The alpha's power

Nathaniel woke up in the middle of the night.

The hairs of his skin stood straight. His demon senses warned him that something wasn't right. He reached out and took out his sword from his luggage.

The moment he touched the sword, it glowed with a blue flame. Ready and armed, he dashed out of his room to track down the source of evil he felt in the air.

He was a protector.

His first instincts were to ensure that Lana was safe. His sister was his priority.

Walking down the silent hallways, fear ran its hands down his spine. Whatever was inside the mansion was dangerous and powerful.

The essence he got in the air, was stronger than anything that he had ever felt. It was almost drowning to get closer to the creature. However, Nathaniel pressed on.

He marched to the first floor and searched all the rooms that were open for an intruder. His efforts proved futile.

Hence he was forced to descend the stairs to try his luck on the ground floor. As he took steps closer to the ground, "Purrr.." the creatures groaned.

Nathaniel tightened his hold on the sword. Ready to defend himself in case the creature attacked him.

Upon entering the main room, Nathaniel hid behind one of the pillars and stole a peek at the room. He caught sight of the alpha of the alphas in the room.

Noam Cross sat on his throne with three women and one man dancing intimately around him. The color of his eyes marched the flame of Nathaniel's blade. He sat with his head resting on his palm. Lazily watching the dancers move about the room.

Nathaniel followed the line of his sight to the only man dancing. His feet were light on the ground, moving up and down as though he had no bones on his body.

The scene confused Nathaniel. He was alarmed by the danger around, the dangerous aura was thick in the air. And for some reason, he felt the danger of being Noam.

Nathaniel let go of his blade to dim its flame and avoid alerting Noam of his presence. Though unknown to him was the fact that Noam already knew of his presence in the room. Due to their bond, he felt him the moment Nathaniel got up from his bed.

Yet he remained unmoving.

The music playing in the room ended. The dancers each bowed their heads except for the man. Nathaniel watched with interest trying to find out about the demon king's weird fetish.

"That was amazing," The alpha admitted.

"Is that all I get? Exemplary was the word I was looking for," the young male spoke out offended by Noam's comment on his dance. "The harvest has destroyed your head, you have lost your sight and your mind to call my dancing only amazing."

The three women gasped.

The man was unfazed by their shocked reactions. He was not at all bothered by how he spoke to Noam.

"You can leave," Noam ordered.

The three women quickly scurried out of the room. However, the man with them didn't move an inch. His eyes glared daggers at Noam.

Nathaniel too was curious as to where his bravery came from. He had seen Noam almost rip someone's heart out of their chest, he didn't find it brave to challenge the man.

Once the room was cleared. The young man spoke again, "I hear you fancy a demon now."

Noam neither agreed nor disagreed with the man's words. He calmly watched the young man, his aura getting dangerously cold and frosty.

"What makes him so special that he caught your eyes?" the young man dared to ask.

"He isn't special. He is available," Noam commented. His voice resonated in the room. Nathaniel heard every word his lips dropping into a frown. "He won't be here long, I need him for something. Once I get what I want I will send him packing," he added.

"What does he have that you want? I could get it for you," the man offered.

"His heart Omar, I want it to stop beating. The rhythm gives me a headache," Noam admitted. Nathaniel couldn't help the blood boiling in his veins at Noam's words. "But I don't want him dead. Am I making any sense?"

"All the sense you can ever wish to make," Omar responded. He slowly tiptoed forward. He bridged the distance between him and Noam.

He let out his index finger, his nail formed a sharp claw. Omar cut open his wrist and placed his bleeding wrist next to Noam's lips.

Nathaniel watched keenly his moves. Confused. It puzzled him why the male was trying to feed werewolf blood. Nothing in his research on werewolves did it say that werewolves liked to drink blood.

However, Noam wasn't a normal wolf or alpha. There was no right way for him to do things, he was a fault of nature that shouldn't exist.

Noam opened his mouth. He grabbed Omar's hand and pressed it to his lips and sucked the blood from his hand.

"Ahhh," Omar moaned.

"Owooo!"

Nathaniel was shaken by the sounds of wolves howling in every direction.

"Owooo! Owooo!"

The howls were getting louder. They ran through the hallways, echoing in the air. As though they had all received a wake-up call of some sort.

His eyes narrowed at Noam whose eye color was slowly morphing into the color of the blood he was drinking.

"Don't slow down, drink my king," Omar encouraged. Noam kept sucking greedily at the blood. The more he sucked, the louder the howls became.

Nathaniel covered his ears with both his hands. Unable to bear the howling of the wolves. It was his worst nightmare brought to life. Hearing the screams of the awful creatures that took his family from him.

The louder the howling became, the more the events of that faithful night forcefully played out in his mind. Vividly reminding him of the reasons why he hated werewolves.

His blood ached to spill the blood of every single wolf in the mansion. Starting with their strange alpha.

"Call to all the wolves. Show them your true power," Omar said with a devilish smirk playing on his lips.
