Unbound Familiar

An avid gamer nerd's dreams come true in another brutal yet lucky? fashion. Follow him as he does his best not to die in laughably humiliating ways, all while trying to escape his abrupt and unwanted servitude. Will his knowledge of the world he finds himself help him succeed? Will he return home? Will evolve past his title of 'Dog'? Read and find out! This will be another multiversal world-hopping story, similar to my other one, EBW. I'll not spoil the surprise of the first world, but Skyrim will eventually be involved... And no, I'll not be adhering to plot, instead destroying it and hopefully not butchering the original story in the process. Bounce

Michael Pounces away and Pounces again off of a scorched tree just as two waves of fire from two different directions envelop the paralysed dragon, burning it to death as it whimpers uselessly. Michael lands on the ground and the steam had cleared enough by now to allow him to see what was going on, his eyes widening as he spots just had much chaos he and the dragons had caused.

Almost every tree nearby was on fire, and huge plumes of smoke were wafting into the sky as if they were smoke signals saying, "COME AND KILL ME!". The two enraged dragons were still breathing fire on their downed comrade, allowing Michael to leap onto one and drive his blade deep into its eye. This surprisingly kills it instantly, causing its flame breath to stop as its lifeless head drops to the floor.

He looks at the last remaining dragon and squints his eyes in thought. Should he just leave it alive to make it ambiguous on who caused this? One of the dragon's had been burned to death, so if he left the knights corpses to burn anyone who finds this might just think it was a rogue dragon?

He nods to himself, deciding to just leave. Dealing with these dragons was difficult enough, and he couldn't waste time-fighting it when reinforcements would likely be here soon. He sheathes his sword and Pounces between the trees and over the bush fires raging around him. Eventually reaching unmarred forest and making his way back towards the cave. Leaving the raging dragon to do whatever raging dragons usually do...

Ralf Kaliker, leader of Albion's twenty-second unit of Dragon Knights leads a large group of his men towards the large smoke cloud that'd suddenly appeared over the forest. Once they arrive, he's unsurprised to find a large portion of the forest to be on fire. However, the cause of it was certainly surprising...

In the middle of the scorched clearing was a scarred dragon stomping around and breathing fire on everything and anything. Nearby, Ralf could see the burned corpses of two other dragons along with their riders, whose armour had turned red hot from the dragon fire covering the area.

"Men! Put out this fire! And capture this dragon!" he commands, raising his wand and casting his own spells. Stone shackles burst from the ground and begin wrapping around the dragon, this wouldn't usually be enough, but the dragon had tired itself out already, allowing him to slowly bring it to heel as his men deal with the forest fire.

An hour or so go by, and the fire is eventually dealt with, allowing Ralf and his men to land and inspect the scene. The first and most obvious thing was the fact that none of the knights had been killed by the dragon. Each of their charred corpses had large wounds on their necks, making it obvious that they'd been attacked by a considerably skilled enemy... Not many people would be able to cut the necks of mounted dragon knights... In fact, Ralf couldn't name a single person who he knew could do this...

Obviously, dragon's going beserk after their riders die wasn't uncommon, but usually, the other knights in the unit would be able to calm or subdue them before they caused too much destruction. The fact that dragon knights almost never died before their dragons was also something to consider.

"Sir! Yorick's dragon had been stabbed in the neck before it was killed! This must be our target!" one of the men report, causing Ralf to growl.

"This escaped slave of our illustrious leader is proving far stronger than I was told." Ralf mutters, wondering if this was some kind of karmic justice? He'd witnessed what Cromwell and the nobles had been doing to that young boy, so he couldn't blame him for escaping... It didn't make it any easier to lose his men though, these people he'd personally trained from recruits to knights...

"Men! Spread out and search for the area! The criminal couldn't have gotten far! Do not attempt to capture him alone!" he commands, causing a large portion of his men to fly off and start searching. Ralf looks to his Lieutenant, "Our target seems to be staying in this area... Go, make sure the nearby cities are ready for a potential attack. It may only be one man, but this one man was able to kill three of my men." he states.

The man nods and flies off with his dragon, first flying to the nearest city of Cendri.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael makes his way back into the cave and flops against the makeshift bedding on the floor with a groan. His cloak and clothes were all slightly blackened, having been scorched just by being near those damn dragons.

No doubt the enemy would be searching for him now, but at least he came out of the whole thing with some benefits. He rolls onto his back and pulls out the Book of Commoners, all while ignoring Tiffania who was worrying herself over his state.

He grins as he feels an influx of knowledge enter his mind, the techniques imbuing themselves into his body, making him want to leave the cave and test them all out immediately.

"Michael! Are you okay? Can you hear me? Ah! I need to do something!" Tiffania scrambles to do something, eventually pulling out the Fairy Fire and trying to get him to crush it when Michael finally stops her.

"Tiffania! I'm okay, alright! My mind's just elsewhere." he says as he allows the Book of Commoners to disappear.

"B-but you're burned!" she retorts, tugging at his scorched cloak.

"My clothes are a bit burnt, but I'm fine. Calm down..." he says, eventually going on to explain what'd happened. Tiffania all the while looking him over to make sure he wasn't lying...
