CHAPTER 14

Rhianne did not dwell much on the reality that she had met with the female lead. She remembered that Candice Dy was an orphan and adopted by a kind couple who loves her like their own child. After some years, she will meet the male lead and that will be the start of their romance. But Rhianne did not expect that Candice was an orphan from the Welfare Agency that her mother is managing.

After that day, Rhianne focused on learning again. Before the school year officially starts, she started reading the books available in their library. Her family was surprised when they see her often staying in the library, but they did not say anything about it. Before her accident, Rhianne Cartel disliked reading books a lot. But looking at their precious daughter who becomes interested in reading books, her family silently supported her.

Everyone in the Cartel family adores her so much. Rhianne is convinced that she is the apple of the eye in this family. They are ready to give her anything as long as she wants it. They are also treating her like a real princess and spoiled her with things that most people cannot have.

And Rhianne thinks that is the reason why Rhianne Cartel in the past becomes a spoiled child. They do not ask her to study or help them with anything. They also cannot scold her that much. Even if they start disciplining her, the Cartel family will still yield to her wishes at the very end.

There is nothing wrong if a child is well-loved in the family. But in Rhianne's perspective, spoiling your child too much to the point you cannot scold them anymore is a bad thing. The right discipline is a good thing to teach and tell your children about their wrongdoings. It is for their own good anyway.

It will be helpful for them once they become an adult in the future. They should slowly start teaching their children how to stand on their own feet and slowly face the harsh reality of this world. Spoiling too much a child will only make them dependent on their parents. They will probably have a mentally that everything is attainable in their hands which can cause a problem in the future.

Although Rhianne enjoys their pampering and spoiling attitude towards her, she still does not want to indulge in it so much. She still wants to achieve something in this world using her own effort and strength. She does not want to rely on her family's wealth too much. Rhianne believes that achieving her dreams using her own hands will be sweeter than honey.

One day, a maid informed them that two visitors had suddenly come into their mansion. Rhianne was scared that Andrew is the one visiting their house. But when the maid explained that their sudden visitors are Dr. Calvin and his brother, she let out a relieved sigh. When Rhianne goes down to the receiving room, Dr. Calvin is nowhere to be found, but his brother is sitting comfortably on the sofa alone and looks in her direction.

"...Hello."

Rhianne will be rude if she ignored him and decided to greet him. The boy looked at her and crossed his arm on his chest. Rhianne noticed that his eyes were now both hazel brown. She is pretty sure that the boy has an emerald color on his left eye.

"Are you wearing a contact lens?" Rhianne asked.

It was too late for her to realize what she had just asked him. Rhianne is sure that the boy is very conscious of his eyes. Didn't that boy run away from her when he noticed that she was looking at his eyes before? She was about to say sorry when the boy slowly nods his head.

"It will be a hassle if other people keep on looking and noticing my eyes."

Rhianne blinked her eyes in surprise but still nodded her head in understanding.

"I heard you have amnesia."

"Ah?"

Rhianne wondered why this boy was trying to make a conversation with her. She thought that the boy hated her, but it does not look like that. Or maybe he is just curious about her? Rhianne nodded her head again and confirm what he had just said.

"No wonder you act so weird when we met again at my house." The boy murmured to himself.

Rhianne did not say anything to refute his words. How can she act normal in front of him if she does not know what is happening in her surroundings? She does not have any recollection of Rhianne Cartel's previous memories. And besides, she is too busy to adapt herself to this world.

"Follow me." The boy said and started walking without waiting for her answer.

'This is my house, you know? Why are you acting as if you are the owner of this place?'

Even though she was complaining, Rhianne still followed the boy until they reach the garden. They did not go near the flowers but Rhianne is confused why the boy has brought her here. The boy pointed his finger at the roses and looked at her.

"Is it beautiful?" The boy asked.

"Of course." Rhianne quickly replied.

She always thinks that the flowers in their garden are so beautiful. But Rhianne has no time to admire it up-close because she is busy staying with her new family. And besides, she cannot just easily approach the garden because there are metal gates surrounding it. She just thought a garden is a precious place for her mother since gardening is one of her habits.

"Then you also know that you should keep yourself away from these plants?" He asked again. "Right?"

"...No?"

"Do you still want to live in peace?" The boy questioned her with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

Of course, she still wants to live. But Rhianne did not know what the boy was trying to say to her. The flowers in their garden are beautiful and their gardener takes care of them every day. But because Rhianne was too busy with her new life, she did not have any chance to admire the flowers up-close. She will only look at them through the balcony in her room.

"You are allergic to pollen." The boy said. "Your skin will become red and itchy after having contact with flowers that has a high amount of pollen."

Rhianne frowned at this new information. She does not really know that Rhianne Cartel is allergic to pollen. Her family also did not tell her anything about it. Maybe it just slipped on their mind because her recovery from the pool accident and her amnesia were much more important than her allergies. But something was amiss with this situation.

"How did you know that I am allergic to pollen?"

The boy pursed his lips and did not say anything. How can he forget about this information? When he first learned about her condition, it was already late. He remembered when it caused a huge commotion in their house.

During that time, Rhianne and her family visited their house after receiving the invitation from their family for dinner in their house. The reason for it was they wanted to celebrate Calvin's achievement. He finally got his license to become an official doctor.

Rhianne was only eight years old at that time. He remembered that he thought that she was a living doll and tried to be friends with her. He was actually scared that Rhianne might reject him because of his eyes. But he became happy when Rhianne accepted him as a friend and did not mind his eyes. As a celebration of their friendship, he thought of giving her a gift.

After racking his brain to think about what kind of gift he should give to her, he suddenly thought of their garden. He remembered that a lot of flowers were planted in their garden and all of them are beautiful. He thought that flowers were suited to Rhianne because she is also pretty. So he quickly visited their garden and asked a maid to help him pick a lot of flowers.

When she received the bouquet from him, Rhianne smiled at him and said thank you in a very cute way. Rhianne hugged the bouquet and rubbed her face on the petals. But after a few minutes, Rhianne became fidgety on her seat and started scratching her arms and neck.

Her skin started to have small red spots on her white skin and she kept on sneezing. Her eyes became watery so Rhianne informed her mother that she felt itchy on her skin. She looked like someone tried to bully her with her pitiful appearance at that time. It was a good thing that Calvin was present at that time to check on Rhianne. That was when they learned that Rhianne has a pollen allergy.

After that incident, Rhianne rarely visited their house. He thought that maybe Rhianne does not want to become friends with him anymore. No one blamed him for it. But of course, he felt guilty because he was still the cause of it.

He was actually surprised when he first saw Rhianne visiting their house again after some years. But when he saw her looking at him as if she did not know him, he felt annoyed and mad. So to avoid her, he stayed in the garden thinking that it was the place that she would never dare to visit. But he was shocked when he saw Rhianne trying to touch the flowers in their garden.

Is she not afraid to have those red itchy spots on her skin again?
