7 STD

Vampires are truly an odd animal, never changing like an obelisk. Reminding them of their cursed existence. That they stand alone in this withering world. Yet they are always looking for something, something that can change them. Make them feel alive again.  

New day brought the same old problems for the Salvatore house. Two brothers at each others throats. Middle child left to his own devices and a young one that they all ignored completely. Poor Zach. Damon was out doing Damon things, Stefan was sort of failing with Elena and Tom… well he was still reading his father's journal.

For a vampire he was a bit slow but who knows maybe he's just taking his time. Trying to remember, everything and know what happened after he left. Tom was in his room reading the journal when he got a text from Bonnie. 

"Hey, I want to check in with you, if you are free today?"

Tom smiled as he texted back to her, "Yeah, what do you have in mind?"

"There is this comet thing at the town square. Would you like to go with me?"

Tom scrunched his eyebrows and remembered what happened today. It wasn't a good day for anyone… especially for his brothers. "Yeah, sure. I'll be there."

"Great… see you soon."

Tom looked at the text and then got up from his bed and went to Stefan's room. He was lying on his bed, brooding like usual. "Hey!"

Stefan looked up, "Hey."

"Elena got home okay?" Tom walked inside and stopped on his journals closet and opened it.

"Yeah, she called me." 

"And did you apologize to her… for acting all psycho?" I looked for his journal for 1864. I found it was a leather bound small journal with parchment. Its leather was tough and scratched. 

"Yeah, I did… thank you by the way." he said as he sits straight and looked at him.

"How many time will you thank me? I'm your brother remember? I'm supposed to help you." I opened it and stared at its pages.

"It's good that you are here." Tom turned and looked at him.

"I told you… but it's good to hear it from you." 

Stefan smiled and said, "You're still reading?"

Tom hummed and nodded, "Well, if you want to you can read mine… not that you aren't doing it already." 

Tom chuckled as he looked at him, "What are wearing for tonight?"

"Tonight?" 

"The comet watch or something… Bonnie invited me… Didn't Elena tell you?"

Stefan sighed and nodded, "She did… I don't with Damon here… I don't think I should."

Tom closed the journal and walked over to Stefan and sat next to him, "Hey, come on… Damon is like STD… he's always going to be there, but you can't stop just because of it. "

A very confused and awkward Stefan burned holes into Tom and said, "That's the weirdest analogy… ever."

"It's accurate though." Tom then got up and said, "Let's go to it… Im sure it will turn into a great night."

"I doubt it." Stefan said as he got up.

Both of the brothers arrived at the little shindig, for a small town this place was filled with people. Tom looked at all the people and said, "If wasn't being a goody good guy right now. This place would have been lot of fun." 

Stefan stared at him and he said, "Come on I'm just joking."

They both saw the young group of people by the benches and they walked to them. Someone handed them candles. Tom looked at it and asked, "What are we supposed to do with these… not to mention. It's dangerous."

"Heads up." Stefan softly said to Tom.

Tom looked up and found Bonnie and Elena walking over. "Glad you guys made it."

"Quick question what are these for?" Tom asked and Stefan looked at him.

"I actually don't know." Elena said as she looked at Bonnie and she didn't know either and just shrugged. They both helped light the candles. 

"Come, we are all here?" Bonnie said to Tom and took him to the group while Elena and Stefan were left behind.

Tom and Bonnie arrived and Matt recognized him and looked at Bonnie while giving her a sly smile. "Hi I'm Matt."

Tom shook his hand and smiled, Tyler looked at him and just bobbed his head slightly and introduced himself, "Tyler." 

Tom nodded, "Nice to meet you guys."

"Why are you with the loner dude?" Tyler asked Tom while Bonnie glared holes into Tyler.

"The loner dude is my brother." Tom chuckled as looked at Tyler.

"Come let's see the display?" Bonnie asked in a hurry.

Tom nodded and went with her. Bonnie looked at him and said, "Im sorry for Tyler. He was dropped on his head."

Tom laughed and said, "It's fine… it's not like all your friends will like me… for example Caroline."

"She doesn't like you?" Bonnie asked as her eyebrows curved into bridges.

"Well to put it bluntly I kinda blocked her with Stefan… so." Tom explained.

"Speaking of brothers… you never told me about Damon." Bonnie said.

"Wow, you girls do like to gossip… I always thought that it was like a joke or something." Tom teased her.

"It's not gossip… it just came up when I was talking about you." Bonnie slowly looked at the candle in her hand.

