29 Chapter 27: Strawberry Smoothie

Arlo's POV

I slipped my hands inside my pockets as I walked away from Crystal. Why did I agree to this again I asked myself as I stopped in front of the counter.

"One sandwich and a hash brown please," I said to the lady behind the counter as she looked up at me.

"Okay, just a second. Oh, and what sandwich would you like?" the lady asked me, Crystal didn't specify what kind of sandwich she wanted, well it's her fault this time.

"Any sandwich would be fine thank you," I said to her as she nodded her head then went away to get the food. While I was waiting my eyes started wandering over to the food behind the counter and landed on a freshly blended strawberry smoothie. That's looks good, I am the one who's paying for Crystal's food so why not get something too. As the lady came back with a hash brown and a sandwich in her hands, I could hear some of the students gossiping behind me but I just ignored them.

"Here is the sandwich and hash brown, is there anything else you want to buy?" The lady handed me the food as I nodded my head in response.

"Yes, I would like one strawberry smoothie please"

"Okay, one moment" Then the lady went off again, however the longer I stood there The noisier the other students in the cafeteria got. What's happening over there? I'll just take a look after I get my smoothie.

"Here is your smoothie," The lady said with a smile.

"Thank you," I said before walking away from the lady. Now, what is all this fuss about-? As I turned around I could see students crowding around a corner, and as I walked closer to them I could make out 4 figures, but a boy was blocking my view, it seemed like another low tier getting beaten up again. Nope, this is not my business, now where is Crystal? Just as I was about to leave the scene, the student who was blocking my view earlier moved aside and there I could fully see and understand what was really going on.

There stood in the middle of the ruckus were 3 high-tiers and...Crystal? I just left for 5 minutes and she couldn't stay out of trouble, can she? I sighed as I activated my ability, making my presence known to all the students. I made my barrier appear right in front of Crystal before the girls could land a hit on her. If I had realized any later then they would have had to suffer the consequence of messing with her.

"ARGH!!" The three girls screamed as their fists collided with my barrier making them grip their hands tightly.

"Who the hell did-!...Arlo..." They started trembling but kept their tough act as I walked towards them with a cold look on my face.

"A-Arlo! What brought you here?" The nervous girl asked, how can Crystal let these girls beat her up like this? She's clearly stronger than they are. I sent a cold glare to the three girls as one of them turned to face Crystal with anger in her eyes.

"Arlo this stupid low-tier was bothering us, so we just taught her a lesson-!" I was about to cross my arms over my chest but I just realized I was still holding the smoothie and Crystal's food, I placed it on one of the tables and turned my attention back to the three girls.

"A-Arlo w-what are you doing-?" One of the girls said. I just clicked my teeth before the barrier started shrinking slowly.

"Did I say you can speak?" I said bluntly as I glared at the three girls, but one of the girls gritted her teeth and snapped her head towards Crystal.

"Why are you even hanging around a low-tier like her! We weren't doing anything wrong-!" I started shrinking my barrier to the point they were kneeling on the floor and their heads touching the floor.

"One more word out of that mouth of yours and you'll end up being crushed" I spat out to the girl making her shut up. Ugh! people like her are so damn irritating! I lifted my head to face everyone in the cafeteria.

"May this be a lesson to everyone to not cross the line" And with that being said I grabbed the food I placed on the table along with Crystal's hand and walked out of the cafeteria, leaving all the students there dumbfounded and confused at the scene.

Crystal's POV

Before I knew it I was being dragged out of the cafeteria followed by the stares of the other students as they watched both of us leave the scene. Damn it, Arlo! I wanted to put these girls in their places!! After a few more minutes of being dragged into the empty hallway, Arlo finally stopped in front of the lockers and turned around to face me.

"You really couldn't stay out of trouble for just a little while?" I furrowed my eyes brows at this before crossing my arms across my chest.

"I could've handled that perfectly fine without your help, thank you very much!" I said to him as he let out a deep sigh before slowly approaching me making me flinch.

"That's exactly why I stopped the fight." He said stopping right in front of me, towering over me as I squinted my eyes at him

"Who knows what would've happened if you did fight back," Arlo said narrowing his eyes down at me, lowering his head to my level. Our faces were just a few inches apart when I felt my cheeks heat up.

"Too close!" I shouted out as I pushed him back making him flinch. I turned my head to the side as Arlo just stood there staring at me, feeling a small smirk make its way up to his face. After a few minutes of staying like this, I took a little peek to see Arlo still staring at me.

"What?" I asked the blonde as he raised his eyebrow like he's waiting for something.

"What? what do you want?" I asked bluntly as the blonde just sighed.

"Don't you know how to say thank you?" He retorted as I just crossed my arms and slightly tilted my head.

"For what? For dragging me out of the cafeteria?" I asked trying to figure out why he wanted a thank you.

