3 Alan is Still in the Forest

(General POV)

In the outer forest of Forks, members of the Quileute Tribe were on their nightly patrols. Darting through the trees in their wolf forms, the tribe members carefully observed every detail of the forest, picking up even the slightest movement.

One of the members, a grey wolf, picked up a strange scent coming from one specific direction. He quickly got the attention of the patrol leader and alerted him.

The wolves gathered around the scent and imprinted it in their minds before dashing off into the distance, following the trail.

The trail went on for several meters until it came to a stop in front of a tall pine tree.

The wolves instantly noticed the scorch mark on the ground and they looked around with a bit of confusion.

'The scent stops here Dan,' one of the members telepathically said. 'What do we do now?'

Dan, the leader of the group inwardly frowned and sniffed around the tree before sniffing the burnt area.

'It's weird. This doesn't smell like a usual campfire. And the scent...there's a bit of it coming from the tree.'

Dan glanced up at the tree but couldn't spot anything out of the ordinary.

Since there was nothing else to go on, they could only end the search.

Motioning to his group, Dan said, 'Let's go back for now and report it to the chief. Keep your sense sharp and report anything unusual.'

'Roger that.'

'Got it.'

'Understood.'

After one more scan of the area, the group darted off - back to where they came from.

(First Person POV)

I didn't wait around for the furries. Once I saw them get close, I quickly blasted myself off onto the next tree.

And the next. And the next. And the next - all the way out of this neverending forest.

After nearly two hours of tree hopping, I had finally closed the distance between myself and the main road. However, before I knew it, the moon was already high in the sky and the world around me had been blanketed by darkness.

As much as I wanted to keep moving, I didn't have the strength to. I was starving and dead tired after using every last drop of my energy to get out of this blasted forest. What I needed most right now was sleep.

I picked a suitable tree with thick branches and lay against the trunk, closing my eyes.

The temperature of my body dropped as the cool air brushed against it. Shivering, I breathed out a cloud of steam from my nostrils and raised the heat in my body. If I was on the ground, I would started a camp fire but I didn't want to risk attracting unwanted attention. Who knows what kinds of creatures walked around here at night.

(Ahem, vampires and shifters perhaps?)

After my body warmed up, I finally felt comfortable to sleep.

It didn't take long for my consciousness to fade off into dreamland.

(General POV)

Some kilometers away, in the dead of the night, Alice Cullen suddenly stopped in her tracks and gasped.

A vision appeared before her that foretold a possible future. The image of a young man flashed in her mind as well as an image of boy surrounded by blue flames. Instincitvely, Alice knew that this person was her destined partner. Unfortunately, she could not make out his face.

"Alice?"

Rosalie noticed her sister frozen on the staircase. Judging by the startled look on her face, it seems Alice had another vision.

The pixie-haired female turned around to face Rosalie with a smile blooming on her face.

"I saw him Rosalie," she breathed happily. With twinkling eyes, Alice said, "I finally saw my destined one. I think we will be meeting soon."

Rosalie's eyes widened in shock, "Your destined partner?"

Hearing the conversation, the rest of the Cullen family gathered around their pixie-haired family member.

"That's wonderful news," Esme Cullen exclaimed. She quickly pulled her youngest psuedo-daughter into a hug. "What's he like? Is he one of us?"

Her question prompted a small frown to form on Alice's face. Pulling away from the hug, she replied, "I...I'm not sure. Although I saw him, I wasn't able to get a glimpse of his face. I only saw two images of him; one of a grown man and the other...of a child. They were surrounded by blue flames..."

"Blue flames?" Carlisle frowned.

Rosalie looked at her mate who raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah...I don't know what that means," Alice pouted slightly. Releasing a sigh, she muttered, "I wish I could've at least gotten a tiny glimpse at his face."

Edward suddenly spoke up, "You say you him as a child...then, could it be that he is still a child?"

"I was thinking the same thing," Leslie, Jasper's partner, nodded her head. She looked at Alice and said, "Maybe you couldn't see his face because you two are not supposed to meet yet. I think you'll probably meet him in the future when he's grown up."

Alice contemplated over her words and agreed.

"Yes, I think you're right. It's a shame though. I was hoping to meet him as soon as possible," she muttered sadly.

Esme rubbed her back comfortingly, "You've waited decades for your mate. Just a little longer shouldn't be too difficult. At least now you know that you will meet him soon."

Alice smiled sadly but nodded.

Glancing up at the bright moon in the sky, she let out a little sigh.

She childishly thought, 'I hope he's the man of my dreams.'

Atop an oak tree, a certain boy let out an unflattering sneeze.

"Damn. I hope I'm not getting a cold..."

(First Person POV)

The early morning sunlight breached the leaves of the tree and fell on my sleeping figure urging me to wake up.

Opening my eyes, I quickly remembered where I was and looked down at the branch I was hugging so tightly. Thank goodness for my hugging tendencies otherwise, I may have accidentally slipped off during the night.

My stomach let out a gurgling sound alerting me of its starved state.

If I was a nature expert, I would have climbed down the tree to search for berries and whatnot but sadly, I was born and raised city boy. Now I kind of wished I paid attention when my dad was giving his weekly agricultural lecture at the breakfast table.

Alas, what can be done?

My body had recovered a good amount of energy so I should be able to make it out of this forest in an hour tops.

Ignoring my ever-growing hunger, I stretched my limbs and rolled my neck around for a bit getting rid of the stiffness before standing up on the branch and readying my stance.

After that, I pushed off from the branch and blasted blue flames from my feet and fists launching me to the nearest tree.
