214 In the dark (2)

ROAR!!!

"Help!"

The shouts alarmed the walkers who had headed towards where Airon and Alicia were, so they quickly changed course.

Tac pa tac pa...

The sound of soft footsteps echoed in the deep tunnel, and in the completely dark environment, two dazzling lights flickered.

The mutated walker figures silently stopped, and then after hearing gunshots in the distance the whole situation went out of control.

Airon walked to the front, facing the unknown darkness ahead, he was always a little uneasy. A moment ago he cursed the idiots in the distance for disturbing the atmosphere inside the tunnel, so after about half an hour Alicia and he walked in silence.

The two of them hurried out of the train entrance to get as far away as possible from those walkers in the distance, when suddenly on the way they encountered a black shadow on the tracks in front of them. As they approached, they realized it was an abandoned backpack.

"It seems we weren't the only ones who thought of escaping this way, at least we chose the right path.

After checking the backpack for a while, he found nothing useful, Airon stood up and said, "Looks like they didn't find any danger. The tunnel situation is better than expected on this side."

"It's better not to make any noise, those walkers could come back at any moment."

Looking at some leftover rags in the backpack on the ground, Alicia saw some wooden sticks that had fallen over the side of the train tracks. If they hadn't had night vision scopes, these things could be used to make some torches out of the gasoline in the bottles they were carrying.

They continued walking deeper into the tunnel, but before they could go very far, they stopped again.

In front of the tunnel, a kind of gas diffused in front of them, even in such a dark environment, they could see the unknown particles floating in the air. And after lingering for a while, Airon turned on the flashlight on his weapon after removing the night visors on his eyes and discovered that they were yellowish colored particles.

"This is not right..."

Seeing this situation, Airon sighed softly, knowing that the road ahead would be very strange to pass. What is in store for them ahead and are these particles harmful?"

Since this type of mist is unknown and appeared in the tunnel below, meaning they could belong to walker corpses or some other type of anomaly coming from another variant, Airon after all didn't know what to think about.

Knowing that this wasn't about dust, Airon turned his head to look at Alicia, and the two pulled out the gas mask in an unspoken understanding, Airon ever since he faced that walker inside the military camp knew how necessary gas masks were, so at least his main group carried one with them.

Airon checked the ammunition in his rifles, he at least in the last few months has killed an impressive amount of walkers, and the bullet consumption after the fight against the Vultures was also increasing, there was still a long way to go according to the map, so he can't finish the tunnel route all at once.

After confirming that there was no problem with the firearms, the two walked side by side and slowly entered the spore fog.

The completely dark environment and the dense particles in the air made it difficult for them to see the way forward. Even with the flashlights on, the range of illumination is little.

Making progress in such an environment is a great test of the psychological quality of the people who inhabit it.

This also forced Airon to use his body's energy to detect the situation ahead.

Otherwise, with the current poor field of vision, if there is a group of walkers in front of them, they will most likely attack him within seconds and it will be too late to react at that time.

As the perception extended, Airon could also clearly perceive the movement in front of him, as well as the yellowish particles in the air gathering in the surroundings on both sides of the tunnel.

"Airon, it's not safe to go this way, we can't see the road ahead."

Seeing more and more particles in the air appearing on both sides, Alicia couldn't help but stop, seeing that it was still blurry she took Airon's arm and quietly reminded him.

Airon was puzzled for a moment, then chuckled, patted Alicia on the shoulder to reassure her and said, "It's okay, I can see the way ahead, just follow me."

Hearing this, Alicia looked at Airon with surprise and then walked behind him a little hesitantly.

"Trust me, everything will be fine."

But Airon didn't want to explain more than he hadn't before, and after saying so, he kept moving forward.

Seeing the other party's self-confidence, even though Alicia was still a little worried, she decided to believe and continued without hesitation.

"Stop!"

But not long after walking forward, Airon suddenly stopped as if he had sensed something, stopped Alica behind him and said solemnly, "I seem to be able to see figures ahead."

"Walkers?"

Alicia, who was still unclear about the situation, immediately realized what Airon said, turned off the flashlight in her hand and raised her gun.

"Yes, but they don't seem to attack us even if they have seen the light of the lanterns." Airon showed a dubious expression.

In his perception, a train was quietly parked on the railway tracks about thirty meters ahead, and a group of dense figures were standing on the inner and outer sides of the tunnel.

One after another, whispers echoed continuously, and they were all walkers who had become deformed. There were almost a hundred walkers with something around their head that prevented them from opening their eyesight, and this was only within their perception. There was further in the tunnel beyond his sight with the possibility of the whole place being filled with walkers.

Such a horrific scene made Airon's expression tighten, a large number of walkers could swallow him up in the blink of an eye.

If they were to meet those walkers right now without knowing the situation, they wouldn't even have a chance to fight back!

He quickly pulled out the morphine injection and injected it, with the pain in his body it was very likely that he would not be able to react as he would like in a situation like this, so he didn't hesitate and injected himself with a dose.

Then he told Alicia what he had seen, Airon turned his head and looked back to where he came from, and said, "It looks like the road ahead can't be followed in tranquility, so we should go back right now."

"Right!"

Hearing what Airon said, although Alicia still wondered why the other party knew what was going on ahead, she decided to believe it. She frowned and said, "It's just that we'll waste a lot of time going back the same way..."

"That can't be helped."

Although he feels a little regretful, instead of wasting time, getting out of this place alive is more important to Airon so I take Alicia's hand to go out the back.

Boom! Boom!

But the moment the two turned around, there was a sudden and violent jolt from the position above their heads, and two explosions were vaguely heard, and a large amount of gravel and dust fell from the top of the shaking tunnel.

Airon raised his head almost unconsciously, his eyes glanced around to find out what happened just now.

Then, as if it was an earthquake, he saw that the top of the tunnel above their heads was covered with small cracks for some reason. Although the crack on the ceiling was small, the airing it encompassed was very large. Maybe it was caused by the vibration just now due to an explosion, and the crack was still expanding.

Roar!

"Airon, there's movement!"

Just as Airon looked to the top of his head, there was a low voice exclusive to the walkers from the position behind them. Alicia, who was alert to her surroundings, caught the small voice immediately, her pupils shrank and she quickly whispered to Airon to remind him.

The reminder in her ear brought Airon back to his senses in an instant, and he immediately looked back, only to see that the walkers they encountered when they arrived came out from the back.

It seems that the commotion now not only intensified the crack on the top of his head, but also alarmed the hidden walkers.

The walkers appeared in the front and back at the same time, and the two were immediately caught in the middle. If there wasn't some distance between them and the spores and darkness as cover, the two would have been discovered long ago.

"Damn it!"

Seeing the sudden appearance of numerous walkers in the secondary lane, Airon immediately realized that the situation was not good and did not care why there was a crack at the top of the tunnel, and quickly thought of how to escape.

There is a special way to move among walkers. Now there are a lot of walkers behind them. If they cannot be eliminated immediately, the high-pitched screams will inevitably attract the walkers to the front who seem to have lost the ability of sight.

But obviously this is impossible, there are more than a dozen of these walkers, and they are too spread out, even if they use firearms, they can't make it, let alone in this place where they can't see clearly what is happening in front because they are wearing gas masks.

At the thought of this, Airon's eyes flickered and he turned his gaze in the direction of the group of walkers again, knowing that now he must bet on what he will do next!
