1 Chapter(1)

Episode(1): The day that changed everything

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(1)

The day that changed everything~ (1)

It was a sunny day.

Birds chirped sweetly a wonderful tune that was carried away by the blowing of the wind.

The clouds blanketed the blue skies, however this didn't stop the sun's radiance in the slightest.

It was now summer so it was literally show time for the sun.

How could it let go of the chance to torture the humans that could only walk below it?

At this time school was in session.

Classes had been underway since morning and now lunch was mid-way almost to coming to an end.

Most of the kids had already finished their lunches and were now either playing games, surfing social media, gossiping or doing whatever cliques do nowadays.

It was the same for all the classes no matter where you looked, kids could be separated into groups and categories.

Having come so far in the school year it'd be a wonder if cliques and ranks hadn't been formed yet.

On the second floor of building B, Classroom A for smart kids was bustling as well.

This was one of the three classes for smart kids. As an intelligent class you would expect a group of poised young men and women.

Unfortunately this was a troubled class for smart kids.

This was because even though all the kids in this class always scored above 75% on every exam they didn't have the same air of the bright and intellectual.

No, this was like your typical public high school classroom. Literally any type of person could be found in this place it was almost like a zoo containing different species.

Class clown, gal, delinquent, queen bee, class bell, bookworm, otaku, you name it.

It was surprising, still that none of these students ever scored below 75% so even though they were all troubled the school couldn't really do anything to reprimand them for the time being.

Thanks to this the class was pretty much normal and everyone was doing whatever they wanted to do at this time.

Not far in the corner of the classroom, at the very back of the class sat a boy staring outside the window.

His face had a blank expression as if he didn't care about a thing and he mindlessly looked out the window.

No one noticed him, no one talked to him and he was like air in the bustling classroom.

This person was Kanata Nagisa.

He wore black rimmed glasses and his black hair hung down his face to form bangs.

If he didn't purposely move them away from his face then no one would see his actual face.

Most of the kids ignored him because of this gloomy look that seemed to scream 'loner'.

However no one seemed to even notice that this inconspicuous youth was smiling as he stared outside.

The smile on his face was serene.

As if he didn't even care about being ignored. It was as if this time alone was the most peaceful time of his life.

And this fact wasn't too far from the actual truth.

Truth be told, he had a secret. It was a secret that no one except his close family knew about.

Firstly, this wasn't his original appearance.

The black hair was a wig and the glasses were plastic. In other words the glasses was utter trash he didn't even need.

It even sometimes made it harder for him to see clearly.

Nonetheless he had to wear the glasses.

It was a disguise to cover up an even larger secret of his that no one could find out or else his life would really be flipped upside down.

Kanata Nagisa, he was the heir to the Kanata group, a multi-billion dollar corporation.

The group had many local and international business and was even famous in even the remote corners of the world.

If it was known that the heir of that very group was in a class filled with commoners, just what kind of stir would that kick up?

Kanata was a loner through and through so he really didn't want anything to do with other people.

Maybe it was due to his upbringing but he never saw the need for relationships aside from family and blood.

It wasn't that he looked down on others, it was just that other people felt so distant as if he really couldn't accept them as the same species.

When he looked at others aside from his family he felt like he was staring at another race.

That wasn't the only reason however.

Being brought up as the heir to a huge conglomerate and studying martial arts from a young age his mental fortitude had reached crazy levels now that he was a teen.

Why he studied martial arts?

The Kanata family, as far back as history dates they were a family that bred powerful assassins, swordsmen and martial artist.

People would fear the name when his ancestors were within the vicinity.

As his gramps said, when a Kanata was on the scene every other person had to walk on the other side of the road.

These days however there was literally no need for martial artist in the modern world where killing and violence were looked down upon.

This made it hard for the Kanata family to continue surviving as just martial artist family and they had to find a new way to survive.

Seeing how the world changed and recording ways in which power could not only be preserved but to continue expanding, the Ancestors adapted a business approach to seizing power in the modern era.

The Kanata's didn't want to lose the prestige and power they had gained so since martial arts couldn't do it any longer they got into business leading to the current success of the family.

Still, just because the family gave up martial arts doesn't mean they don't still practice it.

On the contrary, there was a secret force inside the family that trained powerful fighters from a young age.

Also, it was compulsory for every heir of the group to learn and master martial arts by the age of 20. Nagisa was no exception to this rule.

Ever since he was 4 years old all he'd known was training.

Due to this, even though the current Nagisa was just, 15 he had already mastered all the martial arts he was taught.

