Chapter 27

James POV:

I entered the suite with smile on my face because of the prior encounter with Alice. One of the housekeeping staff kept my luggage inside and I gave him a handful of money to which he was shocked but later he thanked me and left the suite.

I removed my coat and kept it on my bed. An unknown smile made its way on my face and I felt utter bliss in my heart. My heart was giving many different kinds of senses to me which I didn't get after Eliza's death.

It was a great surprise to see Alice at the airport. I didn't focus on her face though I approached her because of the badge she was wearing. But when I saw her, I was in utter shock. Alice was as shocked as me. She was astonished to see me there. Our mouths were wide open because none of us expected this.

But why would she come to pick me? Why is she even working as a employee in an event management company?

But later she told me that she's working to help her friends who are running the company. I understood that how considerate and compassionate she was for her friends.

Two years ago, Alice's words gave a new life to me. I was quitting my life and career and it was for her that I got up from my descent. She gave me back my career with my dignity.

I was certain that after the press conference my life and career were at stake. But, she was the one who saved me from the tarnished and tainted life. She released the statement in which she said that she didn't want any case or enquiry against me and I got my fame and career back.

My license was not cancelled and with the help of my friend Aaron, I rose again and I worked day and night to make my name. I put all of my efforts and worked tirelessly to build the law firm which I'm running today.

Yes, I'm running a law firm which I made with my blood and sweat. I started it with a two rooms office and then now it has turned into a giant building. My firm has made its name globally. Not only in USA but we have our firms in UK, Canada and now we are going to build it in Australia as well.

Along with my career and financial buildup, I have seen transformation in myself. The real transformation which I embraced and saw my powers and strengths. I worked on my weaknesses and overcome them.

I accepted the fact that Eliza was gone and one day we all have to go but her death was very tragic and heinous to me. After her, I wasn't able to be in a relationship again. Eliza was only one for me. To even think about love, I feel like I'm betraying Eliza. Because I promised that in my life, I won't give her place to anyone else.

I've never been in a relationship then rather I focused on my career and self-care. I was working alongside it, I was hitting gym as well. Alice'a reaction was worth it when she was ogling me. She was way embarrassed when I caught her but I knew this would be her reaction because I was a weird guy then.

Now, I'm 28, single and running law firms. I'm content and satisfied with my life.

I am totally a workaholic person but it was Aaron who was ducking my blood like a vampire because he wanted me to manage his wedding plans and events. I couldn't say no to him because he was the only one who supported me in my thick and thin.

But he didn't tell me about Alice! He knew Alice from the press conference time yet he didn't mention that she's coming to pick me up or she's part of this company.

I decided to teach him a task but not before taking a hit and warm shower. I took shower and got comfy in my casual t shirt and trousers. I took out my laptop and started searching about the company. I got to know that it has arranged a number of events and their ranking is so good.

I was really professional about these things but knowing that Alice was part of that company gave me sort of satisfaction that they will not disappoint me.

Today's encounter with Alice was adorable beyond words. I mean she was way too dumbfounded to see me and then she didn't even ask me that how I'm doing.

I was so senseless with me. I mean I never had urge to ask any girl about her boyfriend yet when I saw that she got a call from a boy named 'Adrian' I got a kind of possessive and without thinking I asked her that who he was which was so rude. What she must be thinking about me? That after two years, I turned out so possessive about her.

I rolled my eyes thinking about this because I really don't want her to have any wrong impression about me because in past I've done a plenty of mistakes. Now I don't want to pull out such stunts.

We never agreed that we were friends yet I told the receptionist who was drooling over me, my money and body. But Alice was paying no heed to her antics.

Her eyes turned saucer red when she was called my girlfriend. I mean I was not that bad, was I?

There was something different about her. She turned out to be the most beautiful girl. I was literally spellbound to see her. And it's ironic that I never noticed that how pretty she was. Her beauty blinded me. It was coming from her heart and was reflecting in her beautiful hazel eyes.

Her smooth fair complexion was complemented by the pink blush that she had applied on her cheeks. Her smile was intoxicated yet so beautiful. Her smooth, silky and wavy hair which were loosely falling on her shoulder and back were so pretty. The way she was tugging them behind her eyes by keeping her eyes lashes down was making me skip the heartbeats. She was so beautifully dressed in white crop top and jeans which was the reason I was not able to digest the fact that she was not a worker.

She was looking like a goddess!

I brushed off these thoughts and realised that it was so inappropriate of me to think this much about a girl that too Alice Miller. I must remember how our terms were. How she was hesitant in front of me. We were barely an hour together but most of the time either she was uncomfortable or embarrassed.

But my heart was at peace that I was able to meet her. After a long time my heart felt something other then the usual pumping of blood.

I opened the documents in the laptop and started working from here and I had the whole day detail about the office from my personal assistant. Another reason of coming here was to see the progress of London office.

I worked till late night till my eyes were filled with sleep and I started feeling drowsy. I closed the laptop and slept peacefully with the last thought of Alice's smile.

I woke up early morning that I am habitual of. I wore sweatpants and shirt for jogging. I can't live without exercise. I took a water bottle with me and exit the hotel and started jogging.

It was 6 in the morning and there were few people who were on jog like me while rest of the world was sleeping. I love this time of the year when everybody was sleeping and you have time to embrace yourself. The whole city seems to be in your feets.

I had my jogging session until 8 and now I had craving of a having a delicious and strong black coffee. I had no idea where the good cafes were so i entered the only cafe that I spotted and it's name was so weird "Make a wish"

It was weird yet fascinating. I made a wish in my heart and entered the cafe. There were few people already having their coffees and pastries.

I entered and sat in the chair and after a few seconds, a girl younger than me came, smiled and took my order. I started checking my emails and few minutes later, she came with my black coffee and it tasted heaven. I've never tasted such a delicious coffee before.

I was sipping my coffee while checking the emails when I heard that girl reading something from the book.

She was reading, "you're the pretty little light sitting in the corner of my mind, breathing on my thoughts, making space for the stars."

What the beautiful lines!

She closed the book and looked at the boy standing behind her and saw him furiously. That boy rolled his eyes at her.

"Why don't you speak such beautiful lines for me? Look how beautiful Alice writes!" She whined and pushed him and reached across the counter and sat their angrily.

Alice?!
