Chapter 6

Ariel- pov

"There must be a mistake..." I said so softly only he heard it. Suddenly I heard a loud angry roar, everyone in the room fell to their knees and lowered their necks. I started to tremble and I tried to take a step back but he wouldn't let me, his arm only got tighter around me. I didn't mean to say that out loud but it is true, there has to be a mistake. I just got back home and I have plans to work at the pack hospital. I don't want to be Queen, that is crazy and so is this Alpha King if he thinks that I am going to give up on my career.

I try to get out of his grasp but he is too strong. "Hephaestus"! I hear him say abruptly. "Yes, your Majesty" the man to his right says to him. I could tell from the power radiating off of him that he was the King's Beta. I then see the King take off the golden broach that he was wearing and hand it to the Beta. "Ensure that the rest of the festivities continue, and collect all of the paperwork for me to review at a later time". He said without breaking eye contact with me. The dark man took the broach and turned to do as the King commanded.

Then without a word the King proceeded to scoop me up bridal style. I closed my eyes and screamed from the abrupt action taking place "Put me down, you can't take me away from my family like this!" I screeched, wiggled and threw my fist at his chest. It was no use, he didn't even flinch, he just continued to walk down halls and through doors. Without a word he walked into a room and threw me on the bed. "How dare you, I am not staying here" I said as a leaped off the bed and tried to walk to the door but his big frame stopped me.

He gave me a smirk as he walked towards me slowly "You, my lady are mine and you will stay here with me" he growled. His growl made me shiver in delight and I hated that. He stepped closer as I took a step back running into the bed, he stood right in front of me, his hazel blue eyes staring straight into my soul. He leaned forward putting his arms on either side of me trapping me on the bed. His face hovered over my neck, he moved my long hair off of my right shoulder and took in a deep breath taking in my scent, his chest rumbled in delight. My breath hitched and my cheeks turned red, I couldn't move and part of me didn't want to.

I think he sensed the war going on inside me because he chuckled slightly and stood up looking at me with a smirk. "I will have dinner and some clothes brought to you." he said as he walked out the room. I was about to protest but I felt my body slump down on the bed as I took in a deep breath, this must be his room. His lovely scent was everywhere and it made me smile inside, I cursed myself for that.

I decided to take a look around the room it was grand with what looked like two walk-in closets. I could just imagine what the bathroom looked like. I got up and walked inside, it was grand, there was a shower, bathtub, hot tub, personal toilet, dark marble counters and a small side wall that had a full body mirror. This bathroom was a dream, extravagant and for a moment it made me forget who's room it was a part of. After using the toilet I decided to sit back on the bed and just think. "We found our mate, I knew we would find him, will he come back soon?" Cora asked suddenly yipping around in my head, filling it with her scattered thoughts. "No, this was not the plan Cora!". I replied annoyed and feeling conflicted. The frustration of this inevitable and unwanted encounter started to overwhelm me.

Zeus- pov

I had to leave the room before I did something stupid and made her even more upset with me than she already was. Hades whimpered in my head. I can't remember the last time that happened, it surprised me but I felt the same way. I have to admit, I am impressed, no one ever stands up to me, she is strong and she looks adorable when she gets upset. I was lost in my train of thought and barley noticed the woman standing a few feet in front of me, I growled. She had her head completely down and her knees were bent halfway. "Who are you? what are you doing here"? my voice angrily boomed.

These were my quarters and no one was allowed up here without permission. The woman lowered herself to the floor in full submission as she spoke "Your Grace, please have mercy and hear me out!" she pleaded. "Rise and state your case." I replied in a stern but lower voice. She gracefully got up from the floor raising her head slightly, careful not to look me in the eyes. "Your Majesty, I am Ruth Hill-Mount former Luna of the River Moon Pack, I am Ariel's mother."she explained with sincerity.

I froze for a moment at this sudden revelation but upon closer inspection she shared many features with Ariel and she even smelled a little like her too. "You may approach me with your request Ruth Hill-Mount" I acknowledged. "Your Grace, I ask that you let me speak to Ariel, I saw how uhm..upset she was to leave the banquet so abruptly and I would like to ease her worry. I am very happy that my daughter found you, her mate and I believe that she will make a fine Queen someday." she said carefully.

I studied the woman standing before me and thought for a moment. It might make Ariel more inclined to give me a chance if she gets to see her mother. "Very well, you have one hour to visit and I expect her to eat as well" I said as I pointed to my room. She looked up ever so slightly and saw were I was pointing to. She bowed her head and thanked me as she walked to the door and knocked. I then mind linked two servants and instructed them to bring them food and gather Ariel's things from the royal guest house where she had stayed the night before. I walked to my office to think and give Ruth and Ariel some space.
