78 The disinterest of success

Airon sensed a slight change in Amy and asked more intently, "What's wrong, are you feeling sick?"

Hearing this question, Amy quickly shook her head and smiled again, "I'm fine, I just thought of something! Come, let's have a toast."

As soon as Amy said that, Airon raised his bottle and wanted to end this somewhat awkward conversation, "By the way, do you have something special to ask me? Didn't your sister mention it just now?"

Amy stood up and walked towards the crowd, after walking a few steps, she suddenly turned around and said with a smile, "Maybe later, we can be more than just friends."

Seeing Amy's expression, Airon suddenly stopped and said, "Then it looks like it's settled, go rest."

"Yes, bye!" Amy walked away from the mensa where Airon was standing with a cheerful smile and walked back to her sister, although today she didn't successfully confess what she wanted, she still said that sentence, which is considered a kind of success.

Airon, on the other hand, looked at Amy who was walking away and sighed with relief, he was not at all foolish, of course he knew Amy's intentions and he was not at all interested in a romantic relationship, maybe it is because he has no feelings for her or it is because he has other kind of thoughts in his mind.

Romance and love has a lot of drama, you only need to see the problems that poor Rick has with his wife to know that it is not usually a good idea to have a partner at the end of the world. Besides a distraction, it could lead to other more serious problems and right now he wasn't interested.

Fortunately, Amy seems to be a very observant girl and completely understood his intention, so Airon felt much calmer. Until now, he hadn't thought he could make it in this world and if he did, he'll make sure not to waste his time with relationships.

Undoubtedly, this kind of mentality will take him very far and give him chances to save many people. Looking around him, all those people around him are undoubtedly real people and not side characters, so Airon finds it rewarding to at least be able to maintain his security. Whenever that feeling of reassurance arises, he remembers that there are many important things that will happen later on.

With that determined mindset, Airon will make sure to protect his community and create a safe path for everyone.

This did not sidetrack him with other uncomfortable thoughts, despite being surrounded by peers, he always had the oppressive feeling of a leader and deep in his conscience he did not want to get involved in the topic of love.

Sighing again, Airon looked at the celebrating crowd in the distance. These people are the proof of his existence in this world and the reason he lives in this world. If these people disappear, he might not even have the motivation to go on.

"I should never let them drink alcohol to excess again." Airon muttered as he watched a young man almost burn alive, if it wasn't for Merle kicking him out, quite possibly tonight he would have a bad experience.

"I'm thinking the same thing buddy." Just as Airon was thinking out loud, a quiet voice suddenly sounded behind him.

Airon turned his head to mediate who was speaking and found Shane, who had a beer in his hand and sat down next to him.

"Shane, how are you buddy?" Airon asked with a slight smile. Shane was considered pro Airon, someone very special, this man might be the only one along with a few others who understood at first his decisions.

In the original story, if it wasn't for Shane's obsession with Lori which personally was somewhat unnecessary, this man could have been very influential to the future of the group. Therefore, even after his death he was someone very well remembered by people.

"Looks like everyone is having a good time, I never thought this place would turn out better than the CDC." Shane said with an observant look.

Airon, who was thinking about Shane's potential, smiled and said, "Of course, although we should regulate the consumption of Alcohol of all these people."

After hearing Airon's answer, Shane's expression became a little complicated and he said, "Many of these people haven't suffered enough, but they are all willing to fight to survive. It was good that we have a leader with that fighting vision, it would be difficult otherwise."

"Haha, you think too much of my way of leading, I'm simply trying to survive while helping people along that path."

Shane was silent, he could sympathize with Airon by looking at him, both he how Airon had no family and just survived in this world while leading others. "I want to believe that we will all survive later but..."

As he spoke, he pointed off into the distance, looked towards the people celebrating and said, "Many will die and we cannot avoid it, the only thing we will continue to do is to keep fighting for those who are no longer with us."

"It is better not to think about what may happen or will happen later, if we are consumed by thoughts we will do nothing with actions." Airon set the bottle down in his hand.

Seeing that Shane's mouth was open, that he seemed to be thinking about something but couldn't say anything, Airon felt a little uncomfortable. He temporarily stopped what he was doing, stood up and said, "If we ever get to expand and manage to open a shelter, you'll be the perfect candidate to lead those people."

When Shane heard what Airon said, he still couldn't believe it. After thinking for a moment, he immediately discovered how well Airon thought of him and said, "As you say buddy, to get there we need to try hard enough."

"Tsk, the problem won't be the walkers, I'm sure pretty soon our problem will be the other humans who don't want to see our goals to survive." Looking at Shane, Airon voiced his concerns.

Shane took a sip of his beer and said, "We will kill everyone who wants to harm us, you have my word."

"Yeah, we should rest then, we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow." Airon reached out his hand to Shane and helped him up. Looking off into the distance, he pointed out, "This place will be awesome dude, no one will dream of hurting us."

After saying that, Airon walked to his room, he didn't want to have any more conversations with anyone. Today had been a long day and all he wanted was to rest, he had been putting in a lot of effort these past few days after all.

It could be said that the progress of his plans would be slow, but the expected results no one could imagine. It was only a matter of time before the prison would become a very strong and fearsome base today.

There are very few communities that are moving at the same speed as Airon, and although he knew he could not compare with others, it was only a matter of time to keep increasing his power.

Once this place is ready, it will be time to open another shelter and so on progressively.