"For someone smart, you sure are forgetful," He said, I was about to protest until Arlo raised a paper bag in front of my face. Why does he have-? Oh yeah! My food!! I was about to grab it but he just waved his hand away moving the paper bag in different directions. What the heck!

"Hey! Give me my food!" I said as I tried grabbing the paper bag out of the boy's hand containing what's left of my sanity.

"Nope, not until you say thank you" I frowned at this but just shrugged my shoulders.

"Thank you! Can I please have my food now" I said as he gave a small smile? He handed me the paper bag as I quickly got my hash brown and began munching it down with no hesitation. Damn, this is so good!

As I continued eating the rest of my amazing food, I noticed Arlo drinking what seemed to be a strawberry smoothie. I just stared at it, not taking my eyes off it. I should've asked Arlo to buy me a strawberry smoothie too, I mentally slapped myself for being so forgetful plus I was getting really thirsty and just the mere sight of the delicious drink made my mouth water. The blonde boy noticed this then smirked.

"You wanna have a sip?" He asked innocently, I nodded my head while trying to get a hold of it.

"Well too bad you didn't ask for this," He said bluntly then continued sipping it from the straw. I tried grabbing it but it was no use, he too had good reflexes. Damn it, Arlo! But then I thought of an idea, which I'm 100% sure would work.

"Hey Arlo, give me the smoothie," I said in a cold tone as my eyes started glowing a bright gold color.

"And what makes you think I'll give it to you-!" Before he knew it the smoothie was in my hands as I sipped away. Yes! practice does pay off

"Hey! How did you-?" He was about to question how I got it but as soon as he saw me his eyes widened and a slight pink blush made its way up to his cheeks as he turned away. Huh? Why did he turn away all of a sudden? Was there something on my face-?But then it hit me hard.

Without even thinking twice, I drank the strawberry smoothie from the same straw he used! My face turned red in no time as I quickly turned away too. Ahh! How could I forget! It's practically like an indirect kiss!! I started panicking in my mind like crazy practically slapping myself mentally for being so dumb. But I started claiming down when the blonde started saying something.

"You...can keep the drink, I'll just buy another one later" He muttered as his back continued facing me. I just stood there embarrassed and guilty at what I had just done. I shouldn't have done that, besides he was the one who bought it in the first place, not me.

I was about to go back to scolding myself when I got an idea, I pulled my wallet out of my pocket and started rummaging through it. Arlo noticed this and turned around, his eyes averting down at my wallet as he narrowed his eyes down at me. He caught on to my idea and started walking away from me, I lifted my head up and shouted.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going!"

"I'm going to class" I then began sprinting towards him as he quickened his pace.

"Hey! We're not done here yet!" I yelled out making him stop in his tracks and turn around.

"What else is there to do?" I made my way towards him and got a hold of his arm as I began dragging him.

"What do you think you're doing?" The blonde spat out as I just glanced at him.

"We're heading back to the cafeteria so I can buy you a new, smoothie," I said bluntly as we neared the canteen, earning some stares from most of the students as they saw the two of us.

"You do know that nobody in this whole school dares to drag me right? I can easily crush you with my barrier" I rolled my eyes at him as we entered the cafeteria. And as soon as we did everyone stared at us and started talking loudly amongst themselves.

"I'm fully aware but..." I glanced behind me as our eyes met.

"We both know that you wouldn't do it," I said grinning at the boy as he felt his cheeks heat up once again. As we reached the counter I slowly let go of his hand as I reached into my wallet and started pulling out some money. One of the ladies behind the counter saw me and approached me.

"One Strawberry Smoothie please," I said to the lady as she nodded her head, walking away to prepare the drink. As I watched the day walk away I turn towards Arlo beside me as I raised my eyebrow, he scrunched up his nose and glared at me.

"What?" I rolled my eyes and continued staring at him.

"What do you want?" I just smirked at the blonde boy.

"Well, don't you know how to say thank you?" I said in a sarcastic tone as he clicked his tongue in annoyance and snapped his head away.

"Come on Arlo, I'm waiting," I said to him as he crossed his arms. I snapped my head back towards the counter as I heard the lady come back with the cold smoothie in her hand.

"Here it is, is there anything else you want?" I shook my head before paying the lady. After doing so I turned back towards the stubborn blonde as I poked the boy's side making him flinch and turn around.

"Hey! Stop that!" I let out a chuckle as I held the smoothie out to him. He glanced down at it before he hesitantly took it making me smile.

"There! Now we both got a drink." I said to him before I started walking out of the cafeteria, with him trailing close behind me.

"thank you..." I stopped dead in my tracks as I slowly turned my head to see him walking away. I felt my cheeks heat up and I shouted out to him.

"Was that a thank you, from the king himself?!" I said pretending to act surprised as he didn't bother saying anything and continued walking away.

I let out a sigh before looking back at the boy's figure slowly walking away.

"Thanks for the food too!" I shouted the last part louder before I turned around in the other direction and began walking towards the class with my smoothie in hand, as the blonde boy did the same.
