18 Chapter-18 Appointment

" You mean YOU have an appointment? ", Lilly asked, trying to understand what he was saying.

" No, WE have an appointment. ", he replied firmly.

" With whom? "

" You will see that soon. Now, shall we? ", he asked, getting out of the car leaving Lilly behind.

" At least wait for me. ", she complained rushing out of the car but her feet froze right at the entrance of the hospital.

Realising that Lilly was not following him anymore, Alex also stopped and turned around only to find Lilly staring at an ambulance parked at the entrance.

" What's wrong? ", he asked as he walked towards her.

" I don't think this is a good idea. What will happen if I lost control over myself? "

" Just try your best to have full control over yourself and have faith in yourself. Nothing you are imagining will ever happen. ", Alex said, trying to comfort her.

" I know and I am just worried that I might lose control at the sight of blood. Anyways, it is something I have to overcome myself so let's go. "

Lilly was still worried but she also knew that she has to learn to control herself so that she is able to back to her normal life.

After that Lilly quietly followed Alex and he went straight to the elevator. The moment the elevator stopped, Alex called someone as they both got off.

" I have arrived on the floor. Are you free right now? ", he asked to the person he was talking to while keeping his eyes on Lilly who was staring at her like a lonely child.

" Yes sure, we'll be right there. Thank you Doctor. ", he said as he hung up the call.

" Is the person we have an appointment with a doctor? "

" No, a carpenter. ", he answered sarcastically. " Who else will we meet in a hospital when I, myself am referring to the person as a doctor? "

" Then you could have answered me nicely instead of being so rude. ", Lilly snapped. " And why in the world am I meeting that doctor? "

" To get proper check up. ", Alex replied and without waiting for her, started walking.

" For whom? Me? Why? I am completely fine, so what is the need? ", Lilly burst with questions as she followed him.

" We have only provided you with the first aid for your body but we didn't check internal problems. What if your memory loss is because of physical trauma on your brain? ", he explained, walking continuously.

" Why? Was my head also injured at that time? ", Lilly asked, practically running to keep up with Alex's speed.

Suddenly Alex stopped, without answering which surprised Lilly.

" What's wrong now? ", she muttered angrily.

" This is the place. ", Alex said as he knocked on the door.

To Lilly's surprise, it was neurological department of the hospital. Alex took her to neurologist.

" Why are we here? Are you saying that something is wrong with my brain? "

Without answering her, Alex just entered, leaving her with no other choice besides following him.

Alex shook hands with the other doctor who looked as if he hasn't rested for days and then sat down. He then introduced Lilly and asked him about his work.

" So, how has work been? ", Alex asked casually.

" Just the usually. It is just tiring working so much. You know, after this meeting, I have appointments with my patients too. "

" At what time do you have appointment with your patients? ", Alex asked.

" Just two hours after this. "

" You must be tired. I am really sorry for asking such a favor. ", Alex said, pretending to be modest.

" No, it's fine, don't think about it. So, Lilly, right? ", the doctor asked.

" Yes. ", Lilly replied, looking at Alex, not knowing what to say.

" I heard that you were into an accident. How are you feeling? ", he asked, surprising Lilly.

She didn't expect him to know that as it was still foreign to her own self.

" I am feeling much better now. ", she replied, trying to remain calm.

" Actually, she has lost some of her memories due to the accident. She does not remember an entire week before the accident. ", Alex explained. " She is quite better now but we just wanted to make sure that she was not that injured. "

" I know, I can understand that. Shall we begin the tests Lilly? ", he asked.

Not knowing what to say, Lilly just looked at Alex with questioning eyes. She didn't even know where she was going and why and now she was asked to get ready for some tests which she doesn't even know.

" What kind of tests? ", she asked hesitantly.

" Just some physical and neurological tests. There is nothing to worry about. ", he said.

Unconsciously, the question lingering in her head, suddenly burst out.

" Are you sure? ", she asked.

Her innocent question made Alex and the doctor smile.

" Of course. Don't worry, they won't hurt and will be done very soon. ", the doctor said. " Shall we begin? "

Lilly again looked at Alex and this time he gave her a light nod and an assuring smile which also made her nod in agreement.

The doctor made her take a number of tests including an MRI scan and all the tests took for about an hour to end. Surprisingly the results also came by the time her tests ended.

While Lilly sat, after the tests, the doctor examined all the results. After reading it for a while, he handed Alex all the reports and started explaining.

" All the tests declare that she is completely fine. There was nothing odd with her brain, not even sign of any shock. ", he explained.

" Then what about her amnesia? "

" You know Dr Alex, human brain is quite mysterious. I think this is not a physical problem but a psychological one. There are times when the brain itself blocks some memories. Actually this is not my field so I can't say much about it. "

" Then what should we do? ", Alex asked.

" Why don't you try consulting Dr Clara, once? "

Suddenly Alex froze. It was as if he saw a ghost. He looked so surprise that it didn't even look that he was listening any longer.
