's head touches the ceiling and it's arms touch the floor. It looked to be very skinny and it's legs appeared to be the only normal thing about it.

'How the hell did I not notice that thing just a second ago?'

Madd started to get really worried and scared. He couldn't think straight right now because of all the stress that this thing was giving him. So he made a stupid decision and went back to his bed. When he looked back to the chair and his mom was there once again.

'What is going on!! I swear that I saw a completely different thing earlier?!'
