Epilogue of the Final Boss.

The final boss, a player changed into a terrifying and almost all-powerful vampire. Her body reeks of death and blood. Her hair swayed about naturally despite there being no wind. She had a white, long hair with red, bloody eyes. Blood covered her left cheek.

She wore a red vest over the navy dress. She wore high-heeled boots and a woven belt.

She bared her two sharp teeth at her opponents. They took a step back cautiously.

There were 12 players around her. They were looking for an opening while communicating through comms.

Then, without a chant but with only a swing of her left arm, thousands of magic circles materialized in the sky.

The players looked at them in horror and terror, they even forgot to breathe. Unless them, the support.

They immediately cast barriers to each player. As soon as they finished, endless lightning with the power of millions of volts struck them.

For a little while, they only saw white flashes and felt the ground trembling. In fear, they prayed in their hearts the barrier would last until the attack ended. Their prayers were answered. Soon, the lightning faded away.

"It's finally over. Everyone, listen, her health isn't much left and she's in her last phase. I know we've been fighting for eight hours, but if we die now, humanity might as well go extinct.

"We mustn't back down now!" A mage with pink hair yelled. "As long as we're together, nothing will stand in our way." She continued with a smile. She couldn't show her weakness when encouraging her exhausted party members.

"Do you think you can win against me? I will not let you win after what you've done to me!" The boss abruptly roared in intense hatred. "Playtime is over!" She made a move. Her figure became after images and she reappeared next to a man.

His username was 4rtemis. He carried two black daggers and wearing light armor covering his chest and shoulders.

He raised his daggers when a blur of motion came at him.

At some point in time, her fingernails became sharp claws. She aimed for his chest. However, he parried her attack almost instinctively despite the fact he couldn't follow her movements.

Sparks spread everywhere upon impact. His body flew a few meters away. He stabilized himself and landed on the ground as he slid backward for a few meters.

4rtemis shifted his vision to the demoness in a hurry. She already vanished!

His eyes shrink as he immediately looks around the area, only to receive a sharp pain coming from his abdomen. His vision flickered and his mind went blank.

Before anyone could realized it, 4rtemis was sent flying by the demoness and only stopped when he crashed a boulder, producing a loud thud and debris went everywhere. Dust filled the area, ordinary people wouldn't know whether he was still alive or not, but they knew he was a step away from death.

"What just happened?!" A burly man with a giant axe and red armor pondered in shock. Everything went too fast!

"Everyone, on your guard!" The pink haired mage shouted with her eyes looking at the demoness in caution. At the same time, she stole glances at 4rtemis in worry.

"Hey, Shino. What did we do to deserve that?" The demoness pondered. Her eyes locked on the pink haired mage. "I and him… we saved cities and countries, we didn't even ask for any compensation, yet why does humanity repay us with that?"

The players react differently. Some had regrets and melancholy, some stiffened.

"You accused him because you thought he was that monster's puppet. You even go as far as fabricating the evidence. Tell me, compared to what you've done to me, how am I the villain?" The demoness continued.

"Don't put the blame on me! I've done my best to defend him! You should know that! You see me trying!" Shino rebuked.

"You could've done better! Why didn't you destroy the organization with your magic! Why didn't you join my side when I tried to rescue him? Yet instead! You…!" The demoness stopped because she realized what she said next wouldn't change a thing. The fact remained.

He was dead because humanity betrayed them.

"Enough, I won't say any further." The vampire queen looked at Shino with an enraged eyes. She raised her hand to her chest and opened her palm. A ball of lightning took form.

She's going to attack! Shino shouted at herself warily. She then held her staff with both hands and positioned it vertically. She casted powerful barrier to herself and to her friends.

After she finished, she diverted her attention to the demoness. The ball of lightning became dark filled with ominous energy and a powerful energy that could destroy even Jupiter! Her heart sank.

How could she still be able to use such a powerful spell? Haven't we been fighting for 8 hours? Wait, maybe...!

At this time, she realized that the demoness wasn't seriously fighting them the entire time.

Following this line of thought, something popped up in her mind; a possibility, no, the truth.

The demoness could end the fight anytime she wanted. This makes Shino wonder.

"If you are this powerful, why didn't you end the fight quickly?"

"It has nothing to do with you. Too bad it has to end like this. Good bye, old friend. Ancient Spell: Black Shock." The demoness compressed the lighting ball's size to the size of a marble. Next, she flick her finger.

The ball was launched at the speed of sound. In the way, the ball split itself into 10 balls.

An ancient spell…! but my barrier can handle them! Shino analyzed the situation as her mind moved extremely quickly. Then, she immediately added, but what is this feeling in my heart?

The lightning balls hit the remaining players. Upon impact, the barriers were destroyed but the balls were also vanished. Sounds similar to glass breaking spread throughout the area.

Shino felt relief, but only for a brief moment. She immediately launched a counterattack.

She pointed her staff at the demoness and with determined eyes, she shouted, "Ancient Spell: Heavenly Judgement!"

Pure holy light appeared before her staff and shot out a white beam. The light contains the power of ten thousand nukes.

As soon as she casted that spell, the stifling feeling in her heart surfaced.

On the other hand, the demoness faced the beam with a calm expression. She faced her palm at Shino and a red magic circle took form. Then, a black and long creature wriggled out of her hand.

It doesn't have any face, only an open mouth showing its sharp rowing of teeth.

Witnessing such a creature, Shino's pupils shrank in size but her eyelids widened.

