Help needs help

A stampede? Why would there be a stampede of zombies...? Feroo thought in place for a couple seconds, until it finally hit him. Clearly, they are running away from something... something stronger.

Feroo ran back in, and yelled out, "Wake up! Wake up you idiots something big is coming!" Both of them woke up. They quickly grabbed their weapons and feroo informed them of what he saw.

They were ready to hide in the underground tunnel they made, but feroo had a thought. At the rate this is going, the shelter is going to get destroyed! If we could both hide and save the shelter... that would really improve our survival chances in the future!

While feroo was thinking, Suri yelled out, "Feroo, stop standing around! Come hide in the hidey hole!" Feroo quickly informed them, "I seem to have an ability to temporarily power up... I don't know why, and I don't know exactly what it is... do you guys think we could use this?"

With that, Mothly was reminded of his thought the day before. When he could sense the faint aura of a beast from feroo. With this, Mothly quickly made come connections and arrived at a conclusion.

If Feroos "ability" were to increase that beastly aura, he could perhaps intimidate the zombies so they turn directions away from the shelter. It's true that feroo himself is only about twice as strong as a zombie, but for humans, equipment is part of their strength. Anything that has to do with strength is affected by equipment, its just the way this world works. So by that logic, feroo should provide enough intimidation, that at the very least, the zombies should consider him a hindrance to running from whatever is after them.

Mothly said, "Feroo, activate the ability, I want to gauge the aura strength."

Feroo obliged, and drew out the power hidden in his body, silent through the pain. Mothly gauged, "that should be enough..."

Soon, the plan was done and ready to be put into action. Mothly stayed in the tunnel, keeping it open for the other two to run inside. Feroo had gone outside, faced in the directions of the zombies, and Suri made conjurations of beings in the form of feroo, so the zombies assume that there are multiple of the same strength.

Indeed, the plan had worked. The zombie slightly changed their angle, but that meant they would miss the shelter entirely. With the plan working, they both went inside. With a wave of Suris' wand, the entrance was sealed.

The rumbling sounds of footsteps could be heard from above. Every second, it would get louder and louder. The three stayed silent, and suri was reinforcing the ground above them with her magic.

Eventually, after a peak in the sound, it started getting lower and lower. The three sighed in relief. However, at this moment, from afar, fast, hard footsteps could be heard. Louder and louder, at a rapid pace. Eventually, it got so loud that even their ears hurt. Eventually, it started getting lower in volume. A short time later, the screams and groans of zombies could be heard. Later, it all went silent.

"THUM!" "Piak?" "THUM!" "THUM!" "Piak?"

The sounds of mountainous steps could be heard, with chicken sounds in between.

"PEK!" The sound of a chicken peck resounded in their ears. As time passed, more and more sounds could be heard around them. Eventually, the PECK could be heard right above them. "Cluck?" The being had discovered something. "PEK!" "Pek!" It had found their hiding spot. Excited at having discovered prey, it clucked out. "Cluck Cluck!!!!"

Being discovered, the three, still in their underground hiding spot, ran back to their base. Their plan had worked out wonderfully, as they saved the base, now it could be used to fight this... thing.

Once back inside, suri said, "That thing is likely an adult chilchin! A creature with the body of a cockatrice yet a stronger body than one!"

They all took a deep breath, damn! Something big was surely waiting for them....
