Twilight in Obsidian

“Please take me with you,” the woman whispered. Her voice was dry and hoarse, her body trembled like a leaf on an unsettled wave. Was it because of the crime she had just committed, or was it because of the aura the man before her gave off? She must be sick, both in and out of the head. Everything in her said not to ask for help, or at least not to ask him for help, nevertheless, here she was bowing her head down before him. “Now, why would I do that?” His dark, airy voice filled her ears. His voice sent shivers down her spine, making her freeze in her spot. Her head sank to the floor, unmoving. “I do anything from cleaning to washing, and cooking,” she said, muttering her words, timidly. The man hunched down to her size and uttered, his breath tickling her neck. “Have you met me before?” “No, but I can—” She began to say, as if he were contemplating her request but was quickly interrupted. “Don't be so quick to sell yourself to death.” Passing through her, he left her to crumble on the ground. °∆° "Did you think I would let you go after I found you? Do you know how long I have waited for this moment?” His voice deepened with each word that fell off his lips. The woman stepped back, not wanting to get close to this terrifying man. “I am being truthful, Your Highness. I don't know you, Your Majesty, our families haven't met for any reason. So please let me go,” she whispered. Her body touched the wall. Now she was stuck between the wall and the terrifying man. “Please, My Lord, I don't know what you are talking about,” She whimpered. He placed his strong hands on her hip, giving it a light squeeze as he pulled her closer to his chest. He whispered into her ears, “I missed you so much, it's been a long while, My love” He placed his head on hers °∆° R18 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOOK COVER ISN'T MINE, IT WAS FOUND AND REDESIGNED BY ME. ~Chapter 36~

"If you know what is good for you, you would do something about that swelling"

Stepping forward, getting toe to toe with her, Yen looked up at her, "I will do no such thing" she answered flatly without fear.

Finally reaching her expected location, Marina placed a block of ice wrapped with a rag in front of her.

"It would be a lot more helpful if you didn't pick fights with her" The maid cautioned softly. Yeona stared at her fully remembering she was an Aswinesian, and not just any Aswinesian, but according to her mother, she is an Aswinesian who can be trusted.

"I derive pleasure from it. It makes my entire day" she said with a pleasant smile playing on her lips.

Marina sighed and wrapped her arms around the young lady. Her hug gave off a pitiful feeling that Yen didn't know if she should let her be or push her away.

She nonchalantly chose the former and relaxed her tensed muscles in her hand-maid arms.

"I will tell you everything I know about our country, its people, its ways, and also the relation we have with the gods and goddess"

"Everything?"

"Everything. I solemnly swear" she had sworn an oath and she would fulfill it.

Yen nodded, she moved around her, ready to start the day's chores.

"Oh, by the way, Marina." She began saying.

Marina turned her head to her, but her attention was still kept on the broccoli she was cutting.

"Sereia {pause} Lady Sereia needs water to have her morning bath"

"Oh, I see, I would do just that at the moment" She replied, immediately heading to the instruction given to her.

Yeona slid to take over the chopping of the vegetables, she soon began making breakfast for the family.

🌗

Sera stood in front of Yen's mirror, her fingertips trailed the markings that had appeared on her lower abdomen.

She had seen this marking on Yeona's abdomen back when they were both in the Anly pool.

But the tattoo was different, very different. If she were to give a name to Yeona's tattoo or even get a general feel of what the tattoo is about, she would say her friend's tattoo gave off the description of night and shadow notions.

But hers, hers, gave a watery and sea-like feel.

Knock, knock.

The sound of the door being knocked on pulled her attention away from her body. She immediately wrapped her body with a scarf Yen had lying around.

"Come in" she invited. Marina came with a pail of buckets. She curtly bowed at Sera as she made her way to the bathroom.

She seems more polite than yesterday, she calmly thought to herself.

"Your bath is ready, everything you would need is in and set for you"

"Thank you"

She nodded and bowed, before finally taking her leave.

Weird, I thought she would say something to me or abolish me about what happened yesterday Sera wondered.

Sereia took the liberty to remove her clothes and make haste to the bathroom. It was as tho, the sweat, dust, and stress from the previous day's event were finally catching up to her.

She dipped herself into the hot water, she stilled a little, letting it settle deep into the pores of her skin.

