For once, the one highlighted is the one I actually want to know.

The third option glowed yellow and pulsed. Accompanied by a 'click' sound.

"Can we go through the Tabs first?" I ask.

She smiled at me, as if she wouldn't have our first lesson any other way.

"Of course."

She shows me her Panel. Earlier it was a bit transparent whenever she pulls it out of thin air. But now it's solid white.

"Each Panel can be uniquely designed by its user." she explains.

A customizable Panel? That's interesting to tinker with once I get a hang of things.

"But yours is plain white?" I always thought she's creative and artistic.

"You can hide it from people and they'll see the default design instead."

"Why would you want to hide it?"

"It tells another user what kind of person you are, therefore can easily strategize against you."

Oh right. She's categorized as an [Assassin]. Which means as much as possible she is going to play the mysterious role.

>> "Do you have other questions?" <<

(A/N: When a dialogue appears like this, it means that Kate could also be talking to you as a reader. You can use paragraph comments to ask questions and this chapter will be updated/revised to answer your questions. If your questions is related to a future chapter I've prepared, I will reply to your PC that your question will be answered in future chapters.)

She looked me in the eyes. I never realized she can send me a piercing gaze.

I felt shivers down my spine.

"N- no question. Let's move on."

"Alright, let me show you my Tabs. Don't be overwhelmed."

'My Tabs?'

Do we have different ones?

______

[ PROFILE ]

[Freja Caison*]

[Level 62]

[Type: Assassin]

[Role: Ranger]

[Ascension Status: 1 Star] [[Ascend]]

[Badges Equipped: 2] [[View Badges]]

Huh? This is interesting. She has more items in her Panel than me.

I don't have some of those. But I am higher than her, right? Or is it because I don't know how to use this?

"You have a lot of stuff going on in your profile." I compliment.

"When your life reached 0, all of your equipped badges will be looted by the enemy." she explains.

Huh... is that why I don't have badges? Or stars for that matter? How can stars be looted?

"Even my stars disappeared?"

"Yes."

"You can loot even stars?!" I had to say it.

"No, it wasn't looted. It was taken by the System when you died."

Her last three words echoed in my ears. My mind replaying my final moments battling with the mugger.

My last moments where I ended up dead.

Even in this world where I am a rich and powerful person, I can still die. Probably the only perks I have is that I have a chance of a second life.

"What happens if I don't have anymore stars when I die again?"

My mind is troubled. A knot twisting in my stomach at the fear of dying again without assurance of coming back.

"You disappear completely. The system will eat your existence, your stats and items spread for loot, converted into artifacts or heirloom." she says.

That... wasn't assuring at all.

"The possibilities in this free world is basically endless. There is no such thing as 'one answer' for your question."

"I- I see." I try to breathe as calmly as possible.

Even if my entire body is trembling.

"Alright, let me sum up the rest of the Tabs for you." she says and scrolls down on her Panel.

"The [ ELEMENTALS ] Tab is where all elements you've learned are stored. Fire, Water, Earth, Air— those are the basics."

"Like Thunder, Lava, Metal— those types?"

"Yes."

Whoa. Why didn't I learn any of those super cool skills? Why did I stick with Fire and Water if I have options?

"Each of us may have similar [Roles] and [Types] but there are more sub-branches for [Types]." Kate continues.

"[Types] of what?" I ask.

"What type of player you are." she answered simply.

Ah well, that's understandable.

The normal choices goes with Swordsman, Mage, Archer in basic role-playing games like this.

"Each [Type] has an exclusive skill set only available for them. For example, mine is [ ASSASSIN SKILL SET ]. We don't have the same skills."

Right, because she is an assassin and I am an [Ardent]. Which begs the question...

"What is [Ardent]?"

Kate raised her brow at me. "You forgot even that?"

I smile at her apologetically.

"[Ardent] is a mix of mage and fighter. It means you can be both an aggressive spell user or weapon-dependent."

Well that sounds pretty cool. Something I approve that other me would choose.

"[ SKILLS ] Tab is divided by two categories; [Combat Skills] and [Weapon Skills]. I think that's self-explanatory."

That's basic enough.

"[ INVENTORY ] Tab is very easy to understand. I don't think I have to explain that to you."

She narrowed her eyes at me and I smile sheepishly.

"Yeah, I'm good with that." I answer her.

"The last part is probably the one you need to look into in your free time." she says and scrolled through the last Tab.

[ STATS ]

"This is literally everything there is to know about your life. If a person can see this, they will know everything about you."

How? If they see I have ATK of 1000 I'm strong? Is that it?

When she clicked on her [ STATS ] Tab I was surprised to see a big tree with thick roots. It has very red fruits hanging on its branches.

Beyond that there are other trees, each with different growth. Some had more branches than the other.

Some had thicker branches and fatter trunks. Some had less roots and some had more.

The leaves from each tree differs in color as well. The fruits have different shapes and colors. It's like a garden paint on her Panel.

"Wh- What is that?"

"Like I said this is a Cultivation World. Everything you do, the choices you make will either cultivate a part of your life or destroy it." she answered simply.

Then those trees... is her life?

"I'm the one who sets the colors per [Seed] to better organize my Stats."

"What does it mean?"

"You really are hopeless. You forgot literally everything." Kate said and sighed.

And I am really sorry about that. But it's more of, I got teleported into this world after my death.

"It's like this. Watch." she pushes me out of the bed.

I step aside as she fixes the sheets, neatly folds the blankets and fluffs my pillow. All of the sudden the bed is so neat-looking and shining with sparkles.

"Whoa!"

A pop-up appeared in front of her and we both saw it.

>> Cleaning +1 <<

|> Cleaning: Level 12 (+1)

|> [Cleaning: Level 12]

"It didn't level up?" I ask.

"Of course 1 EXP point won't do the cut. I have to keep doing it to level it up." Kate explains.

I see. So this is what she meant that LITERALLY EVERYTHING I do will make a difference and will count as a point.

Role-playing free world game at its finest.
