3 Chapter 2: Prologue (2/2): Shaping My Next Life.

A/N: Gonna be a lot of exposition before we get to the meat of this chapter. So you've been warned.

Location : ???

MC POV

'Okay, this place is not what I had expected it to look like.' I thought with mild confusion looking at what seemed to be a very large office but instead of cubicles each and every one of the people, I mean gods here have actual office rooms of their own. "So what did you say the name of this place was again?" I asked Phoeric as Hirikjurl had left us to head elsewhere. "This is the Hub of Reincarnation, well, it's one of the major branches of which I am the chief manager. And no, we don't bother with Karens as you called them on your world, we just send them to their next lives since it helps no one to listen to them." He said the former with pride, and the latter with a tinge of annoyance.

"Either way, let's move up to my office quickly. There's a lot of stuff for me to explain to you especially because of what happened to you." He says and I nod, continuing to follow him.

We reach his office after a few minutes of walking when he lightly sighs before we enter. As we enter, I notice a woman who I assume to be a secretary seated at a desk. She looks over and greets him. "Good day, sir. The chief called regarding the pending status on the soul from Truck-kun's time in that Earth's Nigeria a month ago." Phoeric sighs and responds. "I'll get to him on that, also this guy is the soul from back then." He says and points at me. I politely wave and say hello then continue following Phoeric into his main office.

"Take a seat. Now I'm going to explain what exactly happened to you from your death til now as well as ask you a few questions, understand." He says as the aura he exudes seems to change and I nod in affirmation.

(A/N: Long bit of exposition for the next few paragraphs)

"First, your death. You were killed by Truck-kun and..." Phoeric started and I interrupted. "Wait, Truck-kun, you mean THE Truck-kun, damn, I knew it." I say with some annoyance. And then immediately go on a rant.

...

"So you got that outta your system?" Phoeric asks while raising a brow. *panting* "Yeah, sorry about that. I didn't mean to be rude." I apologize and Phoeric shakes his head. "Don't worry about it. Anyway, getting back to your demise and its details. Like I said earlier, you were killed by Truck-kun, however he wasn't even meant to. be in Africa let alone Nigeria, so your death was already a special case from then. Now, this would have been no problem with that if you ended up in the normal queue for souls to be reincarnated, but you somehow ended up in the Abyss. Before I continue with that, do you have any questions?" He asked after his initial explanation. I thought for a bit and asked the only question that could come to mind. "Was my family okay after I died?" I asked and he answered, albeit after what seemed to be contemplation.

"They grieved for a bit and eventually went on with their lives and died peacefully." He said. 'Died?' "What do you mean died?" I asked a bit confused. After all, there's no way they all died after just some days right. "You see, time runs quite differently in the afterlife and god realms when compared to the mortal realms and even more so to the astral void, where you were. Here at the Hub of Reincarnation, time moves a thousand times slower than the mortal realms." He explained. "How long was I stuck in the astral void?" I asked him. "30 days. Not to mention the part of the astral void you were at was the Abyss, a point in the void where the time dilation is massively elevated." He explained with slight sadness in his voice.

"How much is the ratio between here and where I was?" I asked as an eerie calm came over me which he noticed as he sighed. "It was far greater than I had expected when I found out you were in the Abyss. It's a ratio of 1 to 974 billion. We might have seen the time you spent there as 30 days but you were in fact stuck in the Abyss for 80 billion years" He said and my eyes widened in shock.

'80 billion years?! But why?' I thought as I was extremely confused. "I-It didn't feel like it was that long. I-I thought it was just a few days." I said my voice sounding shaky. "But you don't have to worry so much as the time dilation of the Abyss only affected you. Only about a hundred years have passed on Earth, so you might have some nephews and nieces still alive." He said as tension that I didn't know was building up in me dissipated. "Now, if you're finally beyond having a breakdown, I'll continue with explaining the things that have occurred." He says and I nod a bit abashed as this was what I guess would qualify as my first public freakout.

"Now, back to the Abyss. The Abyss is a part of the astral void that is extremely deep in the void and is vastly unexplored despite there being Void gods. The astral void in and of itself however is extremely dangerous to mortal souls, as the time dilation and constant emanation and turbulent movement of void would shred any mortal souls that end up there into non-existence. The same would have happened to you if your case was normal." He said causing chills to run through my entire being. "So far, what I have concluded is that Truck-kun's divine aura lingered on your soul thereby protecting you from the damage which would have been caused by the astral void. A true god's soul is fundamentally different from a mortal soul as when we are brought into existence with blank divinity, meanwhile mortal souls could attain divinity but only after special occurrences such as having a tool or ability to harvest power from others, being demigods or being granted heirship by a god about to advance in stage or on the brink of their being getting extinguished, all of these which would almost always end up with the mortal inheriting the divinity of the God that was the source. Any more questions before I continue?" He explained and asked.

"Yes, actually. I was raised to be cynical, I mean that I didn't trust my teachers levels of cynical, yet I happened to follow you so easily. Why?" I asked with clear suspicion. "About that, remember I told you my divinities. They are fire, reward, reincarnation and life. The life divinity basically makes it so that as long as you're not an extreme nihilist, you instinctively have a considerable level of trust in me. Before you ask your next question, I have one for you. What were you doing during all that time you were in the Abyss?" He asked. "That explains that and I was just meditating, and I guess I somehow got better at most thing regarding souls, or I guess mortal souls since you've said that we're that different." I responded.

