Chapter 5

Henry and Liam ventured into St. Ann's Church, eager to get their hands on the dark objects. Henry's magical senses tingled as he detected faint traces of magic leading them to a hidden door within the church.

Feeling quite confident, Henry siphoned away the barrier, spell keeping the door concealed. He turned to Liam and said, "Alright, mate, time to put those muscles to good use. Break that door down!"

Just as the door broke down, a girl rushed down from the attic, drawn by the commotion. As she got closer to them, Henry realized it was Davina. She quickly shot them backward with her magic. They ended up against the wall, and she asked them who they were and what they were doing there.

Henry and Liam, recovering from the force of the magic, exchanged wary glances. Henry was the first to speak, his tone cautious but not hostile. "We didn't mean to startle you. We were just exploring the church, looking for something."

Davina, still wary, eyed them both. "Exploring? In a closed-off, magically protected church? You don't look like ordinary tourists."

Liam chimed in, "We're looking for some... ancient artifacts. We heard they might be hidden here."

Davina's skepticism was evident as she scrutinized them further. "Ancient artifacts? Why should I believe you?"

Henry hesitated for a brief moment, sensing the doubt in her voice. But then, without missing a beat, he decided to make his point clear. He siphoned the magic around him and unleashed a sudden burst of power, sending Davina flying across the room, just as she had done to him and Liam earlier.

Davina let out a surprised gasp as she collided with a wall, clearly not expecting this turn of events. She groaned and slowly picked herself up, her expression shifting from skepticism to anger. "What the hell was that?" she demanded, glaring at Henry.

"Just returning the favor, you sent me across the room and so did I," Henry quipped with a wry smile. "Now we're even, wouldn't you say? What's your name?"

"Davina St. Claire," she replied hesitantly, her guard still up.

Henry chuckled. "Ah, yes, the Harvest witch everyone wants."

Davina's eyes widened in surprise. She was about to respond with hostility, but Henry quickly interjected, "Don't worry, Davina. I won't tell anyone about you. After all, we're friends now."

"Friends?" Davina repeated skeptically, her distrust lingering.

"Yes, friends," Henry affirmed with a friendly grin. "I'm Henry, and that's Liam over there."

"And as friend I can help you know, with that over flowing magic, its leaking of you like a waterfall" Henry said

Davina eyed Henry with a hint of curiosity. "So, how exactly are you planning to do this? And what's your angle in all of this?"

Henry offered a reassuring smile. "Think of it as a friendly gesture between witches. I'm no stranger to manipulating magic. I can "take" the excess energy from you temporarily, just enough to relieve you of that overwhelming sensation."

Davina was understandably skeptical about Henry's offer. "And how do you plan to 'take this magic from me'? No other witch could do that."

Henry paused, considering how best to explain his unique abilities to her. "Davina, have you ever heard of a siphoner?" She shook her head, indicating her lack of knowledge on the subject.

Henry proceeded to give her a brief rundown. "Well, siphoners are a rare type of witch who can siphon or draw magic from other sources. I'm one of them, and I can harness your excessive magic without harming you. It's like... borrowing a cup of sugar from your neighbor. You get it back naturally, but I'm just taking a bit to help you out."

Davina's curiosity grew as she started to grasp the concept. "So, you're saying you can just, what, siphon off the extra magic and store it somewhere safe?"

Davina considered Henry's explanation for a moment, then replied cautiously, "So, you're saying you can help me control this magic better without taking it permanently?"

Henry nodded. "Exactly. I can siphon off the excess magic temporarily, enough to ease the burden on you and prevent any harm. You'll still have your magic, but it'll be more manageable."

Davina contemplated the offer. She was wary of trusting anyone, especially a stranger, but the thought of finally gaining control over her overwhelming power was enticing. "Alright," she finally agreed, "but if you try anything funny, I won't hesitate to stop you."

As Henry held Davina's hands, her magic flowed into him like an unending ocean. It surged through him, a powerful and euphoric sensation. With careful precision, he channeled the excess magic into his pendant, feeling it soak into the intricate design.

The pendant absorbed the energy, glowing brilliantly with the newfound magic. Henry could feel the pendant pulsing with the power he had siphoned from Davina. When he was certain he had taken enough to relieve her of the excess magic without harming her, he gently released her hands.

Davina withdrew her hands, a mix of surprise and relief on her face. "I... I can feel the difference," she said, her voice tinged with amazement.

As Henry assisted Davina in regulating her magic, Liam had been proactive in collecting the necessary dark objects for their undisclosed purposes. With a few items safely in their possession, Henry felt it was time to part ways, but not without leaving Davina with a way to reach him if needed.

"Here's my phone number," Henry said, handing her a piece of paper with his contact information. "If you ever run into any trouble or just need someone to talk to about magic or anything else, don't hesitate to call me."

Davina accepted the paper and smiled appreciatively. "Thanks, Henry. I might take you up on that offer."

One of the dark objects they acquired was a grimoire brimming with black magic, containing forbidden spells and incantations. The other one was a blood amulet jewelry that allowed the wearer to manipulate and influence the thoughts and actions of those around them.

Henry delved deep into the dark grimoire, its pages laden with spells that could send shivers down anyone's spine. Here are a couple of examples of the malicious spells he came across:

First was the Illusion of Torment: This spell created vivid, horrifying illusions in the minds of its victims. Second was the Memory Erasure Ritual: This ritual wiped out all memories from the victim's mind. There were more spells, but he needed to study them.
