CHAPTER 16

"What are you all doing here?"

When Rhianne heard her brother's voice, she happily escaped from Calvin's hands and run towards her brother. She quickly hides behind his back with her arms hugging his waist. Francis looks at his younger sister first before turning his head to observe their unwanted visitors. Then he made a quick conclusion about the situation.

"Are you visiting us just to disturb Rhianne?" Francis asked with a raised brow.

"Yes."

"No."

The Lancester brothers both answered his question. Just like what he thought! At first, Francis was confused about why did Calvin with his brother visit their house. Calvin mentioned that he needed to look at their college pictures which were very suspicious from the start. If Calvin really wanted to see their college picture, he can just visit the official webpage of their school and look in the photo gallery on it.

But this doctor claimed that he cannot remember his school ID number and his password anymore. Calvin also made an excuse that he wanted to find a picture of his college crush from their gallery. Although Francis had a bad feeling about it from the very start, he still gave him a benefit of the doubt. So he let the Lancester brothers inside their house.

Keith really wanted to kick his brother on his face for making the situation worse. Calvin knows that Francis is always suspicious of him because he really believes Keith just wants to approach Rhianne so he can bully her. His bad impression of him all started when he gave the flowers to Rhianne when they were still young.

But that was really unintentional and it was a pure accident! But Calvin always makes it looks like he is really bullying Rhianne even though he did not do anything at all. He just wants to become friends with her! Why does he need to be the older brother? It is obvious that he is more mature than him!

Rhianne tugs at her brother's shirt to get his attention. She feels bad for the young male lead right now. It is obvious that Calvin is just messing up with him and Francis is being unfair to Keith even though he did not do anything wrong. Since she is the only one who is thinking like an adult right now, even though she is in a body of a fourteen-year-old girl, Rhianne needs to stop this nonsense as soon as possible.

"Let us invite them inside to have some snacks, brother. Mother made a cherry pie earlier. It is really delicious!"

Francis does not want to invite them, but seeing Rhianne looking at him with expectant eyes, he let out a sigh. He looks at the Lancester brothers with a sharp gaze before inviting them inside. Rhianne secretly looks at Keith who is obviously sulking right now. While the brothers are bickering with each other, Rhianne had slowly regained her normal self and starts thinking of their situation in a calm manner.

So what if that young boy is the male lead? Rhianne does not need to be afraid of him since he is not related to Rhianne Cartel's miserable fate in the story. The one she needs to be wary of is only Andrew Gartin. Thinking about it, being friends with the male lead is not a bad idea. Maybe she can borrow a little bit of his male lead halo which she can use to avoid her miserable fate in the future.

Rhianne asked them to wait for her as she fetched the pies in the kitchen. Her mother made this pie and Rhianne helped her with it. A smile appeared on her face when she smells the sweet scent of the freshly baked cherry pie of her mother.

After a few minutes, Rhianne comes back while holding a tray with a whole cherry pie on it. Keith naturally helped her bring the tray to the table while still avoiding to look at her in the eye. These small actions of Keith did not miss from their older brothers, but they did not give their comments on it for now.

After eating the pie, they are all surprised when Rhianne stands up and holds Keith's arm. Keith flinched a little but he did not dare to remove her hands. She told him to follow her and instructed their two older brothers not to follow them. Before they can even react, Rhianne and Keith are had already disappeared from their eyes.

"What do you think?" Calvin asked.

"Huh?"

"Should we follow them?"

"And why should we do that?"

"I am afraid Rhianne will bully brother."

"Stupid. I am more worried about your brother bullying my sister again." Francis retaliated.

"Sorry to disappoint you, but my brother is too pure for that."

Isn't that the reason why Calvin really enjoys teasing his younger brother? He is a bit naive and innocent most of the time. Every time he falls for his tricks and pranks, Tristan always shows him an interesting expression all the time.

"Tch. You just behave there and stop bothering them. You hear me?" Francis said.

"Well, okay. By the way, congratulations."

"Huh? Why are you congratulating me all of a sudden?"

"Because you earn two more siblings. I am happy for you."

"..."

"I actually earned two more siblings today too. So congratulations to me too."

Francis takes a few more seconds before he finally understands what Calvin is trying to tell him. This damn doctor! Who wants to become his family? As if Rhianne will like that wimpy kid!

"Don't you think it is now time for you to call me brother—Ouch! This is an assault on a doctor!"

Francis just throws a pillow on Calvin's face. He should have told the guard earlier not to let them enter their house. These two brothers are just troublesome for them. Seeing the scowl on his friend's face, Calvin happily laughed before hugging the pillow that Francis threw at him just now.

While their two older brothers are fighting downstairs, Rhianne brings the young male lead to the library so they can have some privacy. Rhianne is aware that she is the main reason why he is acting like this. But she also told herself that it is not completely her fault for why she acted like that.

Looking at the young male lead in front of her, she can't help but let out a sigh in her heart. The book described the male lead as independent, straightforward, mature, and resourceful. But the male lead in front of her right now is a shy, easy to bully, and fidgety young boy. A complete opposite to her expectation.

'But it is not really weird. Currently, he is still a kid, so that explains it.'

"Hey."

Keith is surprised when she suddenly speaks at him.

"...What is it?"

"I just want to apologize for earlier. I am just a little... surprised."

After that, no one speaks again. There is an awkward silence between them. Since she does not like it, Rhianne talks to him again.

"As you know, I can't remember a lot of things. I sincerely don't know if we know each other. So if I did something to offend you, I am sorry. I did not mean it."

"No. That was..." Keith wanted to refute her words, but Rhianne speaks at him again.

"So is it okay for us to be friends?"

"Ah?"

"You do not want to?" Rhianne did not wait for him to recover from his continuous shocking experiences today. "I thought you wanted to be my friend."

"O-Of course I want to—"

"Then it is settled then!" Rhianne smiles brightly as she holds Keith's hands. "My name is Rhianne Cartel. I hope we can be good friends in the future."

"..."

'Why does it feel like I am being tricked by a swindler here?'

Obviously, Keith really wanted to become friends with her. But the way she talks with him feels like she is actually forcing him to be her friend. She does not even give him a time to think about what is really happening and she already decided on the outcome. Keith does not mind it, but the situation feels really weird.

Rhianne did not pay attention to what he is thinking. Right now, she is secretly celebrating after establishing a friendship between her and the male lead. If they become close with each other, then Rhianne is sure that she can always ask for his help if the situation in the future gets bad. Since he is the male lead, his destiny and fate will surely be good in the future.

With this, the male lead and the supporting character finally becomes friends.
