12 Painful truth

The dragon looked at Lucas. From Lucas's point of view the dragon didn't look the slightest bit intimidating but it was Lucas's case.

When Lucas stared into the eyes of the dragon something inside him awakened. Like there was something blocking something deep within him and it broke.

Lucas blinked once and now his eyes which only had a strange luster to them changed completely into the same jewel eyes like that of the Dragon.

*Ting*

[ NOTIFICATION !!...]

Lucas heard a ting sound in his head while a system screen opened in his point of view. Lucas dismissed it for now as he can check it later.

The dragon looked at Lucas with tenderness and love. She moved her huge face towards Lucas and rubbed her snout against Lucas's whole body with tenderness and love.

" M-mom…." Lucas voiced out to confirm that the dragon in front of him was his mother.

" Yes, my baby," The dragon didn't open his mouth but the sweet voice of Athanasia could be heard.

" You are the Great White Dragon of Calamity, Silvia." Lucas asked while moving his hands around her face, caressing it.

" Ugh, that name is given to me by others. I am just a White Dragon named Silvia." The dragon said with a grumpy voice. After all, upto the dragon it was okay but why is she called as the dragon of Calamity. She was just a harmless dragon.

" Than Athanasia ...? " Lucas asked with a confused gaze.

" That is the name given by the first emperor of the Holy Silvia Empire, Maximus." Silvia said in nostalgia.

" Why…..?" Lucas asked.

" He wanted a name known only by his descendants and him." Silvia said.

" Hmm, so you are a dragon, huh ?" Lucas asked.

" Not just a normal dragon, my son. I am the first White Dragon." Athanasia said smugly. She doesn't care much about anyone but she likes to show off to people she cares about. And Lucas was her beloved son. Of course she wanted to show off to her son.

" More than me, what are you ?" She said looking at him amusingly.

" You are hybrid with your smell. I can tell that you have the blood of a dragon, a phoenix, a human as well as an Angel." Silvia said while looking at Lucas curiously.

" Dragon and Angel, I can understand but human and phoenix as well, how ?" Silvia asked.

" Maybe I am a new race—" Lucas tried to reply but was instantly rejected.

" Impossible, humans are greedy creatures. We dragons are of Cold Wisdom. Phoenix are of fiery passion while angels are of Calm humility. It's impossible for these bloods to coexist with each other." She paused and continued after a bit of pondering.

" Maybe those chaotic energies you speak of have made changes in your body structure. After all, even in hybrids I, a being who have lived for more than 10 millennium, have not seen anyone with more than two bloods. It is definitely something related to your soul." Silvia said.

' Well, the system is a part of my soul. So she is so near the answer.' Lucas thought with a proud smile. He was proud of his mother's intelligence. System itself wanted this fact to exist hidden from everyone and anyone.

" Is it a problem ?" Lucas actually asked.

" Nah, not really. Hybrids are extremely rare, my son. Due to their low birth rate. Even for me it took a hundred years to conceive you." Silvia said with a sigh

" What !?" Lucas was shocked hearing this. He didn't know that hybrids were so rare.

" It's not like hybrids themselves are rare, more like the chances of hybrid between a human and something else is normal due to humans' high birth rate. Hybrids between any two races except humanoid species is extremely rare." Silvia explained.

" Well, you can choose a bloodline from the given bloodlines when you reach the age of maturity." Silvia said.

" Why do I need to be mature to choose a specific bloodline ?" Lucas asked as the screen also said that he can choose a bloodline when he reaches the age of 20.

" It's actually pretty simple. Currently your main bloodline is human. That's why your body is also that of a human but the more you come into contact with mana or your connection with the world increases the blood of other species who have been closer to the world than humans will start to react. At some point they can't be kept under control, at that time you have to choose a bloodline which will completely change your race by submerging other bloodlines with it. Even though I was a hybrid once." Silvia said.

" Wait, you were a hybrid ?" Lucas asked.

" Yes but that time was a bit different. My father who was also known as the Sovereign of all dragons, the first dragon mated with my mother the sovereign of all phoenixs, the first phoenix. To give birth to me after I reach the maturity age I choose my dragon blood which evolved me into a white dragon." Silvia explained.

' That explains my phoenix bloodline…..' Lucas thought with a nod.

" Was ?" Lucas asked because the father of such a dragon would be immortal and undefeatable.

" Yes, they are not dead but they left this world to go to a different world. Just like how I am going to leave." Silvia said.

When Claude heard that he just stared at his mother like his mind went blank.

" You are going to leave ?" Lucas asked with a worried expression.

" Yes, it is something which can't be changed, dear." Even though dragons can't show much expression Lucas understood that she was also as sad about this fact as him.

" Why ? Don't go…." Lucas said while tears started to flow from his eyes.

" It's a different matter Claude but if you live long enough like me and become as strong as me you will understand. I can't tell you the reason because even my father didn't tell me when he was leaving. It's something you find on your own." Silvia said while tears started to flow from her eyes as well.

She picked up the crying Lucas and kept him near his stomach. Lucas hugged her tummy while she curled around him.

They both cried for the unchangeable fate but it is also a way to break through the past and move forward to the future. This is a moment just for them to live this cruel past and move forward to the future.
