“So, Ethan. Who is the lucky girl?” Bruce asked, smiling knowingly at his friend as they sat in Chad’s living room, drinking.

“Excuse me?” Ethan asked, wondering what his friend knew or thought that he knew.

“Oh please.” Chad cut in. “You must think that we’re very foolish. We’ve known you since the first day of college, remember?”

“What lucky girl are you talking about, and what makes you think that there is a lucky girl somewhere?"

“So you’re denying it? Last I heard, mom said she was still living with you and that you were taking care of her.”

“Ah!” Ethan exclaimed, everything becoming clear to him immediately. Of course, they knew about Chloe, even though he did not tell them about her himself. Bruce’s mother was Doctor Hope, the doctor who had treated Chloe after her accident, and while Doctor Hope was known for many things, being able to keep secrets was not one of them.
