The Underworld Walkers (1)

After bidding farewell to the Black Snake, Anna and Alexander follow his instructions and burrow into the cavern under the water. She slid down the narrow underground passage.

The dark cave was lit from nowhere, the green light shining on the long, narrow, cave-like, dark brown passage, so eerie that Anna felt her chest tighten. It seemed like a long journey, so long that it seemed impossible to breathe.

Despite not being able to touch each other, Alexandre held Anna tightly in his arms. It was comforting to know that in the dim light they could still see each other. Having someone to rely on made them less lonely and less afraid.

After gliding for a long time, Anna felt the light open up before her. There was a wide open space in front of her. It was a strange place to say the least, with several rivers running away from it.

Anna was curious and said, "What is this place and why are there so many rivers? I don't know where they go. ..."

Alexandre scratched his head in confusion.

He heard the dark shadow, who had been silent, peek out and say, "This is the branch of the river that leads to the underworld, the river of the underworld.

Anna said anxiously, "Why is it water again? I can't swim. ..."

Alexandra reassured her, "It's okay, I'll carry you across the river ..."

Alexandre turned and looked at the dark shadow in confusion and said, "Why can't you go into the water?"

Seeing that he had turned around, the black shadow explained, "The water in the River Styx is different from that of the human world, and its specific gravity is much lighter than that of the human world. As he said this, the dark figure put a feather that he had found somewhere into the river. Alexandre and Anna saw the feather sink to the bottom of the water.

Anna asked suspiciously, "What are we going to do? Didn't you say we had to go through this river?"

Seeing that they were in no hurry to go into the water, the dark shadow said, "The reason why we cannot go into the water is because the water is very corrosive. If you want to cross the river safely, you have to use a special boat from the underworld."

Alexandre and Anna turned blue with fear when they heard the dark figure say this. Luckily, they hadn't gone into the water earlier. Otherwise, there would have been no chance of returning to the human world. They stared at each other for a moment. Looking at the quiet river, there was hardly a soul in sight, let alone a boat. Alexandra asked, "There is no one here but us three, where is the boat?"

The black shadow said confidently, "Don't be anxious, wait, the boat will come when it is supposed to." After a pause, the dark figure pulled out a note like a juggler and handed it to Alexandre, "When the ferryman comes, give him this money or he will throw us down the river. ... I'm sleepy, I need to sleep, it's cold outside, it's warmer in your clothes. " The black shadow said, whoosh again into Alexander's clothes. After less than a second, he came out again and said, "Don't forget to call me when the boat arrives at the bottom of the bridge."
