Chapter 13: Twisted feelings

Later in the evening when Chris got home from the bus station, he was surprised when he saw that, Bethany was already back home.

"I thought you said, you won't be back until night?" Chris asked as he headed towards the room.

"The person I went to meet wasn't around so I thought of coming back home."

"Alright!" He came out of the room and sat beside her; "any update about the job interview results yet?"

"Not at all but I'm still hoping to hear from them soon...So tell me, why didn't your girlfriend stay for a while?" She sounds jealous.

"She isn't my girlfriend; and from the introduction I made to you, I said she is the new history teacher at the college and if you could hear our conversation very well, you will know today is the first day of her coming here."

"Oh, I thought as much, what was she doing here?" Bethany seems relieved after what Chris said.
