The characters are so very real and the world is fully lived-in. I had a hard time reading the first few chapters at first because of the inherent fear and anger, but I'm glad I kept reading. This story is such a gem - masterful writing with flawed but sympathetic characters in an epic setting. The translation also does a good job bringing forth all the feelings in the vernacular. I had previously read the story on Ridibooks, and am so happy to see this officially translated to bring in new fans. I still hope and pray for a print release.
It’s infuriating how slowly webnovel is releasing chapters. I remember when it was 1 chapter a day for book 1 and now it’s 3 per week. For some reason it also says 9 chapters are released per week (as an average calculated over 30 days as if anyone cares about an average) and I feel like it’s intentionally misleading. Why not just put 3 chapters per week and not give me false hope???
Absolutely love this korean novel, everything about this is amazing, from the main characters, plot, worldbuilding, and side characters. Everything is chef’s kiss. I have suffered from reading the original version in Ridibooks because Google Translate/Papago makes everything confusing, so I’m very happy that there’s finally an official translation. Thank God! The author is amazing! Hopefully the translation for the rest of the chapters will be faster!
it's a shame to have to buy privilege time for time every month again. with the Release of only 4 chapters a week - that's quite expensiv and shameless. i understand to have to buy privilige for once and then every each chapter beforehand, but every month the procedure anew? the same? that's ridiculuos and greedy
“Under The Oak Tree” was the first Novel I ever read, and I fell in LOVE with it. • The English Translation is great, smooth and beautifully written. • The story is captivating. The characters are adorable and their relationship is so sweet. (Two HUMANS with their own insecurities and struggles. The way they grew up as kids is heartbreaking). The World Background is amazing. • I am also reading the Manga (thanks to Manta) and I fell in LOVE again and again. I can't stop admiring the ART. • I am patiently waiting for the realization of “Under The Oak Tree 2” and I hope to read the hardcover/paperback version of this book one day. • Author, THANK YOU for this lovely Romance story and for all your Hard Work. • • ~ Highly Recommended ~ ☀️
This should have been 5 star in all categories - because the story itself is amazing. But sadly it seems this platform has become greedy and requires me to buy privilege to finish the book! As a regular purchaser of books I won’t do that on principal, as it is a ludicrous amount of money. Good luck to the author - but I will be looking for other legitimate platforms with her story, that don’t charge so much!
Riftan and Maxi. Your story is reminescent of an era gone by, sorely missed, and wrongly forgotten. The era where a love so palpable, relatable and painfully repressed reigns supreme in the end. You irrevoccably splintered through the facade of superficiality and showed the world that one needs not be flawless to be ideal and ultimately loved. You are real, you are perfect. The pace and translation are great, and let me just say this - dear translator, without you, we will not be able to enjoy this roller coaster of love in all its fresh, steaming, delicious and delightful glory- I may not know Korean, but I daresay you give mighty justice to its equally beguiling origins. To the genius author, I salute you, from one writer (closet I maybe) to another, with all my smitten heart. You are a treasure to have given life to this genre within a genre. Please grace us with more of your lovely, brilliant works! I am most fortunate to have come across your love story - thanks to Manta, and so I traced you here. And although I am dying to get to the end of it, it teaches me to be patient, and it gives me heart and a renewed sense of hope that your love will prevail in the end.
Patiently waiting on a good translation of book 2. Ridi is simply painful. I think the author never thought her story was going to become a beautiful inspiring love story worldwide hands down. Hopefully with more time on her hands I am crossing my fingers on Maxi and Riftan's child on book 2 just for us reader to overcome the trauma of book 1 but again what an enjoyable beautiful written love story. The realism, the poetry, the feelings wrap you in an unforgettable journey of unique love.
This is for now my favourite novel. Normally I prefer reading comics instead of novels but 'Under the Oak Tree' is so well written and engaging, I was not bored for a second while reading! There are times it gets frustrating because I would like to see diffent behaviours from our Maxi and Riftan but at the same time I like how the author takes her time to actually portrait the development of their characters; because like in real life, changes do not occur in a single day, they do need time. Just WONDERFUL💖
