Tracing a path

Lucas tossed restlessly on his bed, his eyes fixed firmly on the reflection of light that shone from outside his room. It had been over two months since he had followed that nitwit and discovered that he had bought Chloe’s car. Lucas did not bother going back to work after leaving the poor innocent boy whose nose he had broken for no reason. Instead, he got into his car and drove to the used car lot that the boy had described to him. He was risking a query, especially with his behavior ever since Chloe left, but he could not be bothered to care. Soon, he was at his destination. To him, the place looked like the sort of scene that drug dealers did their business in movies. He got down from his car and walked around the perimeter of the used car lot, looking for any sign of life. It looked deserted, except for a lone stray dog that strolled about as though it owned the place. It cast a hungry, baleful look at him and then moved away, apparently deciding that he had nothing to offer.
