Chapter 6

“Tell me before I snap it off,” she warned.

“Okay, okay. I give. Sit down again and I’ll spill it.”

Carmen did as she was told and returned to her seat. She also placed her chin on her hand, signaling for me to continue.

I took a deep breath and started spilling my guts. “Okay, so have you ever been with a guy who was under five?”

“Under five what?” a puzzled Carmen asked.

“Don’t make me explain, you know what I mean?” I narrowed my eyes a bit, hoping she would get my drift.

“Under five,” she mumbled over and over for a bit before finally getting the train to the station. “Oh, under five. Yes, of course.”

“And was it a big deal?” I asked.

Carmen began to speak but stopped.

“Never mind, that says it all.” I said.

“No wait,” Carmen began. “Do you mean you actually measured yours?”

“Don’t try to change the subject, but no, I didn’t. I looked for a ruler but couldn’t find one.”

“And not even before this? Because how would you know you’re under five if you haven’t measured?”
