Chapter 18): Don't Call It A Flashback!

"Meredith get back here!" Ryan shouted as he watched her take off into the woods, he sighed and began running after her. His parents didn't bother as they kept instructing the movers on where to place things.

He ran after her as she excitedly ran through the woods, she jumped over trees and jumped across creeks, Ryan was beginning to think that she loved this place more then the city. Well actually that wasn't so hard to notice that, she was a husky after all and they were a playful breed, it made sense that she would rather like this big forest to the city.

Ryan could do nothing but try and catch her, he was just lucky his Fitness was at level 3, it was easier for him to just run along with her, he still was not fast enough to catch her.

Eventually she made it to an edge where the woods was split by a flowing river/creek, Ryan watched helpless as she jumped it and kept sprinting along as if they were in a game of tag and he needed to catch her. Sighing he jumped on some rocks and made it across while following her, he was pretty sure with that he was on the Rez side of the treaty line, but he was a normal human so it didn't matter.

For a moment he lost sight of her before he heard rustling from nearby, there was a bark before she took off out a brush of overgrown grass basically laughing at him as she ran right past him. He attempted to jump and catch her but she dodged beautifully and with a bark she took off again, Ryan growled and took off after her ignoring then mud on him.

"Ah!" A girls voice rang out followed by what he thought was the sound of her hitting the ground, Meredith's bark followed but it was not threatening.

Ryan followed the bark and what he saw caused him to laugh, a girl who probably went to his chin was laughing as she struggled to get Meredith off her, Meredith herself was licking her face in excitement. Moving forward he grabbed her leash which was attached the whole time but always out of reach, "Calm down girl, let her get up." He said patting her side making her sit.

"Is she yours? Because she got my clothes dirty, are you going to pay for this!" The girl said standing and poking his chest with a glare on his face, probably mad because he was smiling at the situation.

Ryan had to admit maybe on someone else the look she sent him would be intimidating, but on her he just found it adorable, "Oh, come on pretty girl. She was just saying 'Hi' to you, I mean licking does imply kisses. Would you rather she bite you?"

"Be that as it may, we are talking about my clothes not about the fact that your dog obviously likes me more then you." She complained.

He paused though and sent her a glare that had just a small amount of heat behind it, "What do you mean like you more? Meredith loves me, she doesn't like anyone more then me."

"Well let's see here 'pretty boy', she was running from you and kissing me. Obviously she likes me more then you and wanted a new owner."

Ryan glared, "Now you listen here shortstack."

"Shortstack!" The girl screeched her face flushed as she glared at him.

"Ummm, do you two want me to like wait behind a tree or something?" A voice said from right next to them, hey had been so lost in the argument that they did not even notice the teen boy standing there.

"SETH! Stop being an idiot! Let's go." The girl said, who Ryan assumed was Leah Clearwater as the only Seth he remembered from the movies and books was Seth Clearwater, and they had some semblance of resembling one another.

"See you later pretty girl!" He called out making Leah turn and glare before walking off, he looked down to Meredith as he siblings left, "You don't like her more then me right."

All he got in return was a head tilt from Meredith with her tongue sticking out.

He shrugged and took her on a random path while pulling out a joint, he might as well enjoy nature and get a little high while he was out, his parents wouldn't be waiting on him anyway. Ryan didn't know where he was going but he followed a path, Meredith didn't seem to mind as she sniffed and followed him wherever he was going calming down from earlier.

He began to laugh as he saw that the joint was almost completely gone, deciding he was done he put the joint out and walked to the top of what he assumed was a cliff, it looked like a cliff. When he reached the top he saw the sibling duo standing there, "Oh great, are you following us?" Leah asked glaring at him.

Ryan high chuckled a lot more then he should have, "Oh don't flatter yourself shortstack, you are following me and Meredith after all."

She glared at him again, most likely because of the nickname but then her brows furrowed as she sniffed the air, "Have you been smoking weed?" Her eyes were lit up as she asked.

He nodded not bothering to hide it, he never hid what he did to people, "Yeah, figured I could take a high nature walk, and it seems to be working."

The next thing he knew she was searching his pockets, like full on searching them, he raised a brow but didn't stop her as she wouldn't find them on his person, he didn't just keep them where anyone could find them after all. "I usually make people buy me dinner first before letting them touch me as much as you are." He joked causing Seth to laugh.

Stopping her movements she glared at him with her hand outstretched, "Share."

He laughed but still acted as if he was taking one out of his pocket, but really grabbed one from his inventory, she was just to adorable to say no to so he didn't mind taking one out for her. She grabbed it smiling and held out the other hand for the lighter, he chuckled and it lit it for her, they stared at one another as Meredith and Seth played near them.

"Hey what's with the look on your face?" Leah asked pulling him from his thoughts as she now stood in front of him a small smile on her face.

He shook his head, "Nothing, Seth's words just reminded me of the day we met. You really became a tick after smoking weed with me for the first time, I could never get rid of you."

She hit his arm glaring, "Please, if anything I couldn't get rid of you. I remember it was you who came to my house the next day, not the other way around."

"What! Seth invited me, I didn't go over because of you."

"Please, I didn't see Seth around much as you hung out in MY room."

Glaring playfully at her he scooped her into his arms making her squeal, he began running around the beach with her over his shoulder laughing, some people watched them laughing along too. Sam was also watching them, he would be lying if he said he wasn't a little upset, but at the same time there was nothing he could do, all he could do was be happy she was happy.

Seth smiled brightly as he stood with his friends seeing what was happening with his sister and Ryan.

Ryan eventually set Leah down near some rocks and held her waist, he leaned down kissing her before she could say anything, every since the first kiss he had been addicted and didn't want to hold back anymore. Leah did not hesitate to kiss him back either, their lips battled it out as Ryan leaned against the rocks ignoring them digging into his back, he didn't care for the pain that came.

Eventually they separated for air and Leah laid her head on his chest listening to his heartbeat, the sound of the noise from the bonfire and the ocean drifted away all that was the left was the sound of their steady breathing, "So when are you going to talk to my dad?" She asked.

"Someone's eager, maybe you aren't that good of a kisser and I changed my mind." He joked brushing some hair out her face.

She scoffed, "Please, you were the one who was aggressively losing my lips, and bit them no less. Obviously you are addicted, now answer the question."

"Well I figured---" Ryan stopped his nose twitched and a sickly sweet smell went into his nose, it almost burned his nostrils as he smelled it.

Leah looked at him as he stopped and saw the look on his face, "Ryan? Is everything okay?"

"Everything is fine shortstack, I just remembered something, I will be back in a minute okay?" He said smiling down at her.

She gave him a look which he found hard to read but she nodded, "You better answer when you get back, if you are just trying to let me down then tell me now. Don't make excuses like Sam."

Ryan paused as he was turning to go check out what he knew was a vampire, "Don't compare the two of us. I will be back, and if you need the answer now then I will ask after my game tomorrow if your father is there."

Leah's eyes widen and a bright smile lit her face unlike how it was moments ago, "Then I will make sure he is there."

Nodding Ryan jogged off while noticing that Sam and Paul did the same.
