13 What is PvP?

My face is still red when I saw Freja's stats.

Artemis is right for sure. My body is reacting to the fact that I can date them.

And the good news is that I can see the percentage of my chances.

I can even make a difference to increase or decrease my chance.

Freja and Humphrey lead me to the location where the rematch is to take place.

According to Artemis, there are locations where PvP is not allowed.

Such as homes that turned PvP option off and establishments that protect players from sudden challenges.

There are also places where PvP is famous. Or "Hot Battles" as they call it.

Rules help keep the peace between players. But again, players have the option to keep a mediator to keep the fight balanced or just between them.

Perma-kills are not prohibited but only the thug-type enjoy it.

Humphrey is driving the limousine that I apparently own.

Sometimes I forget I am a billionaire because of being torn between two worlds.

"Are you nervous?" Freja asked me.

"Kind of." I say. "Can you tell me again the rules here?"

"In PvP? Are you serious?"

"Well I mean, of course it's like basic mechanics." maybe I should've just asked Artemis.

At least Artemis answers my questions without any judging gazes.

Right, because Artemis is a watch. She has no eyes to gaze at me.

Freja raises a brow on me. "There are 3 types of PvP." she begins. "To the death, Friendly Match and K.O. System."

"Oh. That's self-explanatory, right?"

Freja squints at me, like she doesn't trust that I have the correct knowledge of the matter. She's right to doubt me.

"To the death or TTD is famous only in some parts of the world. No one likes a perma-death obviously. But some really prideful people can be carried away by their power and accepts the challenge."

"Is that... is that the kind of PvP I participated in?"

I mean, if I died, then that's the only explanation.

"No. There was some disturbance. Long story. But you had a K.O. System match with Carlisle." she corrects.

"Ah."

"We could consider Friendly Match as sparring, testing the waters or as its name says, a friendly battle. Either player has the chance to surrender in the middle of the battle."

"Sounds like a kiddie match to me."

"Mostly applicable to Home Rules." she explains. "Of course, you don't want players turning your home into a war zone."

True enough. I try to just laugh it out and she chuckles at me.

"Lastly, the K.O. System. This is the one preferred by most players. Basically, there is a mediator that sets the K.O. System between participating players. So even if they reach 0 HP, they don't experience perma-death."

Ooooh. Now that is interesting.

An entirely new knowledge to my ears. This universe surely is unique.

"Then the rematch...?"

"Yes it's a K.O. System." she confirmed my innermost doubts.

She has no idea how relieved I am to hear that. In case I lose, there is no fear now.

"There are different PvP modes as well." she adds. "In case you are interested."

I observe her face. She sounded shy but at the same time kind of grumpy.

A tsundere?

*beep!*

A [New Discovery] unlocked with [Freja Caison]!

Huh? What is that?

New stats appear beside her.

But I bet only 'I' can see this. Not her. Because if she does, then all the more she'd smack me.

Especially that her [Lust] stat raised to half a 100% just earlier.

And she didn't even see me naked!

Her eyes were closed the entire time. It must have been her imagination running wild.

[Social] stat with Freja +1

[Happiness] stat +2

[Lust] level decreases to 40%

Oh, good, she got happier now.

And she's more open to talk to me socially. That is a pleasant discovery.

[[RELATIONSHIP]]

Stats with [Freja Caison]

[Social: 6]

[Loyalty: 3]

[Trust: 2]

[Innocence: 95]

[Experience: 0]

[Happiness: 7]

[Lust: 40%]

I am getting a hang of this now.

A real-time experience of 'everything I do makes a difference'.

I smile at her to acknowledge her offer.

In the end, I might need this extra knowledge. Even Artemis can explain it to me.

I'm going to give Freja a chance to finish her tutorial with me.

"Hey yeah, sure. I'm interested. I want to know everything I can before you throw me out there."

There was this brief pause between us as we locked eyes with each other.

It felt longer than it's supposed to. I didn't want it to be awkward.

So I smile again to break any threatening awkwardness in the air.

*beep!*

Now what?

< You have unlocked a new passive skill! >

< [Smoldering Smile] unlocked! You can see this skill in your [Stats Tree]. >

< [Smolderig Smile] Level 1 >

< [Smoldering Smile] is your ability to perform an irresistible smile to lure the receiving end to fall for your [Charisma] skill. >

This... this feels entirely unrealistic.

I unlocked a new skill... just because I smiled at her with the intention of raising my Dating Stats with her?

Astrals! This world is very dangerous and very amazing at the same time.

Then again, I already raised my [Charisma] prior. This could be just the fruit of it.

How exactly did I level up that skill? Do I just brag I am a charismatic person?

I glance at my Panel and notice my Panel Wallet.

Oh right. Our currency here is literally the very investment points used to up any skill we developed.

Now that makes sense.

Freja smiles back. "So there are different PvP modes..."

I listened to her intently with a smile. I'm hoping that this will level up my new skill.

This is so stupid, but I'm testing my theories.

"There's Practice Mode, Team Battle, Dual Match, Trios, Death Match, One-on-One..."

Freja began to cite the different modes. This one I am already familiar with.

Playing TK7 with Kate had helped me familiarize myself with these kind of modes.

I'm also an adept FPS player. Heh.

I am basically king at any of those modes. Except maybe that I have no gun skills in my arsenal.

That's weird... I realize just now that Ivan did not invest in any gun-related skills.

Just brass knuckles and swords.

Since when was I even interested in such weapons? Maybe because I liked samurais.

"So what's your favorite PvP Mode?" I ask her.

Just so she's not the only one talking in this conversation.

"Battle Royale." she answered really fast.

"Oh."

"89 wins. 7 losses." she brags.

"7 losses? That's still a big number."

"Only because I was new to BR. After I got the gist of it, I never lost."

*beep!*

Oh no, now what.
