Like a Dream, Not a Dream (1)

The world. Ten years later. Florence, Italy.

The sun is setting in the west. The sky is tinted red, a light, pinkish red with a hint of golden orange.

A ten-year-old boy, dressed in a handsome cowboy outfit, with a western cowboy-style fedora. Carrying a black backpack. Walking alone down the street from his school to his home.

A pair of eyes much more mature than his actual age stare at the old buildings on the street, as if searching for stories of light and shadow.

After walking for a short time, the boy turned into a small park in a square on the side of the street. Nearby this park was a church and the old building was bordered by green grass. A few large, unknown trees were growing in twos and threes on the grass. Underneath the trees there are wooden benches that cannot be moved.

The sunset glowing through the branches of the trees gives a warm and dappled view. Occasionally you can hear birds chirping, and every now and then one or two small, delicate birds creep towards the chairs. It adds a sense of relaxation to the park.

The boy found a chair in an out-of-the-way corner and sat down. "Dark Shadow, are you saying that what I have been dreaming about since I was a child is not a dream, but a real thing? And that I have to rely on them to find my other half?" The boy spoke as if to himself, his voice still childish, and it seemed a little too deep for him to say this.

"Alexandre, how could I lie to you? You are my master, and I exist to protect you, to remind you of things you are forgetting when it is necessary." A voice emanated from the black backpack, deep and unreal.

"Everything you say gives me a sense of déjà vu, not to mention the fact that I often dream about it in my dreams. You told me these stories before I told you about them, and they were exactly like the ones I dreamt of. Even the girl you described as Anna looked almost exactly like the one I had seen in my dreams. I'm really confused, I don't know if it's true or not?" The boy continued in a childish voice, saying things that were highly inappropriate for his age.

A snake poked its head out of the backpack and rubbed itself affectionately against the boy's jaw and neck. Then he said to him, "Of course it's true, I don't like to make up stories to amuse you, I'm saying this because I promised to warn you. Before you came back to this world, you said to me, "Dark Shadow, if you can, please remind me that in the next life, I will find Anna no matter what, not only because I promise to wait for her and find her, but mostly because she is my only love forever." The dark figure looked at Alexandre and said seriously.

"If I have made a promise to that girl, then I must keep my promise and go to her. But the world is so big, where should I go to find her? I'm still young and I have to go to school, not to mention that I don't seem to understand what love is yet." Alexander said in confusion.

"You're still young, so of course you shouldn't think so much about it. The reason I'm reminding you of this so early is that I don't want you to forget the promises you made in the past. Besides, you're so popular with the girls at school, I don't want to make a mistake that can't be undone." The dark figure seemed to be reassuring him.

"You mean all those girls at school who write love letters to me and throw their eyes at me? Don't worry, I'm not interested in them at all. None of them are my type." Alexandra said with a big smile.
