15 I’m Taking You Home

Selena went wandering through the streets, staggering. She refused resolutely that Robbie accompanied her home.

That could never happen. She had to go home by herself. But she was still very drunk and with a hell of a headache.

She crossed the street and turned left, and that’s when she regretted going home in that state. With that dizziness, she started to think her mind was playing tricks on her.

She could swear she saw a guy next to a tree, staring at her. But she couldn’t sense anything, like his smell or anything, and she couldn’t be clear if he was indeed looking at her.

If he was some stalker or thief, she wasn’t going to be able to fight him. She was barely standing up.

The guy had dark hair and was very young, but his eyes caught Selena’s attention. She thought they were pretty familiar, but she could not remember where she could had seen them.

“Selena.”

She heard a voice coming from behind her, which almost caused her a heart attack.

“Holy sh*t!” Selena cursed, turning on her back. Her heart was pounding like she had run a marathon.

It was Lucas.

He was even more beautiful than before under those dimmed lights on the street.

Still dazed, she looked back again, trying to find the man near the tree, but there was no one there anymore.

Was she imagining things again?

Her head was hurting too much. Why did she have to drink that much?

And then she reminded. The reason was standing right in front of her.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. I just don’t think it’s a good idea for you to go home alone. Specially not in this state.” Lucas walked up to her.

“I’m fine!” Selena huffed, starting to follow the path she was on before she had a glimpse of the mysterious guy.

“Let me walk you home.” Lucas stated softly.

Selena laughed loudly.

“Why would I do that? If I didn’t let Robbie take me home, why would I let you do it?”

“I'm pretty sure the reason you didn’t let Robbie accompany you was because you didn’t want him to see where you live. Am I right?”

Lucas raised his brows at her with that arrogant smirk.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with where I live.”

“No, of course not. I just meant that maybe you didn’t want him to know how you live and with who. You know what I meant, don’t make me explain it.”

Of course she knew. She just didn’t know what to answer. She seemed to lose her ability to speak and reply wisely when he was around.

Lucas got closer and passed his hands around her waist. She could barely move. Her skin felt like burning and tingling where he was touching.

His touch made her legs shudder, and she had to hold on to his arms not to fall.

“You know what, I don’t think you’re able to go home by yourself. So you can curse me all you want, but I’m taking you home with me.”

“What?”

Selena was speechless, dumbfounded.

Before she could protest, Lucas picked her up, without giving her a chance to do anything.

He didn’t seem to be having any trouble caring Selena, even though she was struggling to get off of his arms.

“It will be much easier and quicker if you stop moving so much.”

She was already numb from the beers and tired from struggling on his arms, so she simply accepted the fact that she wasn’t going to win.

“You don’t need to be defensive with me all the time. I’m not that bad, you know?”

He caught her off guard. She knew he wasn’t bad. Actually, she was pretty sure he was the most caring and gentle guy she had ever met.

She just didn’t want to admit it. She was angry at herself for being so stupid and not knowing to comprehend what she was feeling for him.

There was so much going on inside her mind, that she wasn’t having enough time to figure out what she wanted.

Lucas took her home, and with the swing of his arms, she felt sleepy.

She could only sense a few things on the way. His scent was the strongest, for sure. That gave her a sense of comfort and safety. It felt so good, so right to be on his arms.

Lucas arrived at his home and took Selena to his room. She was already asleep.

At first, he thought she would fight with all her strength against him, so he wouldn’t take her with him. She struggled a little on his arms, but eventually she gave up and relaxed.

He saw that she was sleepy and talking nonsense on the way, but she felt asleep shortly after.

He put her on his bed, pulling the blanket over her.

All his body and soul protested the moment he separated from her, but he fought against his every instinct to stay away.

She looked so peaceful and vulnerable sleeping on his bed. He just wanted to be able to sleep beside her, to stroke her hair, feel her skin.

He closed the door behind him, with a pillow and a blanket on his arms. He placed them on the couch and went to the shower, trying to put his mind in place.

It was getting more and more impossible to be away from her. And he didn’t know how much longer he would endure that.
