Chapter 3

"Don't you think this is a long jump? What if you second guess yourself on the way down?"

"I've been thinking about doing this for a while so I doubt that thought would appear in my head."

Right now we both are standing on the edge of the roof looking down on the city. It's so mesmerizing. I don't think I would have second thoughts either. But my real question is what did her parents do to make her think about jumping?

"Cami."

"Yes?"

"I know this might seem personal and I know we've only known each other for about 30 mins, but what happened between you and your parents to make you want to do this?"

She sat down, legs hanging off the roof, and just had a blank stare on her face. I've come to not like that expression because I can't read her at all. She finally replies,

"They're just mean."

Huh? Did I hear that right? Mean? What is she talking about? I sit down to make sure I hear everything.

"They're mean?

"Yea"

She's joking right? Has to be.

"Can you tell me the real reason?"

"I just did."

Is this girl serious. She's about to jump because her parents are mean? What type of reason is that? My excuse was better. Maybe she doesn't feel comfortable with telling me about her family. That makes sense, since we only known each about for 30 mins. She did tell me her age though. She's 16.

"Ok" I said.

"Are you not curious about my real reason?" She turns to me.

I knew she was lying!

"No, I don't want to pry."

Liar, you do want to pry!

"Ok, maybe if you would've asked me one more time, I more than likely would've told you the real reason." She says with a smile on her face.

Idiot! Idiot! Idiot! Tell her you want to know!

"You can tell me whenever your ready."

I'm whipped.
