It all started with an online game called Sword Art Online. This game is of the type Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing (VRMMORPG), where players seem to enter a new world; has a new body like in the real world and is able to move according to the user's mind.

On the first day of launch, 10,000 players were trapped in a virtual world. The creators of this game removed the log out button unilaterally. If the tool used to play the game is removed, the player will automatically die. Likewise, if in this online game the player dies, the body in the real world also dies. The only way to escape the game is to reach the 100th floor of Aincrad and defeat the final boss.

Kirito, who was the main character, a player capable of reaching high levels in the beta version of Sword Art Online, wasted no time. When everyone panicked and didn't know what to do, Kirito was determined to survive. And that meant he had to reach a high level to do so as well as defeat the final boss.

Kirito became the strongest player in this game. It's just that he always hides his level. He is a loner type and doesn't want to cooperate with other players to complete each floor.

This novel tells the twists and turns of Kirito's life and adventures in the world of Sword Art Online. In the end, Kirito fell in love with the female swordsman, Asuna. And they got married in the game.

They want to survive, finish the game, and return to the real world.

The moment Kirito had been waiting for arrived. After two years trapped in the game, Kirito finally realized the peculiarity of another player who had defeated him in a duel. When a group of players manage to defeat the boss on the 75th floor, Kirito attacks the player suddenly and it turns out that the player is an immortal object (cannot die).

The character belongs to the creator of the game Sword Art Online and who traps all players in the game with their lives at stake.

Finally there was an agreement, if Kirito was able to defeat the creator of the game, after changing the character from immortal object mode, then they could exit the game without having to reach the 100th floor.

Kirito competed and won the game. Eventually it all ended and the remaining surviving players managed to return to the real world.

A new problem arises when there are 300 players who are still stuck in the game. Kirito's lover, Asuna, was included. There are people who create new games from copying Sword Art Online. Inevitably, Kirito returned to the game world, this time to save Asuna who was trapped in that world.

In the end, after being able to become the only player who could complete the new game, Kirito met the culprit of the problem who became a god in the game. Luckily, with the help of the creators of the Sword Art Online game, Kirito was able to defeat the gods in that world and bring Asuna back to the real world.
