126 The contents of the letter

Georgia College of Technology

Central Department

Western Area.

A meeting was taking place in a meeting room about the progress of the base in this part of Georgia. Now, under Airon's orders and plans, everyone was clearing buildings in the surrounding area while moving the walkers to a completely different location to avoid infection.

"Sir, the walls are scheduled to be built in a few more weeks, with all our people hard at work we could consider the initial mint could be finished as soon as possible."

"Our attack squad people have been tasked with sealing off different points in our area to prevent walker hordes in the surrounding area, another group is tasked with creating a completely different uniform to classify our people so that the soldiers are more protected when it comes to protecting a walker bite."

In an open space, a projector showed the design of the suit to protect soldiers effectively for bites against walkers, this suit in addition to having bite protection, also has a gas mask, bulletproof vest and an optimal design for confrontations not only against walkers.

"This suit design bears the name Arm-3J, the first prototype is prepared to be used by experienced soldiers and tell us their opinions and points for improvement before sending the information to the team that is in the city of Atlanta."

"What about resources? That equipment looks very futuristic, is it really useful?" From the top of the conference room, Shane stood up and pointed to the suit design.

Anna, who was now in charge of weapons, food and equipment production, looked at Shane and nodded, "This suit is useful and don't be put off by its futuristic look, it will actually be very versatile and because of the materials it's not a problem to be able to make a thousand of these suits from the reserves Captain Sam Valdez is gathering while training soldiers."

Shane scratched his nose and nodded, "Fabricate the prototype, have it used by an elite squad and then have them do a review. Later, I'll try to communicate with Airon before making a decision."

Anna nodded and they all started to work, this group of people was put together by Anna and Shane who under Airon's directions was to make this shelter a superior organization. Now they are no longer survivors trying to protect their lives, they are humans trying to rebuild the future.

"Sir, the A-1 team in the south received an attack from a group of survivors, we captured some individuals while the others were shot down." A soldier approached Shane and reported.

"What the hell are they doing capturing those scumbags when they should have killed them?" Shane got up and went to solve this problem.

West Georgia Prison

"What's the message?"

The old man pulled a letter from his arms and handed it carefully to Rick.

Rick took the letter and looked at it several times with a strange expression. The envelope was folded and the paper was white with a wax seal in the middle. It had been a long time since he had seen anything similar.

Rick opened the envelope, spread out the notepaper and began to leaf through the contents, his expression gradually changing from calm to surprise, and finally even the hand holding the letter was trembling.

Putting the letter away, he approached the three elders in one step and saw an elderly couple at a glance. Looking at the old man, Rick said in a trembling voice, "You are the scientist Gregor Helmont?"

Seeing the old man smile and nod in response, Rick turned his head to look at the old woman next to the old man and asked again, "So you must be Marie Curie?"

The old woman also nodded slightly and took Rick's hands with a smile, "Airon told us that in this place they are still doing their best to find a cure for this infernal virus. We chatted a lot yesterday, he told us that our help might still be worth it."

Gregor next to her also said, "Yes, we thought it wouldn't be worth mentioning that we had useless degrees to survive today, but when he mentioned that there were still safe bases we dared to mention it to him personally."

Gregor Helmont sighed as he looked at his wife, his eyes were disappointed and he quickly said, "My wife and I tried to support the investigation at the CDC and to provide support, we were escorted by the military, but the traffic jam made it impossible to arrive on time. As a result, we had an accident and were taken to the other side of the city."

Marie nodded and then said, "Maybe it was fate that reunited us with your people, but when we heard that although the CDC was destroyed, your group was moved to this place and now we are anxious to reunite."

Rick listened to the detailed explanation of the elderly couple and another one who had approached, indicated that he also had proper qualifications and could be of use in the investigation. When he heard all this, Rick couldn't help but admire the luck of Airon and the group, these people are key figures in advancing the investigation.

Just as Rick was about to respond calmly, a shout came from his side, "My God! Professor Helmont! Madame Marie! Am I not dreaming?"

Candace ran to the elders who were standing in front of Rick, she grabbed their hands wanting to say something but due to the shock she couldn't do anything. They quickly hugged and then Edwin also came over with an excited expression.

Edwin Jenner looked at his wife with a happy smile, then walked over to Professor Helmont and said with an apologetic tone, "Professor Gregor, we couldn't do anything for you when we lost communications."

Professor Gregor Helmont stepped forward to greet Edwin and went straight to what was troubling him from the beginning, "Don't talk useless things, where is the laboratory, how are the conditions in this place?"

Edwin said directly, "The conditions are very good, professor. Airon did everything possible to set up a lab with all the requirements to be able to continue with the research, there is power but the research process is on pause because we ran into some problems, fortunately you are in this place."

The only thing that matters to Gregor Helmont now is the lab, how can he be in the mood to respond to Edwin's compliments, the smile on his face is gone, the atmosphere on his face changed and he said, "Alright, let's hurry to catch up."

After speaking, he turned around and was about to go inside. Rick looked at the old man with a wry smile and was about to say that he would arrange accommodations for them first, but unexpectedly,

Gregor stopped as he walked forward and turned back to face another old man next to him, showing an embarrassed expression, "See my excitement I forgot to introduce you to this old man. This is Richard Gatling, don't look at him as a quiet old man, he is an expert according to him in creating weapons."

After saying that, looked at the old man and Gregor said, "I'm sorry, but I'm sure you can create all kinds of weapons in this place if they admire your work."

After talking to Richard Gatling, Gregor smiled and walked towards the inner courtyard, and his wife Marie also followed them even with a wry smile along with Candace.

The older man named Richard flashed a smile and then nodded to Rick.

Rick felt that he could go to sleep with a smile tonight, it seems that the luck they had this time was very good, made up for what happened last night.

He quickly stepped forward, reached out to shake Richard's hand, then looked at the two children next to the old man and asked, "Are these three your grandchildren?"

As soon as the two children were mentioned, Richard's face was covered with a loving smile, he placed his hands on the three children's heads and then said the first sentence after entering the base, "These are my grandchildren, their parents traveled on business before the end of the world broke out, we are still waiting to hear from them."

Rick squatted down and waved behind him, and Carl immediately ran out of the crowd.

Rick pointed to Carl and said to the three children, "This is my son, he will show you the grounds of this place and introduce you to the other children, how about it?"

The two children nodded obediently, and took Carl's hand one by one, and the four children fled without a trace.

Rick stood up and said to Richard, "Come in with me, old man, and I'll find you a place to settle in, later you can see if you have any interesting ideas!"

He then turned to Rayan and said, "Have everyone get a blood test and go through the mandatory inspection."

Corporal Rayan nodded and looked at the others who were a bit stunned as they entered the courtyard. This place is like an indestructible fortress at the end of the world - just looking at the thickness of the base walls is something you can only look at in dreams!

As Rick spoke, everyone had reached the inner courtyard. After the mandatory tests that everyone has to take, Rick led this group of new survivors into his unit.

"Everyone, these two rooms will be yours from now on. How you allocate them is up to you. After you choose the room, just fill out the nameplate and hang it on the door."

After speaking, Rick ignored these excited boys and led Richard to another special unit area.
