1 Lily (1)

A young womam in her twenties, woke up early in the morning, her body drenched in cold sweat from all the nightmares. She looked like she hadn't slept for months, with dark circles under eyes.

She slowly exhaled and inhaled for a few minutes to calm her hurried breathing, and after calming down, she whispered "Status" and some sort of lame game like system panel showed before her, in a form of a holographic screen that only she can see even if someone was close to her.

[System Panel]

Name: Lily

Age: 21

Lifespan: 80 (Higher lifespan is possible if host can advance to higher grade)

Race: Human

Ability Rank: F - Grade (Evolution to a higher grade is possible if host can consume energy source that comes from a lifeform of a higher grade)

Ability: Tame (Unknown Use)

She sighed, and closed the status window, with her mind and said quietly "still the same, nothing has changed" She then yawned and stretched out her limbs, and got off her small bed.

She turned on the lamp light, that cast a dim glow for the room. She yawned once more, with her hand covering her mouth. She then proceeded to take off her nightgown, and be left with only her undergarments and the lamp casting a dim light, on her torso that showed all the bruises all over her.

And some bruises on her legs, showing old bruises mixed with new one's. She should have been grunting in pain, with bare minimum movement, but she simply ignored the bruises, and began wearing tights, a vest and her worn out pair of running shoes.

She looked over the lamp table, and saw her phone, which she picked up to check that the time was exactly 4:00 am, then returned the phone on the table. She quietly unlocked her bedroom door, and open it. She didn't bother closing the door behind her.

She walked silently towards the apartment's door, and while leaving, she saw her father passed out on the living room floor, with about ten bottles of beer with him. She shook her head, from the stale smell of alcohol, and lack of hygiene wafting from her father, and decided to ignore him.

She didn't have to unlock the door, knowing her father. He definitely came in late at night and just closed the door without bothering to lock it, so she reached for the door, and twisted the knob open, quietly not to disturb her father, and left the apartment.

When she was at the hallway, she ignored the elevator, and took the stair, and climbed down, with a light jog and quickly reached the lobby, and walked out of the apartment complex. When outside, she was suddenly hit with the cold breeze of the morning.

It was still dark out, and she would barely make out anything if the streets lights weren't helping her. The apartment building was close to the street, and she saw cars passing through, and with a light exhale, she took the left and jogged towards the city's largest park.

Running made her feel better, as when jogging, she can think better, and finally breath, which is ironic considering jogging was supposed to shorten her breathe. Her light jog, turned into running really, then sprinting, passing through many buildings, and people going off to work.

She even ran passed through a villain and hero, wearing their stupid costumes fighting one another, and she had to take a different route not to get caught in the cross fire of their abilities. This world was now one of mystery, an enigma that even the strongest humans dare not find the answers to the origin of their abilities.

It happened fifty years ago, the first appearance of this system that barely does anything like today's rpg games, which have stats, and characters that are alloted points for their attributes and they grow stronger.

The system the humans got just showed how advancing their awakened abilities will lead to higher lifespan and stronger usage of their abilities and only their abilities, meaning their physical strength can only match the burden of their ability and can't become higher unless born with a strength type ability.

But humans back then didn't understand much, but also didn't care, as what they understood was enough, kill those of higher rank than their own, become stronger, it quickly became mayhem and chaos, as mother's cried for their sons, and fathers died for their daughters.

It was then the payment for their abilities came to play, as unknown literal gates, began spawning in all parts of the world, then came out the monsters which made things get worse for humans, as they had dwindled their own race to be capable of defending against this monsterous and highly intelligent species.

Which were weaker than the real monsters that couldn't enter their world as they were too strong for humans to be able to fend for themselves and would only spell their extinction at that point, but they were going to die in the end, so it didn't matter.

It was then the true rulers of the human world showed themselves after hiding in plain sight for thousands upon thousands of years, they called themselves the demon kin, they looked exactly just like humans, the only exception being that they had horns and tails, and their most striking feature is that they were all extremely beautiful creatures.

Both the male and female creatures, were like angels disguised themselves as demons, that's how beautiful they were. They helped the humans with their spawning problem of monsters, then helped them build back their world structure back to it's past glory and even surpassing it.

The humans soon learned they didn't have to kill each other, as they could partake in dangerous adventures inside the gates and become stronger and sometimes on their quest meeting up with demon kin as they too were gifted with the system and they wouldn't pass up the chance to become even stronger.

Of course each time humans met up with the demon kin, enchanted by their beauty, they tried to rape them, that included women who threw themselves at the male demon kin. But would demons surrounded by beautiful women their entire lives be willing to settle for mere potato looking women, of course not.

So without fail all humans who thought themselves superior were castrated, tortured, and killed without fail. Humans outside who never once tried to mess with the demons didn't know how freightening they were, and thought all those who never returned from inside the gates were killed by monsters.

So lusting for power and to fulfill their primal instincts, they tried to kill all the men and make all the women their play things. It was then all those who now stand alive because if their long lifespan and hadn't partaken in the petty ungrateful war of the greedy humans learned to fear what is now known as the demon nation.
