Disbelief

They did not have to wait outside Ethan’s house for two hours because about forty-five minutes after they got there, a cab arrive and parked in front of the house. Madison and Lucas squinted at the cab, wondering who it was that had arrived, but they did not have to wonder for long. The passenger’s side opened and out stepped Chloe from the vehicle.

Madison smiled gleefully and glanced at Lucas who was looking at Chloe as she got down from the car as though expecting someone else to get down from the car with her. Chloe did not spare them a glance where they sat in Lucas’s car, although even if she had, she wouldn’t have recognized them. The car windows were tinted.

“It looks like Ethan is not with her.” He said, his brow furrowing as the cab door closed and the woman began to walk up the front steps to the house.

“Yeah…Looks like it.”
