1 Crash!

Darren had finally completed his last degree and was now on his way back home to the States.

Kiara looked ecstatic about it and could hardly contain her excitement as she prepared to welcome him from the airport.

She stood in front of the mirror, her face beaming with joy as she meticulously arranged her hair and applied make-up on her face.

She wanted everything to be perfect for their long-awaited reunion.

The anticipation of seeing Darren again after so long was almost too much for her excited heart to bear, but she knew that it would all be worth it when he walks through the airport doors and into her waiting arms.

Grabbing her car keys from her study table, Kiara briskly made her way downstairs.

She walked past her slightly spacious living room, quickly exiting her home and getting her car ready.

In no time, she was wounding down the street, driving at a rational speed.

Kiara sat eagerly in her car, leaning forward with her eyes concentrated on the road ahead.

BZZZZ!!

Kayla's call came in afterwards driven away, asking with a playful tone,

'Hey, what's up, silly?'"

"Kiara shouted over the loud music in the car,

"I'm gooood!"

"What's keeping you all elated?"

"Woo-hoo! I'm finally heading out to meet Darren, Kayla!"

"Whoopee! Kayla exclaimed, "It's been a long time coming, but he's finally here!"

"Yes, I'm on my way to the airport right now," Kiara replied, accelerating the car speed as she spoke all in the hopes of making it to the airport on time to welcome him first.

However, an uneventful accident decided to take place.

"What gift are you getting for him to welcome him at the airport?" Kayla asked, "I wish I could be there with you, but I'm currently abroad."

"Oh no!" Kiara exclaimed.

"What's wrong?" Kayla asked, concerned.

"I completely forgot to get him a gift, not even a small bouquet of flowers..." Kiara trailed off, before suddenly screaming "AH!"

A violent impact that Kiara never sensed coming, shook her entire body, and the only noise her ears could perceive at that moment was the devasting 'CRASH!' that had occurred, except, the crash had happened to her.

Another vehicle had collided with hers before she could make a move, hurtling towards her car with relentless force.

As the car crashed, Kiara's phone slipped from her grasp, falling to the floor with a loud thud.

The connection began to falter, and Kayla's voice grew distant and distorted.

"Hello? Hello?" Kayla called out.

Kayla was freaking out after the call cut off.

She tried calling Kiara back, but it went straight to voicemail.

She tried reaching Darren, but his phone was dead too. In a panic, she tried Kyle's number, but all his lines were down.

She was getting really worried and felt helpless, wondering what was going on.

The impact of the collision was so strong that Kiara hit her forehead on the steering wheel, a sharp pain coursing through her head and spreading down to her neck, and as if time stopped, she felt something wet trickle from her forehead down to her chin.

The world around her spun spontaneously as she tried to regain her bearing, and with the little strength she could muster, she pushed her body back up when she no longer felt the tumbling of her car.

Her mind raced as she tried to make sense of what just happened, and the intense ringing in her ear refused to cease.

Through the blur of her vision, she could see a man coming towards her direction in a hurry.

She tried to fight through her subconsciousness, but the pain was overwhelming.

Eventually, her heavy eyes closed, and she was unconscious by the time the man could make it to her car.
