The Truth Comes Out

It was just a normal day at school before my 'accident' if you want to call it that.

I'm at school doing my routine of classes trying to turn all the homework I got done.

Since I don't really have a class, I start my way to the stairs to go to the library. But before I could make my way to the stairs, Pine steps in front of me.

"What do you want to Pine?" I say through gritted teeth. She smiles at me which means she's up to something. "It just seems like we got off on a bad start and wanted to start over. So, can we be friends?" She says still with a smile.

"Um no thanks, I'm good," I say trying to get around her. She lets me by but continues to stare at me. Weird much.

But what I didn't realize that she was only there to distract me from what was going to happen next.

Before I could get a handle on what's happening my head hits the railing of the stairs. It goes black from there.

I wake up in a white room feeling pain almost everywhere. I look around to see anything, but no one is around.

So, I just lay there in pain for the second time in the last four months. This is all Pines fault I think to myself.

I continue with my thoughts until I think the nurse is coming into the room. But instead, I see Richie walking into the room with what seems to be jello.

"You're awake now. The doctor will be in soon to talk to you." He says sitting down next to my bed. "Where's my dad?" I ask him.

"He is in a meeting. I called him as soon as I got you to the hospital. He will be here soon." He says between bits of his jello. "Okay. How did you find me?" I ask him as I try to sit up.

"I found you in the school stairwell knocked out. Your head was pretty banged up, so I rushed you to the hospital." He says looking at me worried.

"Someone.." before I could continue talking the doctor walked in. "Ms. Rizzo you're lucky you don't have a concussion but only a big gash on the side. You'll have stitches for a while. And for your right foot, you'll be wearing a boot for about six weeks because you have a bone bruise. Also, you have to be careful since you have a broken rib on the left. Just take care of yourself." The doctor explains before walking out.

"How am I so badly injured?" I ask him as I think about to Pine again. The frown on my face turns into frustration. "Well whoever did it, is going to be in some deep shit." He hits like he is going to find out before helping me sit up in the hospital bed. Did I ever mention I hate hospitals? They smell of death.

"Wow, it sounds like you really care," I say trying to sound sarcastic. "I do care about you. I never stopped caring about you. When you mom left with you, I was set on finding you when I was of age." He says as he takes my hand into his.

"Then why didn't you? I waited for you. But the day I saw you with Pine, I felt my heart crush into a million pieces. Who would have thought, I would fall in love with a guy who dates random snotty girls." I say looking away from him as I remember when I saw them together, feeling my heart ache more than ever.

"You love me?" He whispers to himself being the surprise of my confession to him. "Is that all you really got from my little rant?" I half yell at him even more upset.

"I never dated Pine, she is the one who started the rumor that we were dating. I don't even like her." He says with a grossed-out face.

I start to say something, but Richie cuts me off saying "I only ever fell in love with one person and she disappeared on me, then years later she shows back up even more beautiful then I remembered. And she sits right in front of me." He says looking at me with so much love that I start to tear up.

"What's wrong?" He asks me. "It's just nobody has ever said to me what you just said. I feel so much better to know you like me better." I say blushing.

"Then will you marry me but not for the family business? Because I just want you to be by my side to love me no matter what is thrown at us." He asks me as he gets on his knee.

'Holy shit' I think to myself. "Yes, but you have to make time for me when you take the 'business'," I answer him.

"Deal," He says as he sits onto the bed to kiss me as he puts the ring on my finger.

"What have I walked in on?" My father says as he walks into the room with Mr. Jason. I blush even more being caught by our dads. "Just confessing our love for each other," Richie says to my father.

This is so awkward I think to myself as I look at my father.

"What is that on your finger?" My father says as he walks closer to my bed. "It's an engagement ring." Mr. Jason says coming into the room me.

"Well, it looks like we are going to be family. Congrats. It's better than Mr. Lions son." My father says to everyone.

"Let's celebrate," Richie says as he scoots me over where I'm on one side of the bed and he is on the other side of the bed. You can say the rest of the day was eventful.
