Chapter 1: Awakening (1)

In a mysterious pitch-black room, a small white sphere suddenly materialized gradually growing larger until it exploded in a dazzling display of light illuminating the entire space and rom the burst of light emerged a small ethereal sprite no bigger than the palm of a hand. With its pale skin, long white hair yellow eyes delicate white wings and flowing white dress it hovered gracefully above a round white marble altar the room seemed to stretch infinitely void of walls or other structures and it was bathed in an otherworldly radiance.

As the sprite observed a young woman lying on the altar dressed in a long white gown with pale skin long black hair and dark eyes it playfully called out 'Wake up Sunshine.'

Lily heard a shrill high voice and opened her eyes immediately noticing that everything around her was stark white and she was confused. She sat up and noticed that she was sitting on white marble and turned and felt something cold on her back and realized that she was sitting on an altar.

'I was about to take a dump and wake up on an altar.' She mumbled even more confused.

'Welcome to Elysium White Lady.' A shrill voice suddenly said, and she turned around to see a little white sprite floating in front of her.

'Who are you? Why have you shrunk?' She asked curiously for it looked like a spirit deity like herself but just in a mini version that didn't exist in the spirit realm.

The sprite was offended and replied, 'Tch. I am greeted with insult. I'm your guide.' It glared at her while its eyes shot fire.

Lily was confused and said, 'I was about to push out a big poop so have you come to guide me on how to help it out?'

The sprite got angry and shouted, 'I'm your character guide. Impudent. Who the hell wants to guide your shit?' It looked at her with disgust.

Lily had never heard that one could get a guide for oneself and speculated whether the oracle had sent it to her as help but why was she lying on an altar as if she was being worshipped?

'Explain to me what I can do with your guidance.' She said.

Suddenly the room filled with a cacophony of pinging sounds and to her astonishment numerous figures appeared floating in a circle around her and surprisingly she recognized all of them from the books the oracles had allowed her to read but why were they appearing now? Each of them exuded an air of power and high status making her nervous about the possibility of a war breaking out between the races. Among the figures her gaze locked onto a godlike male elf who stood tall and slender possessing a feminine appearance, pale skin, and long hair adorned in a flowing white robe and his feet bare.

Overwhelmed by his presence she immediately rose and bowed before him humbly addressing him as the 'Greetings, almighty leader.'

To her surprise the sprite responded with laughter taunting her, 'Are you blind or what? That's a character race you need to choose.'

Blinking in confusion Lily realized that she could select one of them as her guide and sought the strongest among them and surveying the options she noticed they were all men but that didn't concern her.

'Which race is the strongest?' She inquired to ensure she made the right decision.

The sprite offered its insight, 'There are different opinions on each race's strengths. Dwarves are known for their expertise in craft and mining and in battle they can be a pain in the ass, but they do have a stubborn personality. Elves are swift and precise with their movements. Sirens possess the ability to enchant people with their voice but controlling it can be tricky and...'

Lily interrupted the sprite with a raised hand indicating she was not interested in a lengthy introduction and sought a direct answer, 'Which one is the strongest?'

'Draconic humanoid, demon...' The sprite began again but she quickly cut it off confidently proclaiming, 'I'll take the demon.'

Clearly annoyed, the sprite looked at her and then came up with an idea saying, 'It's done. Now...' But before it could continue Lily interjected again now understanding the process, 'Can I change the appearance?'

The sprite nodded, 'Yes, what do you want to change?'

Lily passionately explained that her demon should be as beautiful as possible as she had always yearned to admire a gorgeous face. Born with an average appearance she had endured bullying feeling disgusted by the fact that all spirit deities were godlike beautiful where perfection and flawlessness abounded so if this demon was to be her guide she wanted to relish the sight of it for a long time. Suddenly the other characters around her disappeared leaving only a male demon standing before her. He was tall and slender with pale skin and with a pair of black horns on each side of his head, and his medium-length black hair, purple eyes, and attire of black clothes and a purple cloak made him look godlike beautiful. Satisfied with her choice she smiled proudly.

Upon seeing her decision, the sprite grinned cunningly and announced, 'Now you have to choose your class.'