"Jokes aside… Damon has a troubled past all the Salvatores do. It's like our thing, but the thing is Stefan and Damon are not exactly at the best of places. And Im kinda always in between them. Even when we were younger." Tom sighed as he looked up to the sky and saw the giant ball of ice across the sky.

"Must be tough being the middle child." Bonnie said as she looked up at him.

"It's not all that bad… I was mostly just left alone." He looked at her they stared at each other for a while. Bonnie's breath grew faster and hotter. 

"Hey guys!" Both of them turned around and saw Caroline calling them, "We're going to the grill come!"

Bonnie wasn't happy and it showed by her scowl. Tom however quickly turned around and said, "Let's go."

The awkwardness was almost palpable on their table. Matt, Elena's ex boyfriend, Caroline Elena and Bonnie's best friend who got cockblocked or something akin to that. Tyler who was backing up his bro and then there was Tom and Bonnie. Who didn't know how to diffuse the situation.

Tom took a sip of beer and said, "It's cold outside… should have brought my jacket."

Bonnie hummed and then Elena's younger brother Jeremy came quickly to the table. He looked troubled by something, "Have you guys seen Viki?"

 "You're her stalker you tell us." Tyler said with a smirk.

"I can't find her anywhere." Jeremy panted for breath.

"Easy man, take a breath." Tom said to the young boy.

"She probably found somebody else to party with. Sorry, pill pusher, I guess you've been replaced." He smirked and bobbed his head.

Elena looked confused but she looked at Tyler and back to Jeremy looking for answers "What's with the pill pusher?"

Tyler pointed at Jeremy and said, "Ask him."

"You wanna do this right now?"

"Are you dealing?" Elena looked worried and Stefan looked at Tom.

Tom looked at Jeremy and asked, "Where did you last see her?"

Tyler smirked as he said, "She's never gonna go for you."

"She already did. Over and over and over again. And guess what I didn't even have to force her into it."

Everyone stared at Tyler after hearing Jeremy and Matt asked "What the hell is he talking about, Ty?"

"Nothing, man, just ignore him, he's a punk."

"You know what, how about all of you shut up and help me find my sister?" Matt finally said something of worth.

"We'll check the back." The girls said

"I'll check the square." Matt said as he looked at Tyler.

"I'll come with you." Jeremy pleaded but he was stopped. Elena grabbed his hands and made him stay.

"You guys go on… I'll be here just in case she shows up here." Stefan nodded 

"We'll check every where else I suppose." Tom shrugged as he got up and both of them left the grill.

As both of them were searching for Viki, Stefan said, "This whole thing stinks of Damon."

"Tell me about it." Tom looked everywhere but then he head Viki's voice and he tapped at Stefan's shoulder as he saw Damon and Viki on the edge of the building. They both started walking but Damon said, "tut, tut, only Stefan… if you come. I'll throw her off."

"Fuck." Tom cursed and looked at Stefan and ushered him to go.

In the blink of an eye Stefan was up there with them. Damon and Stefan stood face to face with each other and Stefan said, "Let her go."

"Poor choice of words there." he feigned a bit and jokingly tired to let her go but again grabbed her by the hands.

"Relax… little brother." He threw Viki to Stefan's side and as soon as she did Tom was up there as well. 

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Tom asked.

"With me nothing… with our brother? Too much…" Damon looked at Viki and asked, "Who attacked you last night?"

"Ugh, an animal… an animal attacked me." Viki cried in pain.

Damon walked over to Viki and asked "Come sweet heart think, think real hard… what attacked you?" 

"A vampire." Viki grunted as she looked at him, "It was you."

Tom looked at Stefan and said, "You should have come to me… I could've helped you."

"Why? He doesn't trust you and why should he… you faked your own death… that led to so many deaths… who would trust you?" Damon said as he looked at Tom and then at Stefan.

Tom pursed his lips and said, "You're right… you guys can play this game of yours… I'll just go." Tom dipped out of there and ran back to home.

"He's still sensitive." Damon chuckled "But he's right… we need to finish our little game."

Damon compelled Viki to think that it was Stefan who attacked her last night and tried to coerce Stefan to drink human blood again. But Stefan resisted and like Tom said it was just a game. Damon wiped Viki clean and made a break for it.

Stefan delivered Viki and Bonnie saw him off in the distance and touched his shoulders and in an instant she took her hand back to herself, "What happened to you?" 

She turned around and walked away from there. Stefan called out to her but nothing. She didn't stop and soon she was out of his sight.