What is that? Something's off, Shino said to herself.

"Devour." Demoness simply uttered and the monster opened its mouth, the beam entered its stomach, but nothing happened. Instead, the monster burped and 'looked' at the players.

They flinched in surprise. Thankfully, they didn't let emotions get the better of them, even though some of them were trembling, some felt exhausted mentally and their line of thought couldn't think straight. They still assumed a fighting stance.

Shino and the support cast barriers. Shino made sure to cast a multitude of barriers to each player. Her mana sucked dry. That ancient spell cost a lot of mana.

Her mind became hazy and blood flowed down from her orifices.

"Shino, your face!" One of the supporters noticed and immediately cast a healing spell on her. Right now, Shino's eyes were red with blood trickling down like tears.

"No, I'm alright. Focus on strengthening the barriers." She ordered.

"But!"

"Do what I said if you want to survive!" She shouted. This shocked the support as she never saw Shino like this. She could only nod and return to her position before reinforcing the barriers.

"Go." The demoness' words were emotionless.

The black creature rushed at them with a gaping maw. In a second, it arrived before them.

The tank tried to stop its pace by swinging his axe and hitting its face as powerful as possible. Sparks flew everywhere but the axe was destroyed to tiny pieces upon landing. The skin was extremely tough.

The tank's expression changed to shock and despair. He slowly lifted his eyes to the monster.

The creature opened its mouth and swallowed him in one breath. It easily penetrated his barrier.

No sound came from the beast's mouth. No scream, no bones cracking or no armor breaking noises. It shocked them to the core.

Just before they could think, the beast made its move and in an instant, 9 players had disappeared. They didn't even let out a scream. It was akin to people vanishing into the thin air.

Shino was the only one left. The creature didn't immediately kill her and looked at her from above.

Shino observed the creature. The latter exude an unsettling aura and smell like a corpse.

I see, so this is what I've been feeling. It's the feeling of death approaching, Shino said to herself.

It then devoured Shino before returning to the demoness' palm. No one else remained.

Silence descends. She stood silently with eyes closed. It was unknown what she was thinking right now.

"Airi." A man's voice called out her name.

All at once, the surrounding became gray and soundless. Sound had vanished from the world. She raised her guard as she turned to the source.

She saw a man with his face concealed under the thick veil of darkness. The man wore a tophat with a yellow eye staring at her.

Beware of the man with the one eyed hat, that line appeared in her mind. No one in the world, unless you lived under a rock, didn't know him.

"I'm sorry for your loss, truly, I'm sorry. It is my fault this happened to you, and to all of us. I know it will not bring him and them back, but this is the least I can do."

He raised his left hand and something appeared out of the thin air. The head of the mastermind which caused her lover to die.

"Did you kill him?"

"Yeah," He replied. "I'm sorry that I got him first before you, but he's a tricky opponent even with my strength."

"Overseer, thank you." She showed gratitude to the man.

His words didn't imply she was weak. The mastermind was just incredibly powerful. She fought the bastard a few times in the past, he always bested her.

After their last fight, she failed to locate him and resorted to this, becoming the last boss of humanity to attract him.

He was fond of chaos, but without life, there'd be no chaos.

That bastard surely stopped her for that. However, he was dead and with Overseer here, he must've come here to punish her. She accepted it.

"You wiped out 90% of humanity just to lure him, you're not thinking of living as if nothing happened, right?"

"No, I didn't wipe out most of humanity just for that, they deserve what happened."

"Are you justifying your actions?" Asked Overseer in a flat tone.

"No, I'm not. I feel like you have to know."

He chuckled, which was something he rarely do.

"Why are you laughing?" Airi looked at him weirdly.

"No, it's nothing." He shook his head and then, all of a sudden, the hat's eye color changed to blue.

"May you drip a drop of blood into it?"

She looked at him warily and heeded his words. If he wanted her dead, she'd have died already.

The eye received the drop of blood and blue particles start to come out of it, gathering in one point in front of it. It formed into two, blue eyeballs.

"Excuse me."

Without warning, Overseer plucked her eyes out. She felt a bit of pain as her tolerance towards it was beyond average.

She lost my eyesight briefly before she could see again.

"They're Eyes of Regret, it will bring you back to the past based on how much regret you had back then and it will bring you to that moment."

"Why are you doing this? I've killed so many people!"

"It's not your fault, child. It is only right for me to take responsibility and give you compensation, especially with everything you went through. What transpired back then should've not happened." His eyes lingered with sadness and regret. She couldn't blame him for his death either.

Overseer fought something unfathomable beyond human comprehension when that happened.

"But still, I don't deserve this! None of what happened is because of you! Use these eyes yourself!"

"I cannot. This hat binds me only to the present. You should return to the past and make sure none of this happened again.

"If you encounter trouble in the past, you can communicate with me through the eyes. Make sure to sacrifice a living being and pray to me like you always did."

Since he insisted, she no longer had words to say. As much as she hated to say it because of what she did. She was happy with these eyes, she has one more chance to fix everything.

"Thank you." Warm tears flowed down. How long has it been since I cried? She thought to herself.

"Go, I shall take care of the rest."

"Un."

She recounted her past. She had so many regrets, but she let go of some of them, except that moment when she failed to save him. Should I return to that moment? No, I lack information and strength to fight that bastard, she wondered and continued,

At that moment, I regret being too weak and wish I could go back in time to be stronger.

That's right, the regret by being weak. I should return to that time, before everything started!
