22 Movie Date (?)

(General POV)

Saturday arrived sooner than Alan was prepared for.

Reminding himself of his...outing today with Alice, he got up earlier than usual and completed his morning routine and workout before eating a light breakfast with Charlie. The older man probably sensed his strange mood but chose not to question it.

After breakfast, the Chief of Police dropped a few words and left for work leaving Alan to muck around the house till around twelve-thirty.

Although the implication for today's outing was a date, Alan refused to jump to conclusions. He was dense most of the time but with Alice's direct flirting approach, it was safe to say that she was eyeing him as a potential...partner.

The Cullens didn't drink human blood so it was unlikely she was after that specific aspect.

Besides, unlike the original plot, Jasper wasn't her partner. He was in a relationship with someone whom Alan hadn't seen before. It only served to prove that this world was indeed the assumed alternate universe of Twilight.

Thinking of this, Alan couldn't help but sigh.

'Life would be so much easier if I knew what would happen in the future.'

Not that it wasn't easy right now but it was unnerving to not know what the future holds.

"Haa, all this thinking is making me thirsty," he smacked his lips together feeling his throat quite parched.

Pouring himself a glass of water, he gulped it down and wiped his mouth using the back of his hand. As he placed the glass on the counter, he suddenly froze and looked out the window with narrowed eyes.

'Someone is watching me...'

It wasn't a hostile gaze but that didn't make it any better. Being spied on in one's own home isn't something anyone would want.

Despite his urge to search for the source, Alan knew it was better to ignore it and pretend he noticed nothing. At least, in that way, whoever had their eye on him wouldn't suspect anything out of the ordinary. Concluding that this was the best judgement, he turned his attention away from the window and walked further into the house.

At the same time outside...

"Ah, he's gone," Rosalie muttered. "He looked out of the window for a moment though. Do you think he noticed us?"

"Nah, he couldn't have," Leslie shook her head before straightening her back. "Remind me again why we came here?"

"Because..." Rosalie drawled, flipping back her blonde hair, "He's hiding something. Something about that kidnapping five years ago just doesn't sit right with me. I mean, none of us noticed anyone else there at the time other than that Alan kid and Rowan. And yet, the one who died wasn't the human but the rogue."

"We did have a theory that he was the one who killed Rowan," Leslie agreed. But shaking her head, she explained, "However, how would he have done it? He's human."

"Don't you remember what Edward said?" hissed Rosalie. Pointing toward the house, she said, "Edward can't read his mind. What if he isn't human?"

"Then aren't you being a little hypocritical," retorted Leslie with a frown. "We aren't exactly 'human' either. If anything, he has more reason to be suspicious of us than we of him."

Rosalie glared at the other female but kept silent, knowing that Leslie was right.

Releasing a sigh, Leslie softened her tone as she said, "Look, I know you're just looking out for Alice. But I doubt even she would approve of you doing this. Let's just let things play out for now, alright?"

"..."

Huffing, Rosalie silently agreed with Leslie's words. Giving the Swan residence another brief glance, she ran off into the distance with Leslie following a few seconds later.

When the two ladies left, Alan felt their absence from within the house. He noticed that the eyes watching him had disappeared leaving him to sigh in relief.

Arriving at the cinema at 1 PM sharp, Alan looked around trying to spot the pixie-haired female in the crowd.

Suddenly, he felt a presence behind and he turned around to face a smiling Alice. Her right hand was reached out in front of her almost brushing with his shoulder.

With a fake pout, she said, "Aw. I was going to surprise you."

Alan chuckled replying, "It's going to take a lot more than that to surprise me."

"No kidding," she giggled, brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear. Tilting her head, she motioned toward the ticket booth and asked, "Shall we get our tickets?"

"Sure. What movie did you have in mind?" Alan's eyes immediately drew toward the various posters on the wall. None of the posters showed movies that he was familiar with but they all looked interesting.

Alice followed his line of sight and pointed to the poster on the far end, "I was thinking we could watch that one. The trailer looked interesting."

Alan focused on the poster she pointed to and his lips twitched.

[Night of the Living Vampire]

"That's...an interesting choice," Alan muttered in amusement.

"I hope you're okay with horror movies," Alice smirked. She hooked an arm around his and dragged him toward the ticket booth. Alan didn't put up any resistance and let her drag him there but instantly stopped her from retrieving money from her purse.

Taking out his wallet, he said, "I'll pay for the tickets."

"Well aren't you the gentleman," said the pixie-haired female. Shrugging, she continued to say, "If that's the case, I won't argue."

Chuckling at her bluntness, Alan took out a few bills from his wallet and handed them over to the person behind the booth. After receiving the tickets, Alan glanced at the snacks area and asked, "Would you like some popcorn?"

Alice shook her head and replied, "No thank you. I'm not a big fan of it."

'Ah, that's right. They don't eat human food' thought Alan. 'In that case, I'd rather not be the only one eating. Instead, I'll just buy a drink.'

"I'll buy myself something to drink. You can head on inside first," he told her.

Nodding her head, Alice walked away leaving Alan to go purchase his drink. When he turned around, he ended up seeing Sean walking through the entrance door with an unfamiliar girl holding his hand.

Sean, as if noticing that someone was staring at him, glanced up meeting Alan's eyes. As the two boys made eye contact, a strange atmosphere settled.
