Chapter 25: Ability Gone?

CRYSTAL'S POV

I glanced towards my magenta-haired best friend who was lying down on the couch. It's been a while since she woke up and I'm starting to get more worried. As I stared down at Sera's figure, I could see Elaine through my peripheral vision also looking down at the said girl with a sad and worried expression on her face.

"...Uh...Seraphina's been unconscious for quite some time now...I'm really worried about her. Should we take her to a hospital?" The bluenette said while putting her fingers together.

"That may be the best course of ac-"

"No. No authorities, we'll call Doc in the morning and we'll talk with the headmaster. But no authorities." John said as I nodded my head in agreement

"I agree, It'll just get more complicated with them involved," I said as the other two hesitated for a second but agreed anyway.

Morning came quickly as everyone was still asleep. Until I heard loud footsteps making me stir awake while wiping the drool off the side of my mouth. As I blinked several times to wake myself up I saw a familiar magenta-haired girl running off somewhere in the house.

"Sera?! Hey! Sera! Wait!" I shouted out to her but she ignored me. I ran after the girl and into the bathroom, I knelt beside her patting her back as she vomited.

"Sera are you okay?" she looked up to me then squinted her eyes as I kept calling her name.

"Hey, Sera! What happened?" I asked her

"Wait, hold on I just want to check something first," she said before dashing past me and towards John's room this time. I followed her into the room, and as I did I saw her holding an alarm clock. She grasps the clock with shaking hands.

There I understood what just happened, she tried activating her ability but nothing happened. The girl fell to her knees, her whole body shaking as I ran beside her.

"I can't...activate my ability! This whole time I've been trying, and nothing! How...? How did this happen? W-What did they do to me? What am I supposed to do-?!"

I then engulfed her in a tight hug trying my best to calm her down. She was tense but relaxed as she wrapped her arms around me, we stayed like that for a minute before pulling apart.

"Hang on Sera, let's not jump to conclusions yet. You just woke up a few minutes ago after being unconscious for nearly a day. The drug's probably still in your system and hasn't worn off yet. were going to call Doc, he'll know what to do." I said reassuring her. "Yeah...your right." Not long after John, Arlo and Elaine appeared behind us.

"Morning"

"Seraphina! Your awake!" The blonde and the bluenette said

"...Arlo What are you doing here?" Sera said

The blonde scoffed and gave a small smile to the magenta-haired girl. "Nice seeing you too."

"Oh! I forgot to mention, after John and I arrived we called Elaine for help and--!"

"IT so happened that Arlo was with her! so he tagged along. And it's a good thing he did too, last night while you were out cold some guys broke in and tried to take you. We figured they were the same people who drugged you. Thanks to Arlo we were able to fight them off. But they had some sort of ability dampening effect so we weren't able to capture them." John suddenly cut me off.

I guess he didn't want to let Sera know what actually happened that night.

"But don't worry everything turned out okay! At least you are safe. Right guys?" John said giving us the finger guns. I chuckled at Arlo's sour reaction when John made contact with him.

"Oh, btw I need to call Doc. Crystal can I borrow your phone for a sec? You see some jerks broke mine" John turned towards me. "Yeah sure, here" I handed him my phone as I raised my eyebrow at the black-haired boy's sudden change. I swear something going on here, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. John then started dialing Doc's number as the rest of us patiently waited, knowing Doc he would've eventually given John his number, I mean just count the times he had to go to the infirmary.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

Hello, this is Darren. To whom am I speaking?

Morning Doc! It's me!

...beep

"He hung up on me..."

"Wow, he's sure got your back," Arlo said sarcastically as John dialed Doc's number again. "Look, it's fine. I'll just call him again."

Ring! Ring! Ring!

"Hel--?"

"ITS 7 AM SATURDAY DUMBA**! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT? Nothing? Okay, great. I'm going back to sleep."

"Wait Doc, here me out! It's not me this time! There's something wrong with Sera!"

"...What exactly?"

"Well...We don't really know. That's why I called. Can you meet us at the infirmary in half an hour?"

"...KRGNPNNF!"

SLAM!

"What did he say?" The blonde king asked with his arm crossed and his unamused face on. John turned to us and gave us the thumbs up.

"I think we're good. Let's go!"

John and Sera went to the infirmary, whilst I tagged along with Arlo and Elaine to the headmaster's office to report the incident that occurred yesterday.

"Thank you three for informing me. I'll notify Keene of this incident as well. Is there anything else I should know?

"That's all sir" Is all Arlo said before the green-haired headmaster dismissed us. As the three of us were leaving the room I took a glance at the headmaster, he took notice and just nodded his head before I turned away and left the room. As we walked through the empty halls Elaine and Arlo started chatting about stuff, but I didn't really listen in their conversation as I minded my own business. But what Elaine said next made me want to listen in.

"It's just...John. I never would've expected him to be ranked so high, for some reason that makes me feel uneasy." Elaine said as she took a glance my way, which I noticed.

"Do you need something Elaine?" I asked the bluenette with one eyebrow raised. She jumped at my question then quickly turned away to avoid my gaze.

"It's...it's nothing." I guess Elaine isn't as prideful as she was when I first met her huh?

"Well I'm heading home, see you guys next week," I said so casually as I continued walking towards the entrance of the school while waving my hand at them. They stood there glancing at each other than glancing back at me.

"...What the..."
