59 Chapter(56)

Episode(56): A knights pride

 SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(56)

How could he, a Level 70 sage not know best how powerful this attack was?

It was one of his many attacks that even with the passing of time didn't become weaker.

This was mainly because it was an original skill he had created from scratch over the past 500 years.

None of his past opponents had ever managed to survive this move, much less defend against it.

And yet, just like that, his dragon was fished out of the air so easily.

No no no! How was this even possible!

Looking at the scene of the dragon struggling to break free, but the black chains tightly sealing its movements, everyone present couldn't help but draw in a cold breath.

His dragon looked no different from a fish caught in a net!

Hiss, was this really a dragon?

Then why was it caught so easily like any normal fish out of water?

And what was that black chain?

Why was it so damn formidable?

They had too many questions but no viable answers.

If even the sages' attack could be so easily blocked then what about them?

Many who had yet to even reach a high enough level instantly decided to run.

No one stopped them.

They also understood their feelings and the main reason the remaining few remained was because they knew that if they ran the demon would likely start a massacre in the capital.

They had to fight.

Sullivan also paid no attention to those that were running.

To him these ants would die sooner or later. Whether by his hands or by another it didn't really matter to him.

Right now he was just enjoying how frustrated the sage was.

[Such a weak attack, it's not even enough to start a fire! Are you sure your trying to hurt me?]

He smirked.

It wasn't a lie, but the truth really hurt.

The Sage felt as if he would cough up a mouthful of blood at any moment if this despicable guy continued to speak.

Sure, you dealt with it so easy but couldn't you at least show some effort?

Even if you didn't do anything at the least not speak about it!

Don't you know that words are sharper than knives?

The sage really felt like strangling this demon to death but he really didn't have the power to do it alone.

Sullivan sighed.

[It truly is boring to be invincible!]

Shameless!

The sage really wanted to walk up and give that arrogant face a slap right now or else he wouldn't be satisfied.

But after a long while of complaining and ranting in his head, he calmed down.

Right, there was no use getting upset over the fact that the other party was stronger than himself.

If he couldn't do it alone then all he had to do was find another way right?

[Hah, I admit you're amazing, but you aren't quite perceptive now are you?]

Sullivan Squinted his eyes.

Seeing the smirk of the sage's face, he wanted to sneer at him but the next moment he froze.

Puff*

A sword pierced through his back and straight through his chest.

Sullivan widened his eyes and spat out a mouthful of blood at the same time.

He was stunned.

Someone actually managed to sneak up on him?

[How about that? Still think humans are weak?]

A sweet and tender voice filled with the determination to fight drifted into his ears. Sullivan turned around to see someone he hadn't expected at all.

It was the current acting ruler of the Floren empire, Princess Maria!

He was shocked!

[Human...princess!]

Maria grinned.

She had been observing the situation so far and after she noticed that the demons attention was solely on the sage, she decided to move.

However she couldn't just make a move just like that.

Look at the situation.

A peak powerhouse at level 70 was being toyed with like a small child.

If she dared to step forward without a trump card she would be asking for death.

The question was, how to intervene?

No matter how she analyzed the situation, she didn't think that she could sneak up on that monster.

Was someone so strong not perceptive enough?

What a joke!

Even using her abilities to the limit she doubted she had a solid chance at all.

However, she didn't have to use her skills did she?

Right, currently she was nothing but a weak little chick to powerhouses like them.

What was the use in comparing skills at this level?

So, couldn't she use an item?

Fiddling in her storage ring for a bit she found a silver ring.

It was a consumable equipment and she was extremely reluctant to use it.

However, looking at the situation she didn't have a choice.

Unless she was going to run away and leave everyone to die?

But she couldn't do it.

Not only for the prestige of a ruler, but this was just her nature by fault.

She looked at the ring and decided.

It had the ability to conceal ones presence completely for at the least thirty minutes.

However if attacked the concealment would be lifted immediately and this only made it an item useful for infiltration or escaping.

What was even more frustrating was the number of uses.

It could only be used five times!

Seriously, the only consolation was that it would work on anyone below level 150.

Only if the opponent had an extremely high perception or level could they notice her existence.

She didn't know Sullivan's level so it was impossible for her to be certain whether this was actually work or not.

But, she had to try!

Thus, she didn't hesitate and used it to sneak up behind Sullivan.

To cut a long story short, it worked well in the end!

Droplets of blood fell to the ground one after the other.

[Ugh...kh!]

Sullivan coughed and the oozing black blood immediately showed the difference of humans and demons.

Maria was satisfied.

If her attack really didn't work she could only blame the heavens for making her stupid enough to try such a stunt.

Luckily, it worked and everything was fine.

Now all that was left was to capitalize on the momentum and things would definitely end in their favor.

But, why did they underestimate Sullivan so much?

Were they stupid?

[Tran...sfer!!]

A low voice almost like a whisper left his mouth.

Maria heard the mumbling and squinted but in the next moment she was left in shock.

That was because the demon she had stabbed was no longer there!

If not for the black blood on the blade of her sword she might have to reconsider whether or not she had been hallucinating!