Bliss.

It was a blissful and satisfying bath she was having at the moment.

Her fingers trailed over the markings. She didn't understand why, but for some reason, she felt happy about the markings. Almost as though she had been waiting for it.

She simply couldn't comprehend it.

Meticulously, she created a water-like rope, moving it slowly towards the sink, she grabbed the medium size mirror that sat on it.

Softly smiling, she lifted her body a bit just so she could see the markings reflecting in the mirror.

Giggles.

Feeling giddy and ticklish. She traced her finger on the markings yet again.

The tattoo itself was intricately beautiful. A mesmerizing tattoo adorning the lower part of her stomach.

The markings, where two sinuous waves intertwine, form an elegant symmetrical "S" shape. These waves embody the flow of water.

The markings were meticulously detailed like she had gone to have it done by an expert. Every curve and crest, reveals intricate patterns reminiscent of flowing water. They were in shades of blues and filling greens.

Yet again, she could not shake off the feeling that she had been waiting endlessly just for it.

Scrubbing her body clean, she hummed lowly to herself as she bathed. Contrary to Yen, who woke up like she was ready to fight the world.

Sereia felt relaxed like a weight had finally been lifted off her shoulders.

Suddenly, the door of the bathroom flew open, and standing in front was a worried Yeona.

A perplexed expression painted Sereia's face, "Is something wrong?"

"YES SOMETHING'S WRONG!!" She yelled.

With furrowed brows, her eyes waited for more reasons why something would be wrong, "I was downstairs, I have made breakfast, came back upstairs arranged the room, and began calling out for you"

"But I got no respond. I thought you had drowned or something" Her voice got lower and lower as she spoke.

"Drowned? Don't be ridiculous. How can I drown in a 5 ft (1.52 meters) bowl, and also water is the last thing that could ever drown me".

"Remember? I have the power to control water and also change to actual water, so I can not possibly die by water".

Yen sighed a sigh of relief, "I am sorry. I am just so tensed since yesterday."

"Really? I didn't notice" Sereia replied sarcastically with Yen answered with only a roll of her eyes.

Yeona turned around to leave at the same time Sereia decided to stand to her full height.

And she saw it.

Her eyes went wide as she stared at her friend's abdomen.

Meanwhile, Sereia was still smiling at the markings, not noticing the shocked and worried look on Yen's face.

"Hey Yen"

"Sera?"

They both called out to each other simultaneously.

Sereia looked up, with her eyes glistering with strange happiness that even Yeona couldn't comprehend it.

"Sereia? You abdomen".

"What about it?" she asked casually as she stepped out of the bowl and reached for the towel, but strangely enough she didn't wrap it around herself. She let it lay loose around her neck.

She did so just so Yen could get full look at it.

"When? How? Where?" She questioned hysterically. It was clear her thought were not aligned, and they were all over the place.

"When? It was the day before yesterday, How? I really don't know it woke me up from my sleep actually, Where? At home in my room" She had answered it all, but for some reason Yen was annoyed. She felt like her questions weren't answered.

Sereia stepped closer to her and said, "We really need to ask my mother what this markings mean." she placed her hands over Yeona's abdomen, clearly indicating about her own markings.

"Let us just get ready for the day" she muttered, rather than her morning anger she just felt exhausted.

She was too tired to even think straight.

Sereia stepped out, and her eyes landed on the food laid out for her.

"Is this for both of us?"

"It just for you." Yen answered, peeling her clothes off her body as she readied herself for bath.

"What about yours?" she asked looking at her. She paused for a moment before continuing what she was doing.

"If you hadn't come that would be my food" She turned to look at her, giving her a reassuring smile.

"So eat on. And I would love you to try the meal I made with my own hands" she said with a smile, before making move to enter the bathroom.

"So don't think about it and just eat it. I have few Uolas left, so I can easily get something when we go out. Like roasted potatoes" At this point she was talking from in side the bathroom.

Sereia looked at the plate of food.

"Yen, It would be better if we share the meal. I am sure mother or father would come pick me, then we can go to Isadora Kingi".

"Isadora Kingi? Who is that?"

"You do not know who Lady Kingi is?"

There was no respond, just splashes of water. She went back to admiring her new-found markings before she finally decided to wear clothes.
