1 Two Princes?!

"I'm to what?" The tea I was drinking nearly spilled out of my lips.

My mother smiled at me, and I was reminded of how rare it was that she smiled. "You are to be the next Princess of Luneau!"

I blinked and let the words register. "The future Princess?"

"Yes"

"As in..." I swallowed, "I'm going to marry..."

"Yes, you are to marry the princes." My mother's smile grew wider.

My stomach flipped, "But isn't that supposed to be decided by a priest?" I shook my head frantically, "The King is supposed to work with the temple to decide who is the next destined princess."

"Yes." my mother nodded, "And they decided on you."

"What?!" I stood from the breakfast table, then quickly sat back down, the dishes on the table rattled with my movement. "Why would they choose me?"

"Audrey." my mother's smile faded, and she finally looked like the woman I knew as my mom. "I have been praying to the gods about this since the moment you were born. It is a great honor!"

I rubbed my eyes at my mother's words, "Mom, stop." I sighed, "I know you wanted this, but..."

"But what?"

How do I tell her that it's the only thing I didn't want?

Since the moment I was born into this world, I was able to remember the memories of my past life. In my past life I lived in Boston, I worked in a restaurant, and I didn't have much going for me. That all changed when I was reborn into this world of high society and wealth.

I loved my new life; I had a loving father, two caring older sisters, and a kind-of loving mother too. On top of that, I lived in a Duke's mansion on a huge estate. I had everything that I had wanted in my past life, and more.

There was only one thing that I didn't want from this life, and that was to be the sucker who had to marry the Crown Princes: the Destined Princess.

Now you may be asking, "What is the 'Destined Princess'?"

Well, I'll tell you.

The Destined Princess is a girl of similar age to the Crown Princes and is of noble birth, someone like me, who is chosen by the King and the Holy Temple. She is to marry both of the Crown Princes.

Yes, you read that correctly. BOTH OF THEM.

So, for further explanation, in this world, the Queen always gives birth to twin sons on her first birth. And it is tradition that both of these boys will marry the same woman; the Destined Princess.

Then, after one year of marriage, the Princess chooses one of them to be her only husband for the rest of her life, and also the future king of the country. It's a big responsibility, and usually the title of Destined Princess is given to a girl who is renowned for her wisdom and intelligence, someone not like me at all.

Now, you may be thinking, "This doesn't sound too bad. What's wrong with marrying two men? Especially if they're hot?"

I will tell you what's wrong with it!

All throughout the history of this world, the Destined Princess, after she gives birth to the twin princes, is treated like trash. I have read about the history of every Destined Princess I could find, and all of them, not even the current one, lived a happy life. The man they chose to be the king never loved them back, and after they gave birth to the twins, they were cast aside. Many of the kings even went on to take other lovers.

So basically, the life of the Destined Princess is destined to suck.