She wanted to look around but before she could she felt her scalp tingle.

An extremely threatening aura caused her body to tremble and she felt as if this attack would send her to the afterlife.

She wasn't entirely wrong.

Sullivan was still holding back quite a bit, nevertheless he wanted to kill this princess that dared to land an attack on him.

The fist covered in white gloves exploded through the air leaving shockwaves behind its trail.

Maria didn't even have time to think before she raised her sword.

Instantly a heavy pressure assailed her and she was blasted back a few meters.

If she hadn't bent her body forward she might have rolled back uncontrollably.

Maria wanted to instantly run back to Sullivan and clash again, but she didn't have the time.

Sullivan raised his left hand and with his movement Maria instantly felt a sense of danger from below.

She didn't even hesitate to move aside.

Shu!

Black spike rose from the ground terrifying and menacing.

It was estimated that if she reacted a second later she really would have died there.

Her heart trembled.

If she hadn't seen his initial movements wouldn't she have died? What a terrifying opponent!

She couldn't face him alone!

Maria decisively jumped back.

She felt lucky because Sullivan Vanished the next moment and appeared striking down at the ground where she was.

Boom!

Instantly, the fist struck the ground heavily causing a huge pit and multiple cracks to spread.

While in the air, Maria was horrified by the sight.

She quickly twisted her body while retreating then shouted.

[Sage!]

She used magic to float down so her posture didn't crumble.

It would be too horrifying if Sullivan took advantage of her crumbling posture to attack.

The sage heard Maria's words and grinned.

[I'm on it...Geez what a bossy princess]

He didn't even need to hear what she wanted and he immediately understood her intentions.

Without a delay, both his arms stretched forward in Sullivan's directions and with a roar he shouted.

[HALT]

Halt, it was a magic that involved space.

Yes, the sage had aptitude for space magic but it wasn't great so he could only use a few spells.

However since he could only use a few spells he decided to perfect them to their limits and even with his low aptitude his spells could be considered the strongest.

'Halt' was also one of these spells.

It was the type to freeze the opponent on the spot for a few seconds.

It sounded like a short period of time but for experts seconds were very well like minutes and even hours.

It was long enough to send anyone to their deaths.

It was a chance situation when it came to higher leveled opponents.

The sage didn't know whether it would work, but the gamble indeed paid off!

Sullivan was immediately frozen in place unable to move a wink.

[Heavy strike!]

A loud shout came from the side.

The noble that had been tossed aside like rotten vegetables swung his sword.

This was to avenge his loss and not only that but the opportunity to strike was too good to give up!

He wanted to kill it with this attack of his.

If he couldn't even scratch it when it couldn't even fight back then what use was the sword in his hands?

He instantly activated his 'Heavy strike' and it gave him an additional boost in strength and speed.

The attack was sure to cause damage!

But unlike his predictions, only a clang was heard before Sullivan was sent flying soaring through the air.

What?

What in the name of all that makes sense?!

Was this guy's body made of divine metal?!

But it was already too late, as Sullivan soared through the air his eyes were red with rage.

He was actually being jumped by the humans!

And the worst part was they were succeeding!

Ah, the humiliation!

He didn't care, he wanted to release all his power but if he really did that his face would really all be gone!

He could only contend with his current release and broke free from the suppression.

At the same time he twisted his body and landed with a stability that showed he was extremely skilled.

But at that moment a streak flashed by and there was a cut on Sullivan's cheek. It dripped black blood causing Sullivan to frown.

Once again he was injured by a human!

Sullivan tilted his head and was surprised to see that it was the woman that had not moved up until now.

When he saw her he first thought she was skilled, however her level and potential were too low so he didn't pay much attention.

How did such a woman injure him?

He could understand the princess since she used a high ranked magic tool, but this woman merely used so mediocre silver sword and it still injured him?

But he didn't stay there to get a beating.

He stood up quickly.

At the same time Mavis rotated, stomped forward while drawing her sword up through the air.

Her movements were swift, although not perfect she barely wasted time from she turned before she switched to attacking.

The sword plunged into Sullivan's body tearing a deep wound up from his waist to his neck.

Blood spurted wildly.

But as if this attack didn't hurt at all, Sullivan's cold face had a hint of curiosity expressing his intrigue.

He merely slapped the sword with his right hand.

This caused the sword to change trajectory and cut up through his left shoulder instead.

Any normal person would normally be in pain at this moment, however Sullivan still remained calm and struck out.

His sharp claws were like those of a wild beast thrusting at her chest and Mavis had no doubt she would definitely die if his attack landed.

She quickly slashed down with the blade meeting the claw attack with a heavy collision forcing her back.

However even after being forced back, Mavis still stood up with a determined expression and shouted.

[Demon!]

Her eyes were unwavering and filled to the brim with determination and endless persistence.

It was as if she was a rampart wall saying to all her enemies, "You shall not pass!"

[Your power is great. I will acknowledge that at the very least]

Mavis gripped her sword tightly with both hands and gazed deeply at her opponent.

She would never lose.

Even if she died, as a knight she couldn't allow herself to lose spirit!

[Don't think that you can trample on the pride of Floren!]
