12 Second Chance

Selena passed the whole morning thinking about the ambush. She was starting to get suspicious of everything and everyone.

Why would someone try to ambush her? Did it have something to do with her powers?

Her grandmother insisted that she kept that a secret, which made a lot of sense, since they were a threat even for Selena herself.

While leaving class, Selena had to stop at the library to grab some books, and Maddie had to go home in a hurry because she had a job interview scheduled.

Selena was left alone and while she went outside of the building checking the books she had just gotten, she didn’t see when someone stopped in front of her.

It was Robbie, and she almost bumped into him, if she hadn’t gotten her head up in time.

“Oh, I’m sorry! I was distracted and didn’t see you there.” she apologized, getting herself together after the scare.

“It's ok, actually I shouldn’t stop in front of you like that. “ Robbie said with a smile. “ Anyway… If I didn’t know better, I’d think you’re avoiding me. You vanished from Earth that day at the bar. What happened?”

Selena rehearsed a thousand times what excuse she would give him, however, now that she needed something good to say, nothing came to her mind.

“Ah… Well, actually, I started to feel sick all of a sudden, you know… Women stuff. I had to rush home.”

Selena made an ugly face. What kind of awful excuse was that?

“Ah… Got it! I thought I had done something wrong or something.” Robbie confessed.

“Of course not! I was having fun and you’re always very nice.”

“Well, since we couldn’t talk and get to know each other, what do you feel about a second chance? Can we go on a date?”

Robbie smiled with those kind eyes, and even though Selena didn’t have any intention of going on a date with him, she was feeling really bad about leaving him on the other night.

“You know what… Maddie and William are going to the Treehouse Bar tonight. So, we could do a double date. What do you think?” Robbie added before Selena had a chance to answer.

Or maybe she just took too long to reply to him, and he felt embarrassed.

What should she do now? Maddie was not there to give any telepathic advice to Selena.

She didn’t have the courage to say no to him. That was one of the most awkward and embarrassing situations she had ever experienced in her life.

It would be much better to fight with some wolves than having to reject someone.

“Yeah, I think I can do that.”

“Great! Then I’ll pick you up at 8 p.m.. Is that ok for you?” Robbie asked.

Sh*t! How would she say she lived in a colony full of werewolves? How could she send him there to pick her up?

“Er… Don’t worry! I need to be somewhere before, so do you mind if I meet you there?” Selena had come up with a lie really fast.

That was already being really troublesome.

“Sure, this works for me. So I’ll see you tonight.” Robbie gave a kiss on her cheek and left, leaving a disturbed Selena behind.

What she had no idea was that somewhere near, Lucas was hearing the entire thing. And he wasn’t happy at all.

He had his fists clenched so tight, that his arms veins were popping out.

So she accepted to go on a date with Robbie again? What kind of game was she playing? How was it possible for her to fight against those mate and human feelings?

He refused to believe that she wasn’t feeling the same thing as him. He was going crazy. He wouldn’t accept that without doing anything.

His phone vibrated and he looked at the screen. It was Demi again, but this time it was a text message.

“Hey, it’s really hard to talk to you these days. It’s like you’re a celebrity or something. Let’s grab something to drink sometime.” the text said.

Lucas wasn’t purposely avoiding her. He always made very clear that they were just friends now. The past was in the past.

He never misled her to think otherwise. But she was constantly trying to seduce him and get back together with him.

At that moment, Lucas had an idea and hated himself for that. He was not the type of guy that used anyone for his own benefits.

But maybe, just maybe, he could invite Demi to grab a drink, as friends, to make Selena jealous.

At least that’s what he hoped it would happen. He would have to make sure that Selena was not feeling attracted by, or had any type of feelings for him.

“Let's go to the Treehouse Bar tonight. I need a beer anyway!” he typed the message and sent it to her.

If Selena was so willing to avoid her feelings for him, he would not make it any easier for her as well.

If he could have the opportunity to mess up with her date, he would definitely do it.
