“Made it just under the wire,” Matt said. “So?”

“I’m willing, but we do it by email and phone. We will notmeet in person.”

Matt chuckled. “Not willing to trust me that far? That’s okay, but no more phone calls. Can you set up secure email on your end?” He laughed. “Guess that’s a stupid question, considering how you were making a living.”

“I can,” Lou replied, giving Wayne and Rae a thumbs-up, even though they were listening in on the conversation. “However, since you’ve agreed to that, without hesitation, I’m willing to meet you somewhere, instead.”

“Really? What if I’m not willing to take a chance on meeting you?”

“Then the deal is off and I figure out another way to find our mutual friend.”

Matt snorted. “Lots of luck with that. Do you have a place in mind?”

“I do, presuming you’re not restricted on traveling while you’re out on bail.”

“I’m not. I had a good lawyer to make certain of that. How far are we talking?”