A red rectangular interface materialized in front of Lily floating in the air and startled by the unfamiliar sight she exclaimed, 'What kind of witchcraft is this?' Her eyes widened with curiosity.

'It's your interface and the list on the right shows your class.' The sprite calmly explained guiding her through the process.

Lily glanced at the short list of classes intrigued by the idea of rangers gracefully shooting arrows in all directions only to have them return after hitting their targets and eagerly she clicked on ranger but to her dismay an error sound echoed leaving her puzzled and she tried again and again still encountering the same issue. Growing annoyed she then spotted the option for cleric and hesitated because it felt like fate calling out to her. As a spirit deity she had a deep affinity with nature and had been blessed by the spirit god with the unique ability to heal plants however this particular power made her the target of ridicule and bullying alongside her other fears unrelated to her world such as hay fever and fear of darkness and ghosts and despite the hardships she faced she refused to let the bullies get to her and embraced her emotions even though other spirit deities were forbidden from expressing feelings while serving the spirit god. Their hurtful words only reinforced her aversion to being compared to humans causing her body to tremble with disgust whenever she heard the word and ionically her tormentors constantly yearned to be human desiring to experience love and dating and it was an odd contradiction and she found it bewildering.

She selected the cleric class but once again an error sound filled the air leaving her angry and frustrated and she glared at the sprite complaining, 'It doesn't work. This is a rotten system you have.'

However, within seconds something blinked on the screen presenting a picture of a male demon identical to the one floating before her and the title 'Necromancer' appeared startling her.

It was not the choice she made, and she couldn't hide her irritation as she shouted at the sprite, 'I chose cleric, but you give me a necromancer. Are you blind?'

The thought of being associated with necromancy, something frowned upon in her world filled her with fear.

Unfazed the sprite retorted, 'Tch. First you insult me and then you continue to insult me. You stopped me before I could explain more about Elysium.'

Lily's anger intensified and she yelled, 'You're a disgrace to whatever you are. You can't even handle your job properly. I hope your superior fires you after this episode.' And pointed at it.

In response the sprite's anger surged and with a snap of its fingers everything turned black before Lily's eyes and when she blinked again she found herself lying on her back gazing at a beautiful blue sky with a gentle sun shining down creating a pleasant spring-like atmosphere.

As she sat up she spotted a magnificent white city with tall buildings and magical creatures soaring around creating an idyllic scene. Rising to her feet she felt a warm breeze brushing against her skin as she breathed in the air however something scratchy tickled her nose and she sneezed. Her hay fever seemed to have joined the adventure and she hoped it wouldn't bother her too much.

Confused she muttered to herself, 'Where am I?' And glanced around realizing she stood on the edge of a vast forest. Suddenly a ping sound startled her, and she wondered what new surprise awaited her. An announcement sounded in her mind.

You are in The Neutral Zone. Here PvP is prohibited. Today is the Lord's Year, exactly 100,000 years.

'The heck?' She blurted out even more puzzled and as she tried to recall her situation she remembered the demon guide she was supposed to receive however to her dismay he was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly she heard a ping sound again and the interface reappeared before her. There was a title and she saw a picture of a figure which was slender petite with light brown skin and long black hair, and it donned a thigh-short white dress and though the face was blurred it left her feeling puzzled. Out of curiosity she touched the figure's right knee and experienced a tingling sensation in her own right knee and the figure turned mirroring her current appearance and she realized the interface could control her.

At the top of the screen, she noticed the title 'Necromancer' but she hesitated to interact further fearing accidental consequences.

"Go away." She mumbled and the interface disappeared in front of her.

She felt surprised and relieved that her command worked avoiding any potential judgment from others because the notion of being perceived as a perverted rascal playing with dolls unsettled her. Still the blurred face and the absence of her demon guide left her feeling deceived and regretful for not making more demands earlier and she sighed deeply determined to double-check for any overlooked details. Opening the interface again she saw the list of classes and to her surprise cleric was blinking and her heart skipped a beat because it turned out she had indeed obtained her cleric class, but the title mistakenly displayed "necromancer."

A smile of satisfaction crossed her face knowing the guide's error had worked to her advantage and her amusement bubbled and she couldn't contain her laughter as she proclaimed, "The spirit god is with me."
