Jocelyn intro 1

Panting hard, Jocelyn drove over to the pub. All she needed was to get intoxicated with alcohol and forget whatever had happened between her and Brooke. On walking in, the lights in the pub were almost out, every corner was still and silent with only unsteady grouching of the old pub attendant as he walked by the beer stands. She sat beside the billing table, waiting for him to notice her presence and after a minute or two of waiting he turned to look at her. "Yo, young lady what you want this late?," He asked slouching as he walked towards the billing table.

"Vodka," she squeaked. He starred at her studying her condition; weak, almost breathless, veiny eyes requesting vodka. He poured in a shot and passed it down to her on the other end of the table. As she sipped he starred, she knew it would not take long before he started a conversation with her and she actually needed someone to talk to. "Why you drinking sister?" He asked smiling at her like he had assumed she wasn't the regular shot hitting type or he was probably sure she wasn't. For a second she wanted to cry and tell him how much she hated her recent lifestyle, and how unlucky she had always been with her romantic relationships but she thought again, the old man probably had his own problems, he had been grumpy before she requested the vodka and he looked like he also hated his life. She couldn't see him helping her in anyway, he probably just wanted a good gossip for his other customers. She was silent and so he asked again louder and meaner this time, "why you drinking sister?." She frowned and locked her gaze at him hoping he would feel threatened as she replied "None of ya business." As if waiting for that reply he glared at her snapping, "GET'AT OF HERE!" In sulky contempt she replied "maybe you don't want your pay." He slid out a knife from his trousers, speaking slowly, his tone lower than before, "you won't dare, hell's not far, I could take you there in a second."