With a genius mind and crazy battle adaptability it was easy to master every martial art he was taught and he could perform them like flowing water down a stream with no flaws or mistakes.

Even his grandfather and patriarch of the family felt awed at his comprehension talent and potential.

However no one could solely attribute his current strength and ability to talent alone.

Sure, he was a smart kid and had crazy memory.

However, his mastering the martial arts that took all his predecessors years to comprehend was all due to his gramps literally smacking him half to death every single training session.

Recalling the abuse made his spine tingle.

His grandfather was a very skilled martial artist which made it difficult to even catch his afterimage.

Then, imagine being thrashed one-sidedly without mercy constantly by such a person?

It wasn't fun at all.

He felt some resentment in his heart, if he hadn't mastered the skills and techniques he would still be receiving bruises every day.

Now however he was a solid match for his old man so he no longer needed to accept his abuse.

He still had to train daily, however his training had gotten a lot easier with his improvement in the martial arts.

All that was left for him to fulfill his requirements to take over as the true heir of the family was to learn business.

That was something he would have to do in college however so he wasn't too worried about it.

Being currently only in his first year of high-school that meant he had a whole two years and a few months before he had to start thinking about all that confusing stuff so he wasn't too worried about it.

In the end all he was concerned about was how to use the freedom he gained for two years.

Two years was long but before he knew it two years would only flash by.

Wasting such precious time wasn't something he would do, but he had nothing in mind.

'I should do some more sword training when I get home'

In the end swinging his sword was all he could think about.

He had no special past time activities like playing games or chatting with friends, in fact his phone contained only two numbers.

One was his gramps and the other was his protector that silently followed him around.

Others?

Not a fat chance.

Although a normal teen wanted friends and such.

For Nagisa Kanata, his mind was filled with swords and nothing more than sword. He had to gain strength.

'I'll never let the past repeat itself'

Scenes of a woman covered in blood and the young Nagisa crying over her corpse crossed his mind.

It was obvious he had some trauma that led him to want to grow stronger but only he knew what it was.

At the same time training had become somewhat of a calming routine or rather it was therapeutic to him.

When he swung the sword, the sword was him and he was the sword. Combining the two together he was who he wanted to be.

The sword was to him, a partner he never wanted to let go of ever!

Vrrr!*

Just then, the phone in his pocket vibrated, waking him up from his daze.

He reached into his pocket then took out his smartphone and looked at the message that read-

'Return early, I'll let you meet someone'

Reading the message that came from his grandfather Nagisa sighed.

His grandfather never texted or called him unless it was serious. Most of the times he had received a text message it was telling him to go somewhere he would be ambushed.

In the end this was all a stage set up by his gramps to check his strength. He wondered what it was this time and sighed.

Maybe his grandfather was going to introduce him to some big shot assassin or something.

[No way]

Nagisa refused to have his peaceful time interrupted and be tossed around by that old coot.

Probably when he was still weak and couldn't fight back, now however.

'i'll tell him once and for all that I'll no longer be his punching bag!'

He was filled with a fighting spirit. No longer was he going to face suppression but he would rise above the tyranny and show his might!

It was then-

~Wah! What the-

~All of a sudden?!

~What's with the light!?

All of a sudden, screams could be heard.

A bright light drowned the entire class room spreading out with this class at the center.

The bright light formed by a strange pattern on the floor spreading out constantly beyond the class to cover the entirety of building B.

Every classroom from the second year to third years were screaming in panic but that didn't stop the fact that the light kept expanding.

Finally, after a while the light stopped expanding and vanished.

However along with its disappearance it also took away Building B leaving nothing but a huge crater where it used to be.

On Wednesday 23 of the year 2018, it was reported to the entire world that a terrorist attack flattened an entire building and killed 70 plus students, 13 teachers and a few of the best security guards in the school.

Parents called the school with broken voices and teary eyes to complain but that didn't bring back their children's lives.

The spouses of the teachers did the same but it amounted to nothing.

Even the school was puzzled as to what happened.

Was this some alien attack or was the government testing out a new weapon? They could only told the public what the government told them to say without questions no matter what.

As humans however, they understood the feelings of everyone who lost something and felt deep sympathy for them all.

The school then finally mustered up the courage and decided to hold a mass memorial for all the lost lives.

The government also saw nothing wrong with this and gave their approval instead.

A huge crowd of people, sorrowful relatives and curious people along with the news station showed up to broadcast what was happening live.

The feed was sent across the entire nation and no one missed it.

All who weren't there watched the scene on live TV or on the official websites.

