7 Ambush

{POV: Ultron}

It's been a week since my company launch. I had received a gigantic popularity boost right at the opening of my new headquarters in Chicago. It seems it paid off to become a Stark.

I kept the first product to enter the market very generic. It's a normal assault rifle, with the small but subtle difference that it's perfect. It's as easy to use as the AK 47, but has a lot more firepower, range and accuracy!

As you can imagine, my entry into the gun business went like clockwork. After I patented the new mechanisms built into it and my rifle, the military immediately ordered 100,000 rifles for 'extensive testing'. Of course, the military knows my rifle is perfect because I am a 'true Stark', but needs test results to be allowed to replace the entire army's equipment from a policy standpoint.

I think I need a larger production facility to keep up with demand. That and my future products seem like the perfect excuse to build a giant underground test and production facility.

Even if it's not the most efficient way, it's the way I'll take. I've always been a gigantic fan of Portal. Now that I have the opportunity to recreate the stuff from it, I'm going to take it and try to create everything the Portal games have to offer!

But these are all plans for the future. During the week that I established my company, released my first product, and introduced myself to the public, something else interesting and especially fun happened!

Justin Hammer tried to buy out Aperture and my patents. It was VERY amusing to hear him swear as he stormed out of my building. He played right into my hands with his hostile intentions.

I leave my office promptly at 9:00 pm every day and walk home - my apartment is not far away. And as predicted, Hammer does not disappoint when it comes to instigating assassinations.

While I am just on my way to my apartment and turn into an alley, I see many members of a local gang who have guns pointed at me. I smile slightly as the gang shoots at me. They pull the trigger and the bullets fly towards me, suddenly ricocheting off tiny energy fields.

I don't wait long before I put on special headphones from my purse and throw a blinking lipstick at my attackers, who are already trying to escape. They don't get far before they all fall to the ground unconscious.

I wait for the police and my little marketing stunt can begin....

{POV: Gangboss}

-before "Caroline" arrives in the alley-

As we stood there in the dark alley, guns pointed at the new Stark they called Caroline, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease. We were just a small gang trying to make a name for ourselves in this rough neighborhood, and this woman seemed anything but ordinary. She looked so confident, as if she knew exactly what we were up to.

"Come on, guys, let's show her we mean business," I said, trying to muster up some courage.

We fired our shots, but to our amazement, the bullets bounced off something in the air. It was like shooting at an invisible brick wall. Panic set in, and I could see the fear in my comrades' eyes.

"Let's get out of here!" I shouted, and we turned and ran as fast as we could. Hammer didn't mention anything about superpowers, we were ripped off!

{POV: curious local}

-while "Caroline" is in the alley-

I was just passing the alley when I heard gunshots. Curious, I peeked around the corner and saw a woman standing there unharmed while a group of gang members ran away, terrified. It was surreal.

"What the hell just happened?" I muttered to myself, trying to make sense of the situation.

The woman seemed calm, almost amused. Then she pulled out some strange-looking headphones and a blinking lipstick from her purse. What was she up to?

Suddenly she put on the headphones and threw the lipstick in the direction of the fleeing gang members. They stumbled and fell, one by one. I couldn't believe my eyes; it was like something out of a science fiction movie. As I tried to move away from the scene it was kind of hard to move my body, as if stunned.

{POV: Police Officer}

As a police officer on patrol, I received a call about shots fired in the area. When I arrived on the scene, I was surprised to find the gang members lying unconscious on the ground.

"What happened here?" I asked a bystander.

"I'm not sure. There was this woman, and she had some kind of invisible wall or something. She knocked the gang down with some kind of grenade..." the bystander replied, still in shock.

I walked up to the woman, who by now had taken off her headphones and looked composed and confident.

"Are you all right, ma'am? What happened here?" I inquired.

"Oh, officer, it was just a little self-defense action. They were pointing guns at me, so I had to protect myself," she said with a confident smile.

Self-defense? Against a gang armed with guns? I wasn't sure I believed her, but there was something intriguing and mysterious about her.

{POV: Ultron}

When the police arrived, I decided it was time to turn the case over to the press and police. The gang members had already been disarmed and incapacitated, so I looked like a superhero. The officers seemed confused.

"Officer, they tried to kill me, but I managed to neutralize them," I said with a smile on my lips.

The police officer seemed skeptical, but he nodded and called for backup to take care of the unconscious gang members.

After the incident, news of the encounter spread like wildfire. Some called me a hero - like father, like daughter. I'm sure the military will contact me soon for a few more orders.

When I returned to my headquarters, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. My little marketing stunt had worked, and the world was talking about the new Stark who had single-handedly taken down a gang.
