1 Chapter 1 SELFISH

" Mom, I can't continue working in that hotel. It is not safe for me at all. There are so many perverted men in that hotel ." Melody said as she took a deep breath.

" Melody, you want to quit your job? How will we take care of our expenses? you are the only one who works here. What will happen to my children's school fees? " Pink shamelessly asked. Pink was Melody's stepmother; she never cared for her ever since her mother died. She made her start working at the age of 16, she even made Melody drop her studies when she was in grade 7. Melody was the one who took care of the housework, cooking, and everything that had to be done in the house in the morning. And when she comes back from work, she makes dinner for everyone while her mother and her siblings do nothing. Ever since her mother died, her father has forgotten her. He did not even bother to stop his wife when she beat melody up or when she made her overwork.

Melody had gotten used to her living hell life.

" Mom, don't you know how selfish Sister is? just because she didn't attend school. she wants us to be just like her " Minami said.

" Yes Mom, Sister is selfish. She thinks she is doing us a favour, "Mike said.

" Melody is what they are saying true? Do you want to quit your job because you don't want my children to go to school? " Pink asked as she took the spoons from one of the bowels that were on the table

" Mom I didn't mean it like that, but that hotel is not safe for me " Melody tried to explain with fear she knew that Pink wanted to beat her up with a spoon.

" So you're saying that my children are lying, huh? Pink asked as she walked like a predator who wants to catch her prey.

"I'm sorry mom I will keep on working in that hotel," Melody said with fear in her voice, her tears threatening to fall.

pink did not listen to Melody any longer, she pulled her out of the chair, and pushed her down on the floor, she squats down and pulled her hair

" don't ever talk about quitting your job. Do you understand? you will do what you always do in this house. And I want to make sure that you will never talk about it " pink said as she start to beat her with a spoon she was holding

" Mom, I will never talk about it. I promise you, I will not even dream about it " Melody cried

" Good girl. Now stand up and make lunch for Mike and Minami. When you are done cleaning this mess get ready to go to work, understand? Pink said and without waiting for another second, Melody ran out of the dinner table.

Within 30 minutes, the melody was done with everything, making lunch, and washing the dishes. She was ready to leave the house. It was still early for Minami and Mike to go to their school.

in the sitting room**

" Mom, dad I will go now I'm done with my work," melody said like she was the servant of the house with her head bowed.

" You can leave, " her stepmother said.

she was about to walk out of the house but she was stopped by Minami

" And where do you think you are going without giving us our pockets money?" Minami shameless asked, she was 1 year young too, melody but yet she was asking for her money

" Today I don't have money, I only have money for my transport," melody said

" You have feet right? you can walk to your workplace, and give my baby money right now. " Maxwell, who was her so-called father said

Melody did not want to argue. She took money from her Wallet and gave it all to Minami and walked out of the house, with tears in her eyes.

** It was already afternoon when Melody reached the hotel.

" Good afternoon sir, I'm sorry I'm late, I will work overtime today," Melody said, her eyes swollen because of crying so much.

" Melody, did your family treat you badly again.? Were you crying? Mr. Philips asked, he was a manager of the hotel, and he knew Melody since she was 16 years. When she started working at this hotel. he also knew how her family treats her.

"don't worry about me sir I will be fine, I will start working now, " Melody said as she went to the changing room.

Melody worked at the hotel as a janitor.

when Melody was done changing her clothes into her uniform. She gathered all her cleaning tools and put them in the troll. Because she was late, her co-workers gave her room number 14. They knew that the man who was in that room was hard to please, and that's why they had given her that room.

It was almost evening when the melody finished cleaning the room. only room number 14 was left. she pushed her trolls and headed to room number 14

[knock, knock, knock ]she knocked on the door as soon as she reached the room

" Come in, " replies the cold voice from inside. Melody knew that this man was scary, but his voice was scarier. her co-workers always talked about how handsome he was but she did not care about all that, all she wanted was money.

Melody opened the door and entered the room

"Good evening sir. I'm a cleaner, I've come here to clean if you don't mind. '' Melody politely said, she did not want to offend this God-looking man, he was too much to handle because he was too handsome to be true. On the other side, Brian was dumbfounded when he saw Melody. She was breathtaking in his eyes, her round face. she had fully pink lips, but what made her beautiful were her big round eyes and her long purple long hair, she was just perfect in his eyes.

" Sir, do you mind if I clean your room? Or should I come later? Melody asked when she saw how lost he was.

" Uhm " Brian cleared his throat

" you can clean the room now," Brian said he was confused

' Is she my mate? why do I feel drawn to her

? let me confirm this when she is done with her work ' Brian thought.

Melody started her work after Brian confirmed that she can start working. she did not even realise Brian was watching her the whole time.

Brian was a multi_ billionaire and he was a vampire, no one knew this except for his family and people from his clan. He was so scared and cold that everyone was scared of him, he did not care about how others would feel about his actions. He only cares about himself.