In the middle of all this, a middle aged man with silver blue hair and green eyes dressed in a dark long coat and black fedora hat looked at the scene.

He held no emotion in his expression.

It was as though this whole thing had nothing to do with him at all.

Beside him was a handsome youth that seemed to exude majesty and charm.

His golden pupils were like two brightly shining stars and his figure was better and fitter than any male model that could exist in the universe.

But, for some reason no one recognized the boy with outstanding looks and charm. As if he wasn't even there to begin with.

No one except the middle aged man seemed to notice.

The middle aged man continued to look forward.

His eyes set on the portrait of a youth with black hair and long bangs covering his eyes with circular rimmed glasses that didn't stand out.

Although his face was cold and detached, his eyes held endless emotions in them.

The youth sat by the side with a drink as he sipped from the straw. He looked at the middle aged man and noticed his grief.

The youth smiled and said.

[Don't worry, that boy's path doesn't end here. I guarantee it. He has a long journey ahead of him]

His voice was soothing and seemed to send the listeners mind into a calm state.

He spoke very casually but when he did, it caused most people around him at this moment to enter a blank state and their eyes looked dead.

The middle aged man saw this phenomenon and shook his head. This all happened just because the being beside him spoke.

Normal mortals couldn't handle the tone of his voice and it caused their minds to overload.

Luckily, the boy waved his hand and the lingering tune of his voice vanished into the void.

Soon after the people had returned to normal as if nothing had happened.

The middle aged man shook his head bitterly but he didn't say anything.

Seeing that he wasn't convinced, the youth said in a calm tone.

[He's my descendant so what's there to worry about?]

Right, this youth was the ancestor of this middle aged man and also Nagisa's ancestor. No, it was more correct to say he was the progenitor of the Kanata family.

His Name was Leon, God of Origin!

It seemed impossible but it was the reality!

The youth seemed so carefree even though everyone else was wallowing in the pain of losing their loved ones. Still, it was as if he was in a world alone as no one noticed him at all.

[What about you, will you return to the sanctum? Your father keeps bothering me to bring you back and it's annoying you know? I'm your great ancestor not some messenger pigeon]

It sounded as if he was angry but his smiling face said it didn't bother him at all.

The man lowered his fedora over his face and didn't say anything for a moment. The place around the two were silent.

Even with the wailing and screaming and crying, the space surrounding them were completely quiet and unaffected by the noise as though they were in a separate dimension altogether.

Clouds gathered overhead making the view of this man darken even further.

His face could no longer be seen under the dark shade of the clouds, but when the clouds had finally vanished and his face was displayed he was no longer the middle aged man he once was!

His face had changed to that of a twenty year old youth.

Although he wasn't as handsome as the youth beside him, his face was extremely dashing.

[I was tasked to protect the young master but I failed]

The man said solemnly.

[Come on now! That's not your fault. Even I never knew a space fissure would open the moment I arrived. If I knew I would have strengthened the barrier around the earth. But hell, things happened]

The man lowered his head in shame. He never wanted to fail, especially when his great ancestor was around.

[Even so, I failed. I will punish myself by going to purgatory for a hundred years. If I should survive then I will return to the clan]

The youth beside him frowned but didn't say anything.

He knew about purgatory, he had been there once before. For him, it was a breeze but that was just because well, he was freaking strong.

It wasn't without reason why he was the ancestor of an ancient family and was called a 'God'.

But to make his descendant go there was like sending him to his death. Purgatory wasn't a place you would send someone to play.

Rather it was a burial grounds that other beings used to discard evil beings and people they wanted to kill but couldn't because they were too strong and could only be sealed.

Even the environment was so un suitable for living that even God's stayed far from that damn place.

Only the most unfortunate of people would ever end up there.

Heck, the reason he ended up being trapped in purgatory once was because he hand mistakenly stepped into a teleportation trap laid out by someone else for their enemy.

Even though he went there and conquered it in a few months, he couldn't help other people who went inside since it was a separate space.

If he tried to force it open it would collapse and cause nearby worlds to be destroyed so he wouldn't lend a hand no matter what.

Still, he had chosen so what could he do other than support the decision?

He sighed, turned and began to walk away. Thereupon his body began to blur until his figure vanished. But before he had completely disappeared he left the words.

[Stupid descendant, don't get yourself killed. Make sure you're alive to account for that young master, he's still young and doesn't know the secrets behind our bloodline.

Or that you're not really his grandfather. You need to explain to him alive and well. So don't be too hard on yourself]

The man looked in the direction the youth vanished, before lowering the fedora then vanishing himself.