I guess that surprised him because I saw his eyes widen before he went into thought. "Hmm, I think I might understand the reason for that. As a god of reincarnation, I have experience in the analysis of souls and manipulation of soul energy, so as far as mortal souls go, I can tell when drastic changes affect them even when they don't know. Remember that I mentioned that Truck-kun's aura which is basically a film of his energy protected you in the Abyss, your meditation actually caused you to begin to absorb the energy and elevate the innate quality of your soul and made you achieve Soul Ascension." He explained but still left me stumped. "Soul Ascension?" I asked. "A mortal's soul normally doesn't have a great increment in quality without them actively using something that has the exact function of raising the quality of souls. However, divine energy regardless of the source, will cause vast improvement in the quality of mortal's. The different stages of mortal souls before they can even have a slight touch of divinity on them are Earthly, Elevated, Transcendent and finally Ascendant. You are an Ascendant mortal based on your soul alone, but you're still a mortal with mortal limits. As unless the laws of whatever world you are in dictate it, you will still need a body to bring forth your best in anything you do." He explained in surprising detail.

"So any more questions?" He asked with what seemed to be finality. I thought for a while leaving the room in silence but nothing came to mind. "No, no more questions."

"Okay then. Give me a few minutes. I have to make a report to the chief of our core branch regarding this. I'll be back soon." He said as he vanished. 'Hmm, so what am I meant to do now. Well, since this is the Hub of Reincarnation, maybe I can ask for an Isekai life with cheats. I mean, it's not like I have any actual reason to go back to Earth. Now I wonder what cheats I'll choose.'

Location : Hub of Reincarnation, Core Branch 9

Phoeric POV

'That kid really surprised me, even for an Ascendant. Afterall no mortal can calm themselves that easily especially when it comes to people they love or loved.' I thought remembering the soul I just left in my office. But I guess I'd better get to the chief ASAP since that kid is the one who those 4 mortals chose to relinquish most of their karma to as well.

I walk some more and greet the other gods I pass by on the way to the chief's office and eventually end up in front of his office. I knock on the door, take a deep breath and go in after he allows me in. I see him seated in his chair and I greet him and tell him everything about the kid's situation and remind him of the family of 4 mortals that left their. karma to the kid.

He huffed out a sigh as I finished and looked at me with his piercing green eyes. "Well, we can't reincarnate him into a normal Earth now. His soul is far too powerful and heavy for such worlds to hold him, however we could reincarnate him on an Elevated Earth, one where powers or magics are the norm. As for the karma and the time spent in the void, all that could only come to 3 unbounded omniversal wishes for his next life, should he choose to reincarnate." He tells me without skipping a beat. I nod in agreement and excuse myself as I teleport back to my office. I still don't understand why he doesn't allow teleportation into his office but he does out from it.

MC POV

As I think of the different crazy cheats I could wish for, I notice that Phoeric has returned and turn to face him.

"Well, I've spoken with the chief and he said that we can no longer reincarnate you on a normal Earth, however we can reincarnate you on what you and most other mortals call a fictional world, but it will have superpowers, abilities or magic as the norm, thereby being more reinforced so as to be able to accommodate the sheer weight and density of your soul. You also have 3 unbounded omniversal wishes to use for your next life should you choose to reincarnate." He says and watches as my face uncontrollably splits into a wide smile.

"I will 100% reincarnate into another world. Also, what do you mean by unbounded omniversal wishes?" I say and ask, my excitement apparent. "An unbounded wish is a wish that is without limits except for the 3 Os which I believe you know and they would only be limited to whatever universe you would reincarnate into." He says while looking at me. "Yeah, Omnipotence, Omnipresence and Omniscience, right." I say and he nods and continues. "An omniversal wish, however is a wish that works for you no matter which universe you are in. So unbounded omniversal wishes are wishes with no limits except the 3 Os." That is going to make be pretty broken when I get to my next life especially since I know what I want. "Well, let's get to shaping your next life." He says and I nod in excitement.

"Can I choose which world I can go to?" I ask and he affirms. "Okay. For my first wish, I want the Game System ability which is given to the Gamer with all of it's benefits and some additions and tweaks of mine, those being, auto-loot, an infinite inventory space, an achievement sub-system and daily tasks. For my second wish, I want the ability 'Raphael, Lord of wisdom' from the light novel Tensei Shittara Slime Datta Ken, otherwise known as Tensura. For my third and final wish, I want the following Meta Essences to be in my inventory and have no requirements for me to use them all simultaneously with no drawbacks. They are the Essence of the Brain, the Essence of the Ultimate Intellect, the Essence of Hypercompetence, the Essence of Skill Mastery and the Essence of the Nomad." (Shout-out to WillOblivionK or EvansKannon for putting me on this.)

I list all of these as my 3 wishes while watching his face go through multiple emotions, ranging from amusement to shock to pity. 'Haha, I knew it was going to be broken.' "You really thought about this in the time it took me to go, talk to the chief and get here, huh? Not bad, kid. Now you can pick your world for your next life and I will send you on your merry way." He says enthusiastically, almost as if he wants me gone.

"I didn't know you wanted me gone that badly." I say intent on hearing his response and what he says leaves me speechless for a minute. "Yeah, I want you gone. Until you've reincarnated, my branch won't have a proper record of your reincarnation, and my perfect streak can basically be seen as ruined, so get on now." remain silent for a bit and then burst out in laughter. "Hahahaha hahaha. Okay then, I'll be reincarnated into the world of.....
